Amazing service I felt spoiled went back two times everyone was friendly and they made me feel like a true queen

Went on May 6th to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. It was an amazing night, the bartender was very attentive to us and we were very pleased with the $3 shot spinning wheel that they have. We went back last Saturday and Lily was the sweetest bartender ever. She made us a Cosmo (strong as hell...like we like it). It's not a bar where you'll run into lots of people, it's a dive bar. Get to know your bartender and you'll find that they'll be very attentive. We're all people and deserve to be respected. Drinks are not expensive AT ALL unless you're cheap. That's it-Sorry. I wonder if the investors who own this place have ever been in a bloody bar !?! I devoutly wish this place would succeed. It's within walking distance. But it stinks out loud. Rather than go to Fizz, spend your free time waiting around at the Dept of Motor Vehicles ... doesn't even matter if they're open you'll still have more fun. The management puts no value at all on training staff for this morgue. I stop in every three or four months hoping it's been taken over by someone who wants to run a bar. No luck so far. For years I've visited around seasonal holidays. They always have the mandatory decorations and the same 200 TV's playing the same channel, usually sports. The staff doesn't care if customers want to listen to music or watch something else. They'll never ask and if customers ask they're told "I can't" or "I don't know how". Staff are apparently hired solely for their looks by others at least as ignorant and uninterested in tending bar as they are. read more

This is what a proper Fernet should look like. What my fiance and I received was something that resembled chocolate milk. The bartender did not honor the happy hour prices...VERY OVER PRICED!!! To top it off, they served the wrong shot and got me sick!!! Not recommended!!!! read more

DO NOT waste your time and $ .. unless you enjoy being treated like you are a total inconvenience to the unfriendly, unwelcoming staff. I do not believe any of the good reviews are authentic. One reviewer admits he tends bar here. Except for the nonspecific nonsense written by " Matt O" all the (bogus) good reviews are years old. Apparently current (mis)management doesn't even bother making as many phony, good reviews as their predecessors. I live a short walk away and I've never seen more than two or three patrons inside as I pass by. Decided to finally check it out late on a Friday night. Three people were there including the rude bartender who apparently resents working there and treats customers accordingly. Prices are HIGH quality of service is LOW. You'll have more fun running out of gas in heavy traffic. No matter how low your expectations..Fizz will manage to disappoint. read more

Fizz has Fizzled Out Awww sorry Fizz... but something happened in the last 6 months. You've changed :( Fizz is a dive, still maintains that awesomeness and it is exactly as previously described as far as "looks"... but the vibe is off. Granted I wanted drinks on a wednesday night... However, no bar that I recommend should be filled with men in their 60's, a jukebox playing music from the 1920's (serious, we're talking pre-elvis) and one sad, older waitress in a "sexy" obviously required to wear outfit, topped off with orthopedic shoes. Boyfriend and I wanted a cheap night out, preferable nearby. We live in apartments right behind Fizz so we walked. Thank God! The cheap drinks got us fairly buzzed, so we had a blast walking home (plenty of giggles ensued). The drinks were cheap and pretty strong and the bartenders were super friendly. The place was kinda empty for 10:30 on a Saturday night, but by the time we were ready to leave (12ish), the DJ had showed up and was starting to spin some good Top 40/Dance remixes and the crowd was starting to pick up. If you want low noise level and just a calm time, I'd say go before 10. If you want a normal bar experience, head there after 11. Not sure if the DJ always starts that late, but I'd have preferred him arrive earlier. read more

This bar is very boring. Its pretty much a bar for old people and I am not talking about people in their 40s, more people 50 and up. Now I've been here before, but I am not a regular. They do have good drinks on tap and the atmosphere is okay but its for old timers. The old bartender lady doesn't even remember me from the last time I was in here lol. First time I went it was awesome. Second time, it smelled like vomit and we quickly left. Third time (weeks later) smelled like vomit still. Fourth time? You guessed it, vomit smell. I have been going to Fizz since it pretty much opened and I have always had a good time. Good People!! Yes, it is kind of a small strip mall bar that can get busy on the weekends. Smells like old cigarettes since you can't smoke in there anymore. Drinks are the norm. I would like the place a lot more if they turned off half of the lights. It has an eerie glow of LED lights that become annoying after a drink or two. It seems like a douche-bag free environment so that is a super plus in San Antonio. read more
