Definitely a tourist spot as it sits on the main park/square; but the service was great and the food was delicious. I ordered the pastor burrito and my girlfriend ordered the chicken flautas. The burrito was packed with flavorful fillings: meat, peppers, onions and seasoned well. I also had a Chaya and pineapple juice (Chaya is a local vegetable and is similar to spinach) very refreshing on a hot summer day. Almost everything here is open air (no air conditioning) they have fans but it was still hot. read more

This is a really nice place to come have dinner while visiting downtown Valladolid it is located right across the main plaza and the cathedral, which is a perfect tourist spot. The food here is not expensive compared to other places, but despite its good price the food is delicious and the drinks are good as well. After two Paloma's you can definitely feel the alcohol hit if you're not a heavy drinker. We were seated immediately and had our orders taken, the food took around 20 minutes to arrive but they did warn us of the wait time due to the place being so packed. Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed with the food as it didn't have a ton of flavor. The drinks on the other hand, they sneak up on you, so they are good. This is a nice spot that's for sure. read more

Top notch covid safety - this place took temps and provided sanitizer upon arrival, we watched them sanitize all the tables and even had individually wrapped utensils and a mask holder for each customer! We ordered a modelo and mojito (light on the sugar - which was executed perfectly). For the entree we ordered the pescado al ajo and cochinita pibil. The fish was cooked just right with so much garlic flavor and the pork was tender with pickled onions and roasted salsa on the side. Tortillas were also very fresh. We were on a time crunch and they were accommodating. Would love to come back here again! read more

I hate to use race as an excuse but my wife, sister-in-law and I are Hispanics and it seem like everyone else who happen to be Caucasian's got served before we did even though we had been there about 15 minutes before they arrived. I stopped in for a bite to eat and to rehydrate. I chose the place because it was busy and the food looked yummy. They also had many choices for licquados, aguas frescas and limonadas which is what I was looking for. I ordered a yucatean local dish called poc-chuc, the grilled pork was spiced flavorfully and was great with lime. The dish is served with plenty of corn tortillas, refríed black beans, salsa and avocado. Filling and delicious. The mango juice was just want I needed after several hours in the sun at Chichén itza. 22 August 2014: After leaving Chichen Itza, Valladolid was the only place to stop for something to eat. You know you're in the right place when you see all of the tour busses emptying out. J and I decided on Las Campanas because it looked authentic to us. Their prices finished convincing us. This restaurant prides itself on being authentic / traditional food from Yucatan. I didn't recognize a lot of their food, but that sure as hell didn't stop us. We each had a beer and split a caldo tlalpeño, YucaQueso (a type of queso fundido), and a stuffed potato without mushrooms. They offer free salsa and (store bought) chips. The green salsa was divine. Like a white girl, I can't even. Everything was fantastic. There's a small stage for live music, but I'm glad no one played anything. It made things better not to have to talk over loudness. We were terribly disappointed by this restaurant which was recommended by our hotel and got great yelp reviews. Apart from live music, there was nothing to like. Both my chicken (slathered in ham and cheese for who knows what reason) and my bf's pork were extremely over cooked. I sent mine back, my bf powered through. The longaniza was dry and burnt and the guacamole was subpar. Don't get me started on the awful margarita. This was one of the worst meals I have ever had in Mexico and I highly recommend checking out other options including Eleganzza which we really enjoyed. read more

So after Chichen Itza we headed to this little town and discovered this great restaurant to dine at. The food was traditional Yucateca. The name of the plate we ordered was called the "Parrillada Yucateca ", which comes with different guisos yucatecos (Poc-chuc, Longaniza, Pollo pibil, Papadzules, lomitos y queso). We stopped at Las Campanas, while driving from Merida to Tulum. The restaurant is located right in the heart of the town. And it is one of the finer restaurants in the neighborhood. We came for a very early dinner, say around 5pm and it was pretty crowded. We ordered chicken tacos, margaritas and lemon soup. The tacos were just okay - toppings were very minimal and to be honest I was quite disappointed. Margarita was good. Lemon soup was good too. If you like chicken soup and lemon flavor, you will enjoy this soup. I loved it. Service is very friendly. Ambience, for sure is very pleasant. Food is okay. We spend the night in Valladolid after driving from Merida to Chichen Itza. Around the square, Las Campananas was the only restaurant that seemed to be crowded with locals so we decided to check it out. We were seated quickly and the service was good. I didn't have a great experience here. I just ordered a Chaya Water and the sopa de lima. The waiter who took my order was nice but then he went off duty and the waiter who replaced him was not friendly. I ordered a dessert drink (cappuccino with Kahula) and he brought it out in a clear parfait-type glass sitting on a ceramic saucer. The two items did not fit together, so the glass was really unstable and at one point it tipped over and spilled. The waiter did not offer to replace the drink. My friends and I ordered a queso fundido with chorizo, lemon soup, cochinito pibil, chicken cordon bleu & the plato campana. After a long trip to the cenotes and the maya ruins in chichen itza, I had dinner in "Las campanas". The service was alright the waiter understood some English and was pretty attentive. The serves nachos are not self made just as the salsa. The cocktails were pretty cheap, but they did not taste very well and were pretty small. I ordered beef fajitas. Parts of the dish were served completely cold and the beef was very sinewy. However, the waiter served more bread when asked. read more
