BTW, my son got a super-easy minimal Rx pair of glasses here that took him over a month to receive. Walmart is a much better alternative with FAST SERVICE. **This rating is my initial reaction and is strictly for excellent "above and beyond" service from Shawn. She is one of the best customer service personnel I have ever come across! Shawn printed out my insurance benefits and detailed my costs for frames and lenses. I have not yet had the glasses made. Will appropriately update review depending on how exactly specific the Rx from my opthalmologist is followed, and of course how long the wait to receive the glasses.

Never occurred to me that a retail optician would be closed at 5 pm M_F and on completely closed on saturday, so i went on saturday. (travel time one hour!). picked up days later at 830 am on a weekday, delaying arrival to work by also an hour. then glasses made very wrong-- total failure to include the 2.5 prism in each lens, causing me to see double while driving, rather dangerous. obviously didnt bother to check prescription on the lenses before giving to me. Brought them back a few days later (while wearing old ones) when i could manage to get there when they were open, verified by checking lens (30 second task) . sent them to remake. then lost them in transit. finally got them again. inside of a week, one lens fell out while working quietly at desk. i put it back in, seated it properly, tightened both screws very tightly. two days later, same lens fell out while i was biking. same day the other lens fell out. inserted both properly, seated clearly in the groves. switched to old glasses again. took them back (another hour travel!). was told that i just didnt seat them properly (i had, they managed to unseat themselves in 24 hours) asked for refund. will see if i actually get it so: 2 months, 6 trips, hours wasted in travel time and work vacation time AND no glasses. Back to Visionworks in Rockville, MD lousy parking, but at least their glasses work.

It was my yearly exam time and I was sent multiple links to schedule an appointment. I scheduled…read moremy appointment and got in quickly. Found the glasses I wanted and paid a bunch of money for new glasses, lenses and the not covered new retina imagining which I was told i needed being a diabetic and there was no other alternative available. It was about 2 weeks later and my significant other had her appointment and I asked her to check on my glasses while she was there. She did and the lady told her that my order got canceled. She asked her why? The lady wasn't sure. The lady told her she was going to reorder them. Now I wasn't notified of the order being canceled which I thought was odd but anyways it was back on order. Fast forward, two weeks and my significant other gets the call to come and get her glasses. I asked her to check on mine... yep you guessed it... Canceled again! this lady said she will reorder with putting the order in differently. Now mind you I didn't get notified that this order was canceled either. I'm pretty upset because I have paid a crap ton of money for something that I don't have in my possession. It's now about a week and a half later and my significant other tells me she got a call about picking up her contacts. So I decide to call, I have to listen to all the BS about press this button and so they can send you text links. I know that's not gonna work for me because of the issues I've had. So I get someone to answer the phone by pressing 4 and holding for someone to answer. Someone answers the phone and says their typical greeting and please hold. I didn't get a chance to say Ok and I was on hold. That was like maybe 3 minutes into my call, I am currently on hold at 51 minutes. I can only imagine how this is gonna go. They appreciate me calling and my call is important to them! Well it must not be that important once they have my money. At 55 minutes on hold, I decided to call from my other phone and someone now immediately answers and wants to help me. Yep you guessed it she took my name and now back on hold. Her name was Lilly and she got back to me fairly quickly and gave me the status of my order and she told me I should have my glasses in a week or so. Total call time on that call was close to 10 minutes. Lilly just so happens to be the lady that my significant other talked to the last time she went in to pick her stuff up and she was very helpful with her as well. The problem is with the system. There should be some form of notification when a order gets canceled for the MyEyeDr. team to follow up on it and figure out what they need to do next. Not waiting on the customer who is wanting the items that they paid for to call in inquirin. I have been a patient in this office for many years and it is going down hill. It is sad to say the least. I will say they have significant turn over even with the doctors. The doctors have been great and some of the support staff. It's all the other pieces that making this office fail. You now have to pay in full, where I remember paying only a percentage and the rest due at the time of pickup. They are convenient and when I had to get in quickly they worked me in. For routine eye exams, they are often a month or more out unless you call and get on a cancellation list. They office has always been clean and tidy. Some of the staff are not very friendly to the point of almost.

They replaced them under warranty and the new lenses did the same thing. The second pair had been sitting in a case in the dresser drawer and hadn't even been worn as they were my spare glasses. They refused to replace them. Basically they got paid for making two faulty pairs of glasses and refused to stand behind them. Terrible customer service.

Over the past week, I've gone to the ER three separate times because I was feeling lightheaded and on the verge of passing out. I live alone, so I was genuinely concerned and wanted to be around medical professionals in case something serious happened. Each time, I tried to explain potential triggers--like foods I'd eaten, medications, or supplements I'd taken--but I felt treated like a second-class citizen. I had to repeatedly press the call button just to get someone to check on me. As a former combat medic, I was shocked by the complete lack of routine patient checks or "roving" rounds by nurses. I literally had to walk the staff through how to help me. It's no wonder some combat veterans reach a breaking point and take drastic action, like the veteran who recently made headlines by taking his life in front of a VA hospital. One nurse--who had visible tattoos and a nose ring--eventually apologized for the staff not checking in more often. I understand that in 2025, tattoos and facial piercings are common and accepted even in medical settings, but the overall decline in professionalism and care still blows my mind. During initial intake, an older nurse took my vital signs. I kept bringing up possible causes for my symptoms (medications, foods, reactions), but she seemed dismissive--almost annoyed--and barely paid attention. I could read the lack of interest all over her face. The more I reflect on these experiences, the more determined I am to report them to leadership outside the VA system. I recently moved here from Illinois, where I'd heard great things about this particular VA hospital. I was far from impressed. The one bright spot was a nurse who wheeled me for a chest X-ray and made small talk. She mentioned another veteran who had advised "changing your socks and staying hydrated," but she admitted she had no idea what that meant in a military context. As a former Marine Corps combat medic, I explained the reference--to prevent trench foot and maintain basic field hygiene. It's disheartening that a VA hospital, which is supposed to be uniquely attuned to veterans' needs and experiences, feels so detached from the military culture we come from.
