On the recommendation of our concierge, we came here for lunch. There is a lovely garden in the back that seems nice at night. There was a guitarist playing live music during our lunch, which was very nice. The Balam cocktail was delicious. It's quite large too, so it's good value. Our waiter pointed out several recommended dishes when we got the menu. We got the Chachacua Conato as appetizer to share. It's like a tamale stuffed with pibil with a tangy tomato sauce and pickled onions. It was delicious! For entree, I got the Achiote Octopus, which is served with vegetables and mashed sweet potato. The portion is quite large. The spice used on the octopus was great. Hubby got the Cochinita Pibil, which was quite delicious as well. It's served with fresh corn tortillas. Conato is definitely a great restaurant with delicious drinks and food. The ambiance is nice too.

We stopped through this charming city on our way back to tulum from chichen itza. The restaurant is beautifully decorated- very bohemian chic and there is a small store at the front. You can also sit outside in the little garden to dine. They have an English menu which is very helpful for travelers. I ordered the salmon tacos and I was blown away, they were so delicious. Everything was chopped up very fine and all of the flavors blended together so splendidly. We also got the lime soup (just ok) which tasted like chicken soup with a touch of lime & it had little tortilla strips on top. The salad we got was very fresh tasting and the citrus dressing was delicious. We also got the squash dish and it was also just ok- it wasn't exactly what I expected, there was a red sauce on top of a vegetable medley but we did eat all of the cheese chunks out of it. We were a little nervous parking on the street in front since there weren't any signs but it seemed to be alright! I would also recommend strolling down the the church/town center when you finish your meal.

We were told this was the best spot in Valladolid to get lunch, and it was great. The restaurant itself was very interesting in the way it was designed. It has some really cool things to look at. We sat in the courtyard but had fans, so we can't complain. We ordered the guacamole, arrachera and the octopus. Everything tasted good, we enjoyed it all. The service was friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was good, the music was appropriate and not very loud.

Really nice place and ambiance, the hardest part is to decide what to eat, we had cochinita sopes, ravioles de Chaya and árrachera. For desert, we had chocolate with habanero, we were hesitant about the mix, but it was really good, the very light hint of habanero after each bite was interesting, very light hint, we recommend to try. Service was quick and efficient

Meatloaf, packed with flavor!

The atmosphere was relaxed and very well designed, loved the art on the walls! The service was great! They were out of our first choices, so tried other dishes. The chicken dishes were ok, but lacked in some flavor and one was a bit dry. But the meatloaf was very excellent, I highly recommend it!

Asada Tacos (with mushrooms)

A cute & trendy restaurant in the heart of Valladolid, a perfect stop for anyone visiting Chichen Itza. You walk through a boutique clothing store to enter this beautiful space - open, airy, lots of plants, amazing art. First shoutout to the cocktails - the mango Balam was incredible, with a frozen mango on top of the drink and the perfect spicy kick. The Bloody Maria's very incredibly fresh, and I would highly recommend anything with passionfruit if you prefer a sweet cocktail. The food was equally stunning. The guacamole with chorizo is a great start to the meal, followed by the cochinita pibil sopes. The asada tacos were complemented by the blistered sun gold tomatoes and umami mushrooms. The spicy shrimp entree was also good, although a bit more American with the mashed potatoes side. Overall, a fantastic experience with lovely service! PSA: check out the bathroom for chicas ;)

Concita pibil, pork and onions in Yucatan style

I ate an early dinner Sunday night at Conato. It is only three blocks south of the Central plaza but feels very local. The entry is an interesting series of rooms for shopping, then the bar, then a big open room inside and an even larger patio. The decor is a fascinting mix of paintings, murals and found objects. Candles abound at night and because I ate early when I was leaving a three piece ensemble was just starting to play in the patio. I should have dined later so I could stay. The food was very interesting presented and the quality of the ingredients was high. Service in both English and Spanish was friendly and prompt. I plan to return here while I am still in Valladolid, Mexico.

Restaurant looks very nice and menu selections look great. Food and selections are creative however, didn't live up to the Yelp review expectations...steak tacos were greasy, vegan tacos didn't have a lot of flavor and burger taste was off (per my son's calibrated taste). Lots of mosquitos, which anyway is on par for all of the restaurants we've been to. Loud music. Service and people were very nice and hence three stars.

Shrimp and grilled veggies over whipped potatoes- exquisite and the pear salad with candied pepitas - SO delicious

Fabulous food. Lovely garden ambiance. We had the shrimp and salmon. Both cooked marvelously and spiced well (not too hot) - vegetables and potatoes so fresh and deliciously prepared. The chocolate sweet potato and marzipan cake is the perfect end note. Best restaurant in Valladolid.

Shrimp Achiote

This restaurant was an amazing stop on our way back from Chichén Itza! Casual but cool with an outdoor tropical patio and a cool indoor area with art as well. Everything we ordered was great! A wide variety of options with a burger, pasta, salads, tacos, and Mayan/Yucatán inspired dishes. Definitely try a drink as well. I got the Balam Mezcal drink and it was so good and came with a spicy fruit popsicle on top. For food I ordered the shrimp achiote. The presentation was super pretty and the good tasted amazing as well and was great quality for the price (drink only $7 USD and shrimp dish only $13.5 USD).

Beautiful mural on the wall

This place was amazing!! We ordered the pork ribs which honestly blew my mind. The panuchos with lomitos which were served like tacos with pork on it were less awesome but still pretty good. The drinks were also really well done. The mango Caribe Conato was really refreshing, highly recommend. I was somehow expecting a laid back traditional restaurant and wasn't expecting a more high end restaurant so that was surprising but was a good surprise. It was delicious.

You crawl out of Chichén Itzá sunburned, dusted in ancient limestone, vaguely questioning your life…read morechoices--and then you land here. Just steps from Valladolid's buzzing zócalo, where scooters zip past and church bells cut through the heat, this place hides in a garden like a well-kept secret. Lantern light. Greenery. The kind of setting that makes you slow down whether you meant to or not. Romantic without trying too hard. The food? Solid. Confident. Proudly Yucatecan. Sausages with snap and smoke. Poc chuc--citrus-marinated pork, kissed by flame--bright and satisfying after a long day wandering ruins. And the beef pibil, wrapped in that earthy, achiote-stained depth that tastes like it's been cooking since before you bought your plane ticket. Not fussy. Just honest, regional flavor done right. Presentation was sharp without being pretentious. Plates came out looking like someone cared. Service was efficient--no hovering, no theatrics. They know you're hot, hungry, and probably still thinking about pyramids. They move accordingly. It's the kind of place that feels like a reward. Ancient wonders by day. Garden dinner by night. Valladolid humming just beyond the walls. That's a good way to end a day in the Yucatán.

Ambiance on the patio is quite nice. FOOD...forget about…read moreit. One of the signature beef dishes was extremely tough. Fish way overcooked..although they did remake it, just a little better the 2nd time. I'm very disappointed that we wasted one of evening's here.
