SIPSyracuse was held at this venue again this year. So great to see a variety of wine and bourbon representatives present. Each vendor was very knowledgeable. The wine and bourbon tastings were on separate floors. There was also a BBQ sauce vendor and charcuterie tables spread throughout. I have appreciated some other vendors being present in the past but were not this year (i.e. chocolate vendors). In all, an afternoon well spent and being that it was held from 4p-7p there was still time to venture out for dinner after. read more

The owners, Nicole and her husband, are very kind and involved and Lisa the coordinator is incredible. They walked us through every step and the end result was the best day of our lives. Stopped here for their night market event, it was a fun time! Lots of little booths (all pretty repetitive but still enjoyable), live music, and enjoyed an adult beverage while shopping. I bought some handcrafted soaps, tried a sample of whiskey and amazing hand cream, and overall probably spent a good hour here. We won 2 entrance tickets ($5 each) via the Yelp giveaway. :) I have never been to sky armory but I know it's used for different venues/wedding receptions. It was a beautiful space! read more

I had the best experience at Sky Armory from the very first time I visited. Lisa was the absolute best person to work with and walks you through everything from the beginning to the entire wedding day. The tasting allowed us to pick our food which was just as good on the wedding day. The florist that works with them did all our center pieces for a reasonable price and they came out amazing. Lisa kept in touch and sent reminders of things we needed to do. She setup everything extra I brought and coordinated throughout the day. For everything we got it was such a reasonable price. I just had my wedding at SKY Armory this past weekend, and I have to say that we definitely made the right decision when choosing a venue! The space is beautiful and can be customized so much to what you want. For our fall wedding, we were able to incorporate lots of gold, greenery, and white pumpkins which were adorable. Lisa Gasque was our event coordinator and I cannot say enough good things about her. She made us feel so confident every step of the way. Traditionally, many couples have their wedding reception at a catering hall. While I've been to some of the best weddings I've experienced at catering halls, there are many venues out there that are tired and dated. Needless to say, when my friends told me they were having their wedding reception at SKY Armory in downtown Syracuse, it piqued my interest. The great thing about SKY is that it's really a blank canvas. Outside of what each client brings, it's really bare bones in terms of aesthetics. It has a modern, industrial look to it and has a very open feel with high ceilings and big windows on the back wall. The armory really fits into downtown Syracuse and the expansions they are looking to attain in this area - I was a fan. While each experience is specific to the venue you're attending, the bones of the armory such as food and service were solid. Food at catering halls isn't always the best, but what I experienced was good. We started with a small salad with pear which had a tasty dressing. For my main I had shrimp scampi - the sauce it came in was unlike any I've seen with shrimp scampi before - but it was good. The shrimp were large and it was a healthy portion. In addition to the cake for dessert, they had a small dessert bar with things like cookies and mini whoopie pies. Overall I had a fun experience at SKY. It may not be for everyone, but if you're looking for something a little less traditional for your next venue I would recommend. read more

Yay Love! And yay for SKY Armory being a great backdrop for a wedding reception! We had so much fun celebrating my cousin's recent marriage in this space. Before we had received the invites I didn't know this place was even a thing in downtown 'Cuse but it totally fits in with the neighborhood with its lofty feel and exposed brick and prime Armory Square location. Drinks were top notch all night long - the staff at Sky Armory had put together a specialty cocktail for the couple and it was DELICIOUS. Also delicious - ever single food station they had set up. For the Italian side of the fam - fresh pasta with your choice of sauce. I definitely tried two out of the three sauces and they were both perfetto. For the classic crowd - roast beef and mashed potatoes (these were so so good) and for the young hip kids - Korean street food. My first thought was "what kind of wedding reception is this!?" but I loved the customization nature and the options they offer up. The only dessert I remember was a peanut butter cheesecake - I had like 6 of these mini cakes and I don't regret it at all. Really, we couldn't have asked to attend a nicer reception. A few other random notes: Lounge furniture (sofas + ottomans) throughout the space was so smart. I liked not being forced to sit at my table all night. Bathrooms were light and bright and there were so many stalls. Such a blessing that I'm sure not many places think about. My friend and I went to the pop up restaurant during downtown dining week. If you are looking for a 5 star meal without breaking the bank, this is the time to do it. We got 3 courses for $25. Can't beat it. We added a wine pairing for $15 each. First of all, the environment swept me off of my feet. A large loft style room had strung light on the ceiling and every table was set to perfection in candlelight. A large window looks out onto Armory Square. For the 1st course, we each ordered the Winter Salad. Seasonal Mixed greens with honey champagne vinaigrette, pears, walnuts, and honey goat cheese. This was the most delicious salad I have ever had. The sweetness was balanced by the vinegar and each bite was absolutely amazing. This was paired with a prosecco that was light and mild. The 2nd course I ordered Pan seared sea scallop with salmon mousse, red onion, and capers. I like stepping out of my comfort zone for dining week and trying new things. Normally, salmon mousse wouldn't sound great. Wow, I'm so glad I ordered this. The uniqueness of each element was what made this dish a flavor explosion. This was paired with a wonderful rosé. My friend ordered Pan seared duck breast and said it was the most tender duck she'd ever had. For the 3rd course I ordered the fresh catch which was mahi mahi. It was served on top of roasted broccolini and roasted corn and avocado salsa. I have never had fish so juicy and flavorful. This was paired with a very smooth merlot. My friend ordered the lamb chops and was very happy with her choice. Everything was so good that we simply had to try the desserts as well. We ordered the Panna Cotta and the Entrement. The Panna Cotta had espresso and vanilla custard with a blood orange gellee. The Entrement was a flour less chocolate cake with raspberry mousse and rosewater meringue. Both were absolutely incredible! Service through our entire meal was perfectly timed. We didn't have to rush through a course to be ready for the next, but we also weren't waiting long after finishing before the next came along. I will definitely go back next year to try other things. SKY Armory is an urban, chic event venue featuring three loft-style ballrooms that can accommodate events from 50-900 people. Whether you're planning a wedding, a gala, or a corporate event, SKY will take care of all the details. SKY Armory works closely with their clients to create not just events, but experiences that are extraordinary and memorable. I've been hearing good things about SKY for a while now and was able to attend recently for a wedding. They have three loft-style ballrooms that can accommodate weddings for 50-400. They start with a blank canvas that can be easily transformed to reflect your style and personality. This particular wedding was Harry Potter themed, and SKY was able to work a lot of little details from the series into the wedding. We got together in one room for the ceremony, which was pretty quick, then moved into another section for the reception. The reception area was huge and nicely decorated, which was nicely decorated with Potter themed accents. Good sized dance floor in the middle. The employees were a mixed bag. Some of them seemed miserable and disinterested, while others had great attitudes and interacted with guests. There were two bartenders, one who just seemed annoyed with guests, while the other was great. I mentioned to her once that I didn't drink and was looking for non alcoholic beverages, and she mentioned that she didn't either and made a pretty good strawberry lemonade. And she definitely did, and remembered me and made one for me every time I went up. I suppose the biggest disappointment for me was the food. I'd heard so much how about good SKY's food was, but really wasn't blown away by it. Mini pork tacos, mac and cheese, and bruschetta were brought around as appetizers, and while I loved the bruschetta, I found the tacos and mac and cheese to just be okay. My main dish was a little disappointing as well. I chose the beef option, which ended up being steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus with a parmesean cream sauce. The cream sauce was delicious, but the steak was small and overcooked. The mashed potatoes had a good flavor, but were completely cold, as was the asparagus, which wasn't seasoned at all either. They had a dessert spread as well, s'mores cake pops, mini cheesecakes, cannolis, and another item that's esaping me at the moment. Most of it was very good, especially the s'mores cake pops. There is convenient parking, as there is a parking garage attached to the building that'll bring you right to the front door, and there is special pricing for large events. Overall, it's not a bad little space for a wedding or event, but the food was not as great as everyone made it out to be, and while some of their service was great, some of it was just downright miserable. read more

Wonderful from start to finish! The venue supports you through the entire process with check-in meetings to make sure you're on the same page and getting everything done in a timely manner. Lisa Gasque was our event coordinator and she was helpful, supportive, and vital to our big day being seamless! The food is delicious, from cocktail hour to dinner. The open bar allows you to customize special liquors you would like. The pastry chef is not only a wonderful baker but also creates exactly what you ask them to. I really cannot say enough great things about this venue or experience with SKY. They truly allow you to customize your wedding to how you want it, while providing invaluable insight into weddings as they have so much experience. So when I heard of the new event venue in Armory Square, Sky Armory, I wasn't all thrilled. I'm glad I was wrong. I see a real beauty and potential for events to draw into downtown rather than just East Genessee, Destiny USA or far out on Erie Blvd. I warned that my reviews would be honest. So here's honesty: SkyArmory is beautiful. It's absolutely stunning and I didn't anticipate how much so. They hosted #SMBSYR which is Syracuse's Social Media Breakfast. Although the venue isn't entirely finished, it still has some fancy eye appeal. The picture I uploaded doesn't do enough justice but tucked away near an amazing and reputable venue like Al's Whiskey Lounge right in the mix of things on Clinton Street is eccentric, chic and socially genius. Pros: The building is a silver face popping out of the walkway with tall windows. A woman greeted us at the elevator and took us to the third floor. As soon as you turn around the corner, the room is brick-faced wall with posts that remind us no matter how far from New York City we are, we love lofts. There's a side room with coat racks, a mobile bar and round tables with comfy chairs. Tall ceilings and recess lighting, their signature coffee (a partnership with the ever-loved Cafe Kubal) filled the room and all I could think was, "This is beautiful." Cons: The walls in the walkway need art. The walkway is too wide and bright to call an alley but I'm expecting the final touches to flow the sophisticated event venue out to Clinton Street. I'd book it and that says a lot. I don't know what the prices are for booking yet but in speaking with one of the event company planners, it's a conversation and not a "we're downtown so this is our rate" kind of relationship. That is a definite plus. Whatever it is, I expect it to be pricey. At this rate, you are paying for Armory Square and an experience. That should be understood. I can't imagine that wedding parties will want to do the garage parking either but that could be me. Overall: I'm excited to see how this event company overcomes objections and gets creative in this space. Sky Armory is a great new addition to downtown Syracuse. It's not open daily as a restaurant, but is used more as a venue for events. They do pop-up dinners and speciality dinners for graduation weekends and holidays though. If you're looking for a modern place to have any special event, this is the place you'd want to do it at. Most venues give you meal lists to choose from for your event. Sky asks what you'd like. As in, what do YOU want cause they will accommodate to you. I've been there numerous times, for different events (I work part time for an event company) and have had different food there every single time. The food is unique and delicious. I posted some pictures of their holiday turkey TV dinner and some fried rice. I've also had some awesome appetizers: Sky BLT, some tuna thing on a spoon, farmers table (cheeses, breads, veggies), and chicken wing spread with blue cheese mousse just to name a few. Everything is fancy-schmancy and (at least in my book) presentation counts for something. The staff is great and the chefs are friendly. I highly recommend this place. We went here for one of their themed dinners (Michael David Winery Night). We had always wanted to check out the place, see what it looked like and check out the food. This event was not super well attended, but we enjoyed the whole experience. The food really was outstanding - very impressive meals and desserts and we would absolutely go to one of these themed nights again. My tip would be to go with some friends because everyone sits together or just be open to talking with people you don't know. We met some cool, fun people! read more

This was my top choice as a wedding venue so I was ecstatic when they had our date available. Made the appointment to see the venue and book our reception and no one showed up. My fiancé and I waited in the rain for 20 minutes, calling both the coordinator and the main phone number and no one answered. Doors were locked so eventually we just walked away. Do not recommend, poor communication led us to dodge a bullet by booking our wedding elsewhere. read more

Planned to have our wedding at Sky. They were great. Allowed us to move dates once It was obvious that a mid July wedding wouldn't be feasible. We moved It to September. With the spikes nationally in Covid, again we realized It wouldn't be possible to have a wedding as we had signed up for. We no longer can postpone. Sky is unwilling to give a portion of the $5,000 deposit back. I understand that services were completed on their part ( 5 meetings and a tasting) but keeping all $5000 is crazy with the current state of the world. I was willing to accept $3,500 but that was turned down. I hope others are able to get all of their deposit back. read more

Went here for the first time in June for my friends wedding. Now I'm not much of an industrial setting type of person but this place was truly beautiful. On the second floor, views of the city, pretty lights strung up. It fit everyone comfortably and has a large enough dance floor for all guests. The service was great and their dessert selection was AMAZING. I would definitely consider getting married here someday and referring someone to check this place out as a possible venue. read more

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Sky Armory and it was fantastic. Living in Boston currently, my husband and I wanted to come back to the place where our families are and where we first met to have our wedding. After looking around for a venue that met our simple, yet unique tastes, we fell on Sky Armory. Our first few walk throughs were before it had floors or full walls, but we knew that their vision was our vision. The planning process started out a little rough, due to the length of our planning. But we were able to sit down and create our menu with Chef Jason and our bar menu with Maggie, making it an extra special day. When the day came, we had no wants. Every where I turned there was someone to help or put out a fire! For example: a few small cousins were staying with a hired sitter at the Jefferson Clinton. When their pizza was never delivered, Chef and his team threw together some pizzas and hand delivered them to the hotel, no questions asked. They are an amazing team and really make every event special. I cannot thank them enough for our special day! I would have an event there in a minute! read more

My son got married Saturday and what a embarrassment. From the beginning you could tell no one knew what they were doing. At the ceremony there was no one there to guide the bridal party after going down the aisle. The cocktail hour had hardly no food and we paid extra for it. Then after a hour & a half of no food and just drinking we moved to the reception. Then again no guidance for the bridal party. The dinner was the worst I ever had and I had to track down someone to serve the tables wine and coffee. They give this small cake for just the bride & groom, leaving none for your guest. On top of it all, the bar closed down at 9pm instead of 9:30pm like stated in the contract. I would never recommend this place to anyone unless you want to pay a lot and get nothing for it! read more

I was fortunate enough to catch the last day of dining week and what a wonderful experience we had at SKY Armory! Each course was perfectly executed: the lobster bisque was amazing with a bit of truffle oil, perfectly crisped pork bellies, steak with a beautiful reduction and on and on. The wine pairings were a very nice addition. Just my observation but the first floor meeting room looks a little bit more appealing as a niche dining space. The top floor meeting space is rather large for the number of tables that were set out; just seemed a little like a nice wedding arrangement rather than a cozy dining experience. Horrible, horrible experience. First of all they didn't have our reservations. Told us it will be 20 min which turned to an hour. Finally got seated after watching so many empty tables uncleared as management is so incompetent. Took 25 min to get an appetizer. Another 25 for a salad. Ended up spending 2 hours and 45 min for dinner. Which was mediocre at best. The one good thing about the place were the cocktails, which were overpriced. Manhattan grade prices for Syracuse. We hosted an information session for clients at this location and had roughly 40 to 50 people. We had appetizers, desserts and an open bar. While the servers were pleasant the food that we had was not only sparse and not filling it wasn't very good. The desserts were bland to the point I tried three different ones hoping to find a good one but each time stopped after the first bite. The bill was around $4500!!! I have no problem spending that amount (and we have spent more at other places on events) for great food but this was a total disappointment. Our staff and I truly felt like we were ripped off. This is not just one person's opinion but all our staff was disappointed. I guess we should've been more alert when they wanted to charge us $500 to use their AV equipment for a 10 minute presentation . A couple of our staff stayed after to speak with the owner who basically told them that we were wrong in our concerns. While the outside of the building looks cool you get better quality food at a chain restaurant. read more
