This place is...interesting. On the plus side, I took my 4-year-old twins and their admission was super cheap ($5.95 each, I think) and they loved the kiddie pool and two toddler slides. But there are a lot of cons: The pavement is super hot and rough, at a water park where you have to walk barefoot. The whole place could use a face lift; it doesn't look like they've painted or upgraded anything since the 1970s. I don't consider myself a worry wort, but safety regulations seemed pretty lax; on the tube slide there was one corner where the tube went so far up the side I think it's only a matter of time before someone goes over. All the staff are teenagers or 20-somethings; not a problem in and of itself but you kind of wonder who's at the helm. And the locker rooms were laughable--just a bunch of plywood thrown together. I think it's "fine" overall but definitely not great. read more

Owner will happily take your money, but in the event of poor weather will close the park and make it extremely difficult to issue a rain check. Insists on original receipt from gate.Do Not Throw It Away or you get NOTHING when they close, even if you have your wristbands and tickets for other rides you will get nothing without original receipt. My family came from out of state and made Thunder Island a specific destination. While all of the staff was great, the owner, Ron, was completely WORTHLESS. A large loud abusive family fight that had occurred and the owner did as little as possible to difuse the situation. I am thoroughly disgusted because when I brought it to his attention all he could say was "Mam I'm sorry but I did all I could." Absolute lie. Not only will we NEVER spend our te or money, but I suggest no other person or especially family should. read more

This is a cute little water park. Especially great for kids 5-10. Our kids had a nice time with the only major complaint being how HOT the cement was trying to walk from slide to slide. The pavement was so hot, yet there wasn't really anywhere convenient to leave your shoes at each slide. The price to get it is pricey for the size of the park but we still felt like it was worth it. Also, make sure your swim suits don't have rivets, as those are not allowed. We didn't know that and they cut them right out of my kids swim suits with scissors. read more

The park is tucked into a rural area without too much signage. Pricing is excellent for 4 and under ($5!) and a little pricey for the older crowd (up to $30 if you want to do water slides and the other attractions). The water slides/kiddie lazy river are well maintained and very nice. I thought my 5 year old might run out of things to do but he loved doing the few slides over and over for 4-plus hours happily. I had fun too! Especially on rides we could do tandem, like the tube slide. I appreciated that parents were allowed to slide with the kiddos on the kid slides and that as my kiddo got braver I could transition to the pool or chair/lounge area with good sight lines. The race cars were speedy and fun and the mini golf course was beautiful. Food was overpriced, as you would expect ($4 for an ice cream sandwich! cash only for refreshments) but they let you bring in a cooler of your own food. A few complaints: 1) as the other reviewer said, the pavement was HOT, burning your feet. My son wore water shoes and was fine-- I wish I had thought to bring myself a pair. 2) The lifeguards had widely varying levels of attention and adherence to rules. There was a camp there so things were especially crazy with kids everywhere, but for the majority of time there was no staff member at the top of the kid slides directing traffic! This led to tons of pushing and budging, multiple kids going down at once, etc. Honestly, I'm surprised there were not more injuries. The lifeguard at the bottom would sometimes ask kids to follow the rules, but more often than not do nothing or not even face the slides to monitor things! That being said, I observed lifeguards being really sweet to kids, especially special needs kids. read more

It's pretty damn shitty. The water slides are small and crappy the plastic is ruff at the end of the toilet bowl slide the plastic cuts you open and you fall into 2 foot deep water water and your feet are destroyed. The zipline literally goes faster backwards them it does forwards. The employees suck one time we gave them money and they gave us incorrect change and they dented We have them a 100 and stole 20 dollars from us. Another time I asked for 20 dollars of hangs for an arcade game there I was the only one in the arcade the employee watched me put all of my money into one machine trying to win it then I won it and a prize didn't come out the employee decided to tell me after 15 minutes and 20 dollars of playing the game that the machine was broke and she can't get me a prize because there not aloud to open it. The only fun part there is the slow overpriced go karts that run out of gas every few minutes but that's it. read more
