I like turtles
Holly S.

The first time I came here, the blonde bartender asked me what my favorite color was. When I told her she brought me a cherrie bomb to try out and it was amazing! I love the vibe here. They definitely have a lot of regulars and bartenders who love what they do. The regulars here are playing a great variety of country, rock, pop and blues. I felt very welcomed here and learned some new drinks. They have several pool tables and a kind of natural vibe with all the flowers and turtles in the cieling. The last time I invited a friend...the regulars all knew my friend. The lighting is nice and dim. The outside area is a bit smaller but I'm ok with this. You probably will want to be inside for the dart, pool, and music action anyway. I will definitely come back.

The pop corn isn't the only thing popping at this bar. This bar is gods glory hole. The best hole in the wall. Voluptuous assets behind the bar. Are you a turtle?

Thirsty turtle is tucked away in an inconspicuous shopping center off the freeway and if not for the large sign you'd never know it was there.

Recently we hosted our Morrissey After Party at Bang Bang Bar, following the former Smiths…read morefrontman's sold-out January 10th performance at the Boeing Center at Tech Port and honestly, we couldn't have written a better script. Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros. Fans waited up to 45 minutes in the cold, with a line wrapping around the building, and the energy inside never dipped. As the host of Panic On The Streets, I'm incredibly thankful to Bang Bang Bar for helping us pull off one of the best after-parties we've done in years. Fittingly, 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of both Bang Bang Bar and Panic On The Streets of San Antonio and what a way to celebrate. Bang Bang Bar has long been one of my favorite bars in town, and after this night, that reputation is more than earned. Can't wait to do another Moz Smiths Disco here. -- Panic On The Streets of San Antonio

They were happy to answer my questions and I was never made to feel rushed. The bar itself has an awesome vibe. It's divey but offer fancy drinks. The bar has a stage (we've seen FEA perform there) and they have ample seating (tables, couches, stools, etc). I also enjoy how each couch area is its own living room setup (think of what you see when shopping for couches/coffee tables) and feel/vibe. I make it a point to come and visit this bar any time I'm in San Antonio. We love supporting Phanie and her bands in any way possible. Girl in a Coma and FEA 4ever!

On recommendation from Jamie I came to Red Eye for happy hour. Our bartender is (I'm sitting here now) Shanks and he's very attentive once he gets to know you. My sister just arrived and ordered her normal vodka-soda. It is ALMOST CB's strong. She even coughed! We're drinkin' Stella at $3 each during happy hour. The clientele is pretty much as Jamie said; mostly high end blue collar with some exceptions on each end. There was one VERY drunk woman get who I heard exclaim "I told you I don't like fuc***g Mexicans! I told you I only fu** whites and blacks!" wait, it gets better... "what?.. no, I'm a teacher and I should try to keep a low profile" I laughed out loud. I'm already pretty drunk so I'll do more later but just a note: guys, you either need a very narrow ass or a very long dick to use a urinal. I can use them but I'm not tellin' which reason. Mmmmmm free shot... thanks Shanks! Okay, now I totally like this little joint!

The bartenders/waitstaff were likely the most attentive I have experienced in San Antonio. The food (picadillo tacos and wings) was excellent and cooked to perfection. The bar was nearly at capacity for trivia and the host, Ross, was fantastic. I greatly enjoyed the lighting and ambience in the bar after the sun went down and appreciated all the vintage touches (i.e., tin roof over the main bar, old classic doors). Lastly, and very importantly, the men's room was immaculate. I will absolutely return to frequent this establishment. Update to review for the owner: Please have reliable set-up for trivia projection. A small request, but still five stars for this establishment. The hot Cootey's style wings are amongst the best wings I have ever tried.

I tried it during the later afternoon and the vibe was even more chill. There were some regulars and we chit chatted about where we were all from and funny Cooteys stories. I played some music from my seat on TouchTunes and overall had a very relaxing time. Others were playing great jams too and wow I can't remember the last time I heard Beach Boys. But I'm here for it. Just a heads up.. This is one of those spots that charges a $20 holding credit card fee. But atleast they gave me a heads up instead of throwing it on me last minute and giving me the choice of cash. Bathrooms were very clean and well kempt. This place knows how to do fun right.

We asked the mixologist to put his own spin on old fashions and he delivered. I'm addicted to the spicy cinnamon version that he created! The quail pops were a nice little appetizer although they could have used a bit more seasoning. I think the drink and app prices were very reasonable. Service was laid back and friendly. My only reco would be to maybe put a bit more thought into the vintage decor and secret restroom. The restroom lock was hard to figure out, especially after a drink or two lol. Overall this Speakeasy is a great spot to add a bit of intrigue to your evening.
