It is so rare to have a meal for that many people that pleases everyone, and yet she accomplished it. Laura's husband dropped off the meal right on time, with instructions on how to heat up the entrees which was quite easy. We enjoyed a few appetizers (multiple people said it was "the best eggplant dip they had ever had"), then sat down for a beautiful meal with an amazingly fresh salad and delicious entrees. So for the last year or more, the quality of the bread has deteriorated to the point that it is inedible. I don't know how many times I've gone back there anticipating that they might work it out. Every sandwich I have bought there in over a year has had mushy bread. I bought a hot pastrami sandwich a few days ago and ate it there and the entire sandwich fell apart in my hand with the contents covering my hands from the crappy, mushy, wet garbage bread. That's what you get there: mushy, wet, bad tasting fall apart sandwiches. So I was blaming the bakery for the bad bread. However, my daughter who is an attorney was in the Syracuse courthouse 2 days ago and several friends of hers got on the subject of the Brooklyn Pickle. They were remarking about the bad bread and said they would never go there again and stopped going there months ago. So interestingly, this guy overheard the conversation and he was the owner of the bakery who supplies the bread to the Pickle. He introduced himself and they jumped all over him about his bread. So, he emphatically stated that the reason the bread was bad is because they freeze the bread! He knew it because that's what happens when his bread is frozen and he told the owner about it. He said they knew it and they were trying to save money. Yeah - OUR MONEY they're saving. I had a ham and cheese on light rye today that was inedible. The rye had a glazed feeling, it was sticky to the touch and when you held it in your hand the bread collapsed into a thin slice about a millimeter thick. I had to throw it out. It was disgusting. NEVER AGAIN! NEVER! Also their Mac salad looked and tasted (ugh!) like it was made a few days ago.
