Another staff member that was actively helping another customer had to stop what she was doing to say hello and offer to assistance after she was done. That's when the other staff member then decided to offer her assistance. She replaced my frames, asked if they were OK, then left and proceeded to chat away again with the gentleman. I wasn't even offered a new case. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

As an experienced thrifter and reseller small towns are usually the best places to score vintage. I went in with high hopes of leaving with lots of goodies. I took my own bag but surprise, Maryland and Virginia Goodwill's do provide bags unlike Pa. Once inside I was greetly warmly by a lady probably in her mid 80's who was welcoming and rattled off the specials. This location was on the smaller size and had a room full of clothes, shoes, and a shelf of seasonal and just when I thought there was nothing else to see I discovered a room with everything else. This space felt unheated and was a little rough, like it was once a garage but it was full of housewares, electronics, linens, toys, and and small amount of furniture and bigger items. Along the walls were bags of misc and like items bundled together in bags. I've seen this done on thrifting videos but never live. Each bag was around $5 give or take depending on size. While the store was neat and organized this unheated space felt like an afterthought and wasn't as nice as the main store. Prices were alot higher than I'm used to in PA, but the quality was decent. I didn't see any damaged items. I also didn't see alot of the vintage I was expecting to find and walked out only with a goodie bag of crocheted doilys for $3.49 , taking a gamble that none were stained. Upon checking out I encountered the sweet older lady again, who was just as warm and friendly with her goodbye as she was her welcome. The world needs more people like her. SIDENOTE: I did not see a dressing room and other thrift stores in the area had theirs closed. Masks were also required.

Goodwill has gotten to be more of a Kmart than a thrift store since they've been taken over by…read moreGoodwill of Arizona and are no longer under the Goodwill of Maryland management. I can't understand why they must separate power cords from electronics or shades from lamps. They also separate the better quality items to sell strictly online and not in the stores. Goodwill of Maryland had a policy NOT to charge more than 40% retail and Goodwill of Arizona is consistently charging MSRP or even above. No longer a bargain.

They are a larger store than it appears outside, but not too large to give you that special hometown feel service. Some items may be a bit higher, but for the convenience, and to save on gas, I will say their prices are fair. They have greenhouses outside that I have purchased beautiful flowers from. They have an extremely large paint department where you can find any supplies you might need. They carry Benjamin Moore paint and will tint it with spot on accuracy. Craig, one of the owners, is a locksmith. Long before key fobs, I had to use his services. It was after hours, but he was there quickly. He charged a reasonable price, and worked quickly. The truck is painted nicely with the Ace logo, his shirt also id'd him as an Ace representative which I consider very professional. I have nothing but nice things to say about this store that I have utilized since I moved to Thurmont in the 80's. It has only gotten better!

For some reason, none of the Frederick stores had any iphones other than the newly-released 12. Besides being a budget-buster, I was afraid the learning curve would be too much for me. I was fine with anything else, but no one really had anything else in stock (side note--how do they do business if they don't have phones to sell? accessories, maybe?). The other stores could order something and have it in a few days, but my phone had stopped working, so I needed to leave with something that day. Well first of all, who knew that Thurmont has or even has a need for a Verizon wireless store? It actually popped up on my search for Hagerstown stores. I was the only customer in the store, was attended to promptly, and left with a working phone! The employee was great; I cannot remember his name but he had the cool hair. Honestly, if I need anything else I'll probably come here for it; odds are, there will be less of a wait and better inventory. I also got food from the Asian restaurant next door and it was good (in case you can't justify driving to Thurmont just to go to a cell phone store).

The employees could not help with her phone, claimed the phone was broken. Could not explain how the phone would be broken and still work on wifi. They proceeded to tell me she needed a new phone. I told them to give me the info so I could figure out what the best plan was for my family. They continued pursuing the idea of selling us a new phone. I told them that I do not buy phones, the only phones I get are the free promo phones. We don't do fancy or expensive in my house. They continued anyway. The boy "helping" us brought out a fancy new phone and gave it to my daughter. There was still no discussion of cost. He said there was a line upgrade for my number & we could use that for her new phone. Again, he did not discuss the possibility of this raising my monthly bill, or any costs with this at all. He downloaded an app & transferred her data to the new phone. Again without discussing of costs. On the invoice I saw he charged $50 to do this. This is absolutely ridiculous. We went home with this new phone. I was led to believe what I paid in the shop was the total costs, this was completely fictional. And the phone did not work after getting home with it. It had been flagged for fraud. Another employee fixed that issue the following day. Again no discussing of the costs of this phone. I checked my Verizon app and my estimated bill was now nearly doubled!!!!!! This is completely unacceptable. Verizon is saying this store is an authorized dealer, but not a Verizon store. They have no control or say over what this store does. BEWARE!!!!!!!!! The practices of this store fell more than unethical, it feels criminal to me.

There's always a wide variety of items from tools, furniture cabinet, flooring, and many other things I available for purchase a lot of times especially on days where they're running a really good sale. The fact that they run sales on items that are already discounted makes me come back and the quality of the good so you are inspected before being put on the floor so you don't have to wonder if it works or not. But if you're buying something electrical, you can always check to make sure before you buy which I appreciate.
