Mexican coke

We stopped here after visiting Chichén-Itzá as it was one of the first places on the way back towards Cancun that had a market with cute bathing suit coverups. We bought a cover up and a nice Men's shirt for my husband, then we couldn't get over how good the food smelled next door and popped in for a snack. We got an order of 2 chicken tacos and 2 Al pastor, and then almost like a bbq pork quesadilla. My husband said this was the best quesadilla he ever had and he LOVED the charred habanero hot sauce they served here. I enjoyed my tacos, but they weren't 100% what I was wanting... but they were still delicious! The mashed black beans were so flavorful and tasty, I really enjoyed eating those! We also got a Mexican Coke and a beer which paired well with the food. The service was also great, our waiter was really attentive and spoke both English and Spanish. You do have to pay about 5 pesos to use the restroom, however we didn't need to.

Nice Mexican atmosphere, clean, good food with typical Yucatan plates and drinks and good service. Recommended!

Yes, yes, and a whole lotta YESSSSS! After visiting Chichen Itza, we stopped at this cozy eatery and let me tell you...It changed my life! I don't even know where to start, but I will tell you that 7 of us ate good, I mean real good, and the bill was only 1000 pesos or $50 USD. What an absolutely delicious bargain. Start off with the cold pitcher of green drank made from the chaya plant. I can't remember what it was called but it was sweet, cold, and very refreshing. Chaya drink, where have you been all my life. As we sat, the waiter brought out two kinds of poppin' salsa, one red and one green. These heaping bowls of salsa were spicy, fresh, and just what we needed after roaming the ruins. The green was definitely the spicier of the two. Not only did we get chips and salsa but we also got some tasty beans to dip with our chips. Heck yeah! FULL DISCLOSURE: On this particular trip to Mexico, I learned of, and had my first panucho. For those that don't know what a panucho is, it's what tacos aspire to be...and that's real. It's basically starts like a taco but the shell is fried until puffed, and then filled with refried black beans. Well, I love them, and so I definitely had to get some here. I chose cochinita pibil panuchos and they were off the charts good...and they were fat, all kinds of portly pork posing on my plate. GET THESE! For years, my brother from another has been telling me about a Yucatánian dish known as Poc-chuc. So when I saw it on the menu here, I knew I had to have it. Boom! Another winner. It's essentially very thinly sliced pork that was marinated in sour orange juice. If you've never tried, it's a must when visiting Tia's. I think this was also served with beans. My pictures won't do it justice. This is a must see, and taste, for yourself kind of deal. The next, or first, time you're heading to Chichen Itza, Tia Panchita's is mandatory. Trust me! Thanks to the kind folks at Tia Panchita's for providing great food and excellent service!

Stopped here after visiting Chichen. Hands down, some of the best food we had during our trip. We even had the honor of entering the kitchen and making our own tortillas while our food was cooking as we were explained different types of authentic mayan dishes. If i am ever back in the area, I would for sure come back. Must haves: cochinita pibil, poc chuc de res, panuchos

Tia Panchita! WOW What A gem?!? Talk about a hole in the wall! We were greeted promptly! This restaurant is on the side of the road between Valladolid and Chichen-itza ! Their pork meet is AMAZING it's called "COCHONITA" it is full of flavor and juicy and is smoked underground to perfection! I would recommend the "panuchos" and the "salubutes" they are both a twist of a sope, to best describe it. These dishes are original to this area. The Panucho has beans within the tortilla and the salbute is a fluffy toasty tortilla! What an Authentic delicious restaurant! Do not miss out on this hidden gem!

Cochinita

A MUST- there is literally a Tia in the kitchen hand making your tortillas and cooking them on a wood stove. The waiter invited us to see for ourselves. The cochinita is cooked underground and is FIRE. The chips are also handmade and fried, the beans and salsas are out of this world. Probably the best thing you can eat out here.

OMG! Go here. You will not be disappointed. I recommend the Pibil, it was the best pork I have ever had.

Finger licking good! We wanted good cochinita pibil and oh my god this made me dance in my chair and I lost count or how many fresh made tortillas I ate.

Great local food with good traditional music. They were able to give us extra food for being vegetarians. I loved the cleanliness and the fact they have a sink to wash your hands in the corner of the room. Silverware also came wrapped in plastic. Overall, highly recommend it! Their salsa fresca is SUPER TASTY too!

So very delicious. Pork tacos

This is a beautiful cultural experience. Delicious authentic Mexican tacos- cold beer. Truly delightful. It's roadside, watch for it!

Delicious homemade food!

The food was delicious! The chorizo was not too spicy and extremely flavorful. The salted tortilla was good with the various salsa condiments. This place is 1000 times better than any crowded tourist joint. The owner, Juan, was very gracious, we ordered our lunch then went about a km east to get a six pack of beer to have with lunch.

Great stop on the way back from Chichen Itza. Authentic, local, simple, delicious!…read more Ambience included an hombre singing as skinny dogs roamed about in search of scraps. The waiter greeted us right away and told us the three option on the menu. We had the carnitas and they were soooo good. I can't remember the other two, but one was with eggs. The sign is a bit off to the side and not really facing the street, so we missed it the first time around. Pulling in, you can see the grills going in front and in the back of the seating area. Plastic chairs and tables under shaded canopies were readily available. There is no menu, essentially whatever meat is being grilled is what you get - that and along with warm homemade tortillas, pico de gallo, limes, beans, and salsas. So I was lucky they were grilling pork that day. The pork was pretty good and fantastic with their thick homemade tortilla and ridiculously spicy salsas. For $4 USD a person, this was a steal. I did get a bottle of water and not use their cups of ice just to be on the safe side. Glad to say I had no tummy issues after this meal.

We wanted to find some authentic Mexican street style food and not spend a lot of money doing it…read more We were able to make all of those things happen at Loncheria Fabiola in Pisté. We loved that we could dine outdoors (and hangout with like 15 stray dogs haha) and this was incredibly close to the Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza so we were able to grab food here the night before our tour of the ruins. Started off with some pork tacos and some assorted empanadas. The empanadas were good but I would say out of the three things I tried they were my least favorite. The flavor was solid and the fillings and consistency were enjoyable but they lacked the pop of the other two dishes for me personally. I added some of the hot salsas they brought to the table and that made these even better but the tacos and my entree definitely held the edge. These tacos were served on a thicker tortilla than the tortillas they brought for our entrees. I really enjoyed the texture and mouth feel of this compared to a typical corn tortilla. It had more flavor as well to me. The pork had great flavor and was very tender, and the toppings as well as both hot salsa's on this was really great together. I'd eat these tacos all day long. For my entree I decided to get the "Chochinita Pibil" platter. This is this regions famous go to dish so it made perfect sense to try it out. It's a pork that is slow roasted with interesting seasonings like cinnamon, achiote, and allspice. The flavor on this was not similar to things I've had before and I enjoyed it so much. The pork was super tender and there was a bit of a smoky flavor as well. I made some tacos with it and added some of the rice and mole and it was seriously an awesome bite. Would order this again 10 out of 10 times here. 3 entrees with tacos, empanadas, and sodas was like $30 usd or something. Insane. Loncheria Fabiola - Didn't Suck!
