It was packed with people, which was a good sign. We enjoyed all our dishes, especially the tiger prawns, octopus, and seafood rice. The sangria was average. Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

Anifa, what can I say about the most amazing human, who took time to sit and chat with every patron and regale us with stories of his life, travels, and listened to ours without judgement and with a very keen love of life. My friend forever after our trip. Everyone should have a friend like Anifa. Yash. The drinks made by Yash were short of heavenly. The world's famous mixologists have nothing on him. I know he will be a great man in any career he so chooses, and the world will be better for this. The food was amazing, every dish exquisite. The BEST Seafood Risotto I have had in my entire life. The chef, whose name escapes me, will get a Michelin star someday. I should've written down his name to follow his career. If anyone reading this has it, please dm me. The 3 nights we spent in Lisbon, all ended up at Carmo. Thanks to Anifa and Yash for an incredible time, amazing human connection, and the best meals and drinks of Lisbon. Our paths will cross again.

The choco frito had a light batter on top and you could tell it was really fresh because it was so light and bouncy. The bolinhos de bacalhau were also a highlight; creamy potato filling with codfish mixed in. The asparagus and jamon with scrambled eggs provided a nice balance to our meal. I'm always a sucker for well made scrambled eggs. My favorite dish by far was the arroz de pato. It was packed with smoked duck flavor, and accented with charred sausage and bacon on top. The dishes were on the smaller end, so we ended up getting 5-6 dishes for three people.

I'm so incredibly impressed. I loved that this place was in the ground floor of our hotel…read more Frederico is the expert on hospitality. He is so kind. He will talk to you for hours and teach you about food and wine and culture and talk about the history of food and how it came to be in Portugal. I loved it. I learned so much. I aspire, as an American, to learn from and look up to other cultures. I feel very honored to have dined in a restaurant managed by him on our trip to Portugal. I'm going to recommend to our travel coordinator to add this restaurant to the Google map recommendations list because more people need to go to this place - they need more tables, more space, because I'm convinced this is such a hidden gem that should be exposed to the masses to enjoy! We visited several wineries and this restaurant had the best wine - bar none! The fish, a fish I hadn't tried before, was deliciously seasoned, falls apart with the fork, the creamy rice was just divine. I normally will never eat little cherry/grape tomatoes - ever - but the perfect bite of fish, creamy rice, and a tomato was... perfection. The menu is deeply curated; flavors - textures - wines that make sense. You can tell Frederico what you normally like and he 100% knows what wines he has that you will love. The tomato, orange, ham, salad, was absolutely balanced and delicious. I'm so grateful that our first trip to Portugal we got to meet Frederico and dine with these wonderful people who love food and wine as much as us. I'll never forget it as long as I live. You will not be disappointed. Promise.

Whoa, I can tell you you can a lot of bang for your buck here or euro. Started off with a pitcher…read moreof sangria. My wife said it was some of the best she's had in the city. Did I mention you get a lot for your money... next on to the grilled sardines...I guess that's an acquired taste because neater my wife or myself liked them...but they sure did look appetizing on the plate when they came out...maybe with some beer and saltine crackers on a fishing trip, my opinion would be different because I love sardines in the can... next the seafood rice.... delicious.. down to the last spoonful... again did mention how reasonable the prices are... last the desert... they were out of the rice pudding... so no desert... I must mentioned they charge for everything..water, bread, butter, only thing they didn't charge me for was the napkins and silverware.... but even with all those hidden charges the price was still reasonable. I'll be back to Santa Rita next time I'm in town. Like I promised, I came back and I think it was even better after a long day in Porto.

They also had a bacalhau dish with cheese and looked like baked ziti when served. It was different in a good tasty way and probably my favorite dish from the meal. Octupus salad was okay and feel like there should be more flavor to it. The server was kind and provided good service but a little too much. We just wanted to eat but kept making extra commentary. When we went it was a not so busy night (or early since we ate our dinner at 7:30) Mostly, dinner time in Portugal is 9:30pm.
