We came in 11 people to eat, our tour guide recommended it. we order 10 meals, and 10 drinks. nothing fancy when it came to the food, chicken only. when we asked for the bill, we got bunch of small paper which our order was on it, could not understand the writing since it was in spanish, and a piece of long paper with charges on it. it was not a receipt that you get with what your order and the amount next time, there was no way to match the amount with the order. Our bill was 11,000 pesos !!!! which is 700$ there was no way that our bill was so high, since the meals that we order were between 250-300 Pesos. We could not talk to anyone about this, since no one spoke english. a completely rip off!! we were charged dubble the amount!!!! Located inside Chichen Itza this place caters well to everyone. Obviously this attracts people from all over and the menu has full pictures of everything so your Spanish level doesn't matter as much. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a lot of staff for the area so you're taken care of. Bathrooms are nice. Great patio view of the park. They even have outlets to charge up. Food is great. I liked my Arrachera Burrito a lot and it paired well with the shrimp Tostada to boot. read more

There's not much options to eat around Chichen Itza. But service here is nice, the menu is large, and there's air conditioning. We ordered two entrees because we didn't know what we were doing, but they ended up being huge! I felt like one entree was definitely shareable. Both were plated well with vibrant colors. We visited here a lifetime ago in early March, before the COVID-19 pandemic. This restaurant sits inside the Chichen-Itza archaeological zone. I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is attractive, the service is good and so's the food! They even have a rooftop area where you can dine and see the iconic Mayan Pyramid of Kukulkan inside Chichen-Itza. We came to see the ruins in the afternoon before sunset, and we had tickets to see (an incredible) lightshow that they do at the pyramid at night ("Noches de Kukulkan"--definitely a must-see!), so we had about 2 hours to kill to back inside the archaeological zone. "Let's eat here!", I said. It's not your only choice in the vicinity, but it's your best choice. They have delicious authentic Mexican food (with vegetarian options, if you're into that), great local craft beers and it's not crowded. The waiters seem like they've been here forever and their service proves it--they are very good! If you're hungry after taking in the incredible history of this Mayan Ruin, don't hesitate to eat here--you'll be glad you did! read more

This restaurant is inside of the 7th wonder of the world Chichén Itzá. The menu had a nice selection of food from Mexican, chicken strips, soups, steaks, deli and a bunch more. They also have a full bar. I didn't get pictures of menu it was on an iPad. There are seats inside and out. The server was very friendly and quick. Did and outstanding job. Given that not other restaurant is within walking distance of the ruins, Oxtun makes for a surprisingly good default option. It is a bit unnecessary to have 3 or 4 people standing outside waving you in as you exit the ruins, but the decor and environment (half inside, half outside) is quite nice. We ordered the Yucatan special, chicken soup, and coconut shrimp. The Yucatan special included 3 dishes, 1 of which was a bit subpar. The chicken soup was quite flavorful, and coconut shrimp was some of the best I've ever had. A solid place for a meal after a day at Chichen Itza. read more

This place is located inside the Chichen Itza archaeological site and this is the only restaurant there. The food is really good too. We tried Yucatan dishes and I must say I love it. They use the chillies grown in the area and it's got a really nice taste. I would love to make some dishes using those chillies. This place is a blessing for those visiting chichen itza! We went there on a winter noon, yet we were so hot and drained after the visit. Stepping out of the place, we saw this restaurant which had most yelp reviews, and we quickly decided to grab some food and drinks here. There is an AC sitting section which is the best to beat the heat from the day's visit to chichen itza. Once we were seated, we quickly ordered lemonades and beers to cool down a little. Next we ordered burrito, nachos and pizza, all of which were pretty good. The service was good and people were really friendly. Excellent service and great food! We appreciated that it was a bit healthier than the all inclusive resort we've been staying at. Hubby had a shrimp and pineapple dish and I had a mixed green salad and the lime soup. Each of us polished off our dishes which were fresh, flavorful (there was a habanero sauce with Andrew's shrimp dish that made him sweat a bit, and the stronger flavor of lime in my soup gave it an edge over traditional tortilla soup). We also had 2 blended juices, both lime and strawberry. Both were refreshing and fresh! We could have had a third or even a 4th! Our server was also excellent. She had a great smile and was friendly and prompt. We really have absolutely no complaints. Given that this is right near the park, it's a bit on the speedier side ($55 for 2 people). This was fine with us as we enjoyed the food and the convenience of being inside the park, but it's something to note and the reason we didn't go for a full 5 stars. Overall, a really solid bet that neither you nor your party are likely to be disappointed by. read more

One of the best fusion food we have got in chichenitza so far. Chichenitza is near the town of piste which is pretty remote - nothing of this short can be found in USA. It has familiar setting of remoteness that I found in India villages and places in Costa Rica .considering that one can appreciate this restaurant more as they served very good Italian dish. It is also located right inside the chichenitza campus which has 9/10 things to see in chichenitza. Food is little expensive 20$ per person. read more

The two people I was with both LOVED their food (a vegetarian pizza and tapas and guac) but mine (chilaquiles) was just bland; however, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the chips were very good. I love this place. It is a very relaxing dinner after a rough night at the pyramids. The fish is absolutely exquisite and tuna tar tar is beyond life. I also got a taco like dish. Friendly inviting waitstaff provide a nice introduction to a pleasant meal. The cuisine is local and wonderful. We had the cochinita pibil, the ensalada de la casa, the salbutes, and the panuchos. The salad was fresh and crisp, with local vegetables and a light dressing on the side. The rest of the food including the panuchos and salbutes were warm and brought out as soon as they were complete. We ate our hearts out and left Chichen Itza with smiles on our faces. This was a pleasant conclusion to our visit to the ruins. I highly recommend visiting Oxtun restaurant once you finish your visit to the ruins. read more

After a long day at Chichen Itza, my boyfriend and I just wanted to relax and enjoy a small appetizer. After being attracted by the interesting name, we decided to try Oxtun. We ordered some nachos and water, and the first sign that this was a sub par restaurant was that the waitress didn't even bother to give us glasses, just tossing a bottle of water onto the table. Then, when our nachos came, we were horrified to discover that they were covered not in real cheese, but the disgusting fake nacho cheese sauce that one would normally find at a 7/11. As if that wasn't bad enough, cheese sauce wasn't even melted all the way. After our horrible service we resolved not to leave a tip, but were shocked when we recieved our check and were informed that a 10% service charge would be added. All in all, this restaurant was a severe disappointment. Instead of finding authentic Mexican food at a national Mexican landmark, we found the type of Mexican food you find in a shitty gas station in Maine. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more
