Her daughter got tips after being warned several times that they may not stay on due to the lack of nails on her fingers, as her daughter is an serious nail bitter. Her daughter also received a pedicure. Mike, the owner, offered free services for the inconvenience and was very polite on the phone. The lady then wanted to complain about her gel Polish she herself had received. In full context, she's been coming to the salon for 10 years and recommend her daughter to come in the first place. S C then demanded $95 for all of the services done, then proceeded to threaten the salon reputation like an absolute psycho. Since I was at the salon during all of this, I thought it was important to comment both sides about what really happened. Mike did his best to compensate her and her daughter which she refused. He was calm while she was screaming on the phone. He did a wonderful job keeping his composure. Also, amazing pedicures done by Gloria!

If you're thinking about getting a gift certificate from here I would ask what the policy is. I was…read moregiven a gift certificate from a friend for my birthday that expired a week after it was given to me and didn't know that when I went to use it in November. They didn't tell me it was expired while I was there, let me use half of it, then crossed out the expiration date and made it a date in expire 10/30/25. I was unaware they back-dated it because I was in a hurry to put it in my pocket since I was in rush. Fast forward to today, I went to use it and obviously it wasn't honored because of that new date. I understand that it expired and of course I'm fine not using it since it's completely my fault. It was just the most bizarre experience because 1. No one mentioned it was expired the first time I was there (which I would have been fine paying for my pedicure if someone explained that to me instead writing in a new date so couldn't use it again) Also I'm just not sure why they would give me back a gift certificate that I can't use anymore or never mention that it was expired. 2. What kind of place has a 1 week or 1 month expiration date? (Thinking about it I'm wondering if it the date a typo since it was handwritten because most places around here have a 1 year expiration date when I buy them or am gifted them.) Also my nails were different lengths and the polish I used developed white spots on top (it was a light purple) With so many wonderful places in Montclair, I would definitely consider buying a gift certificate somewhere else with a longer expiration date, a more clear policy, or somewhere that will take the time to explain these dates and policies if you have an issue like I did if you are looking to purchase a gift.

On Friday, I decided to check out the new nail salon that just opened near my house. The place that…read morewas there before wasn't so great, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, my expectations were definitely exceeded. For starters, the place looks great inside. The new owners have done an amazing job decorating and it now looks more elegant than it did before. I got there as soon as they opened and decided on a mani/pedi. The place was immaculate, there were plenty of OPI and Essie colors to choose from and the woman who did my nails - Sandra - was wonderful, personable, and excellent at her job. I especially appreciated the mini massage that she gave me on my shoulders as I waited for my nails to dry! I have to say that I got a way better mani/pedi than ones that I've gotten at a certain large salon/spa in Montclair for half the price ($26!!). Needless to say, this alone would have been enough to make me come back. But what happened AFTER my services is what really will keep me coming back... Like a moron, I left my engagement ring in the ring keeper after I got my heavenly hand massage. This wasn't just any ring. It once belonged to my husband's grandmother. So, as you can guess, it's pretty invaluable in a sentimental kind of way. Of course, I didn't realize the ring was missing until that evening. Frantic, I tried to retrace my steps, thinking about where I could have lost it. I finally realized that it must have been at the nail salon. As you can imagine, I had a fitful night of sleep that evening! I arrive at the salon the next morning - a full 24 hours after I had left it - thinking for sure that it wouldn't be there. It was. I couldn't believe it! A number of things could have happened, but Sandra recognized me as soon as I arrive and got the owner/manager to get my ring. There aren't many people or businesses who are this honest. They have a client for life! FYI...There is plenty of parking on the street, but there is also a small lot on the side of the building.

Sadly when soaking off my old gel manicure, they left my nails soaking too long and my nail beds were burned. An oversight I guess, but they weren't that busy that this should not have happened. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi for 2 weeks later. I called the day before and asked if I could bring my daughter for service also. They said yes but needed to change the time to accommodate us, which was fine. Upon arrival we were told that we couldn't both get a mani/pedi, which was hugely disappointing since it was 2 days before Easter. It was also my only day off to get this done, but I shouldn't have been inconvenienced to come twice which the point of making an appointment, isn't it?? The salon continued to allow walk in customers all while telling us we couldn't get 2 services. I think it's strange that a salon would sacrifice a potential long term customer to allow basic volume of customers. I would never return here, it's a shame.

I called on a Sunday afternoon to see if they could accommodate a gel manicure with extension and they were able to take me right away. Tracy was my technician, and I felt very comfortable with her the moment I sat down. She was a great listener and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She paid attention to my desired length, shape, color and look. I mentioned I wanted a very natural nail with some extended length and that was exactly what I got. Tracy is definitely thorough and detail-oriented. Not to mention, she was super pleasant and enjoyable to talk to. The salon also has ample parking in the lot (a true perk for the area), and was super tidy and clean! It was not crowded for a Sunday, but staff did seem limited for that day, so I would advise calling ahead before coming. They did have to tell some walk-ins to come back later since their chairs were filled at the time. I am looking forward to coming back here and trying out some of their other services in a few weeks! Edit: I went back and Sue did my nails this time. She also did a beautiful job!
