    HOT COFFEE!
    Magnolia M.

Hidden gem in East Falls! Thunder Mug is a chill, no-frills coffee spot tucked away on Ridge Ave. I had the za'atar croissant. It was flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor. Totally elevated the usual croissant game. The drip coffee was hot and smooth. Super friendly service. Definitely recommend!

It's a nice space w a lot of seating. The staff was nice, offered input on the menu. The coffee is p good, smooth and flavorful, with a variety of options. They had a decent selection of pastries and also had breakfast sandwiches. The owner seemed grumpy which made me less willing to return despite the good coffee, space, and staff.

I always love going to Thunder Mug. The coffee is tasty, the staff are nice, and they have really comfy chairs to read in.

Tried the ridge ave location. Had espresso & beignets. Hubby had ham n cheese croissant. Marvelous. Nice quiet reading/working nook where we sat and ate. Definitely will be back. A must try

My favorite spot for unique pastries and good coffee. Thundermug is a hidden gem and always has such a good variety of pastries to pair with your morning coffee. They also have an outdoor patio with lots of seating inside. The service is always so helpful and informative. I see them at the farmers market and always grab a coffee in passing. Inside has a seating place for whatever you want to do. Ambiance is great.

Amazing service, great coffee, even better atmosphere! We got the cereal milk latte and an iced strawberry latte. They were both delicious and averaged about $5.50 each. The croissant was SO good. This is the type of pastry you'd pay $7-9 for somewhere else, and here it was only $3.50! This establishment is worth the stop if you're in the area. Everyone was kind and everything is super good!

I had some friends recommend Thunder Mugs as a nice, local coffee joint. The type of place you could pop in for your daily coffee. We wanted to try somewhere new and you're able to order online. We did an order of some coffee and pastries. I had an iced mocha, a cheese danish, and a croissant. Coffee was delicious. Nice chocolate flavor. The croissant and cheese danish had a perfect pastry. The cheese danish was a little light on the cheese, but so good! Definitely going to be coming back!

Cute little local coffee shop with some inside and outside sidewalk seating. Only a few items on the menu but my latte was well made and deliciously foamy. I love the cute logo on the cup. They have a case of pastries and had two types of donuts. There were fluffy au fournil filled donuts-I had the vanilla crème patisserie. And they also had okiedokie donuts.

    Enjoying an espresso!

I have trying to save money and not buy coffee recently and that makes driving or walking past this spot all the more difficult. But, when I do feel lazy or the weather is just right I just love to get a warm coffee or drink from Thunder mug! The bakery selection is lovely and I always get a hand pie. They come out smoking hot! My personal favorite is the curry chicken. This is also a small business and the owner is just the nicest lady. Shop local and enjoy a Thunder mug coffee!

Cortado was good but they charged me 1.50 extra for 2 ounces of oat milk. Kind of insane.

The poke itself was very fine. Not a lot of options in either the fish department or the toppings department. And there are up charges for a lot of ingredients I feel are typically standard, like seaweed salad. I also got a creme brûlée drink which was definitely not worth the money. It feels mom and pop which I appreciate and do feel like with some small additions to their poke options this could be a nice spot if you're in the area.

The…read morefolks who run the place are super nice and attentive, definitely family-run, and because of that I am going to do what I can to support this local business because we don't need another chain joint in our area. And good on them for taking a risk on Bala village where few retail businesses have been willing to invest. Similar vibe inside to when it was Trails End but they have opened up all of the internal space for dining so plenty of options to sit inside on a cold day. Lots of take-out snacks and drinks are available for trail users, including a nice selection of iced cream bars, coffee, bars, etc. On to the food. I absolutely love ramen, so honestly, I'm happy to have someplace in our neighborhood where I can get a decent bowl. Overall everything was good. Solid bowl of homemade ramen. Not at the level of places like Hiro or Terakawa, but not at all flat and the noodles were well cooked. I got it with shrimp tempura which came with 2 small but super crunchy shrimp that went well with the soup. Also, I got an order of takoyaki which actually was surprisingly yummy. Good texture and flavor came on a nice little bed of lettuce. Again, not the best takoyaki ever, but still pretty yummy. Was happy with the milk tea I got, tasted home-brewed and they got my sugar level just right. The tapioca was just ok. My spouse got a creme brulé bubble tea which was similar to mine but with a custardyness to it that I was jealous of. For a small shop run by 2 people that sells a lot of different things in a super odd location in Bala, this place surprised me with how good it was. I'm giving it 5 stars because they are new and are still building the business and getting the kinks out. I really do think this place can become awesome if people keep going and give them feedback to allow them to make it even better. I wonder if having so many options (poke, ramen, etc) is hurting them as people are used to either going to a poke place or a ramen place. Is it possible to do both types of food really well, maybe. But honestly, I think if they chose one and really nailed it, this place would take off. My vote is for ramen, but that's just because I'm not big on poke and there are already a number of sushi spots in our area. Overall, if you live in the area, and have a craving for some poke, ramen, or bubble tea. Please, support them, and help them get even better! I'm rooting for Platform Z!

Pilgrims is still a solid coffee shop and it's ran by the same smiling face behind the counter. Overall this place has great coffee, pastries and a casual ambiance that's perfect for people to get some work done. They've continued to offer more food & drink options that include prepackaged grab & go snacks like granola bars or chocolate milk. They also sell their coffee beans and some other coffee & non coffee related nicknacks. As for my initial review, I'm happy to report my tastebuds have matured and I don't need a million sugary drink options to be satisfied with a coffee shop. Pilgrims does have a larger menu with the option to add flavor to just about anything now but I wouldn't come to pilgrims looking for an elaborate seasonal "designer" latte with toppings. They might make a seasonal drink but i don't think it'll have as much sugar as some other shops that sell diabetes in a cup

Got it in a diner mug-- love drinking coffee at coffee shops in a mug. It just makes the coffee taste better, and I'm not sure how. This feels like a talking and catching up-priority coffee shop. Tables are a bit smaller, and the chairs not as comfy for long term sitting. However, the wi-fi remains strong, and it was good enough for 2 hours of work. I also had an outlet nearby ready, but didn't end up having to use it today. Coffee is great too! I love places that roast on-house and have their own beans, b/c you know that they care an extra bit more about the quality of their stuff. Will be back!
