This is such a great place. My family and I arrived to play a few rounds of miniature golf, we did not realize that there were quite a few other outdoor activities to choose from. The mini golf course was fun, interactive and aesthetically pleasing. My girls really enjoyed themselves. Especially the ice cold slushies they enjoyed after the game. This was my first time at Big Dons. The staff were very friendly and the location during sunset is quite pretty. We came for mini golf it's $10/person and there are 18 holes. Some holes have a fun wheel you can spin to make each hole more interesting. For example one of our prompts was to stand on one leg for the first shot. Overall it was a pretty fast game, the holes were pretty short and there weren't too many obstacles. Not sure if we'd return, but it was fun for the one time! read more

Big Don's Wild River is an adventure! You can find Big Don's Wild River on an unassuming stretch of Route 31. In stepping onto the course, your transported from suburbia to backcountry. You'll hear the roar of a waterfall and the babble of a brook... and animal noises; lots of animal noises. Hiding in the bushes is a veritable menagerie: lions, bears, frogs, crickets, coyotes, moose, loons, and other ambiguously animal-sounding animals. The landscaping is detailed and well-kept, like a high-end amusement park: bridges take you across Big Don's many Wild Rivers, and animal statuary greet you at every turn. It's an over-the-top miniature golf wonderland. As for the mini-golfing itself, it's fun! There's never a boring hole, thanks to each featuring a variety of features (ramps, pipes, roughs, water hazards etc.). And in case the standard golfing experience doesn't keep you interested, "rule spinners" at random holes quirky rules of play. I can't speak to the other activities they have at Big Don's (rock climbing, maze, laser tag, panning for gold, etc.). If it's anything like golf, I'm sure it's quality! My husband and kids went here this past weekend for the first time. We've driven past it a few times and it always looks fun. This was our kids' first mini golf experience. I was bummed to find out Putt-Putt on Erie Blvd from my high school days had closed down. We hadn't been mini golfing since before kids and the prices might be on par with other places (I have no idea), but the prices seemed a little high. $7 for adults and $6 for kids. We have a 3 and 5 year old and this being their 1st experience, it was going to be a bit more expensive than I had thought. Luckily the 3 year old was free with an adult admission and we opted for only 1 adult to play. The decor was fun. They had a waterfall and running 'streams'. Lots of animal noises coming from the shrubs. During our game, I saw a couple employees walking around fishing out the errant golf balls. That impressed me, since most of the time you never see any workers on the course. read more

I can only speak to the mini golf here not all the other things they have but we had a great time. The course is 18 holes and pretty fun. It could use some repair but for $7.50 a person you'll have a great time. :) the theme is pretty cute too. Facilities are a little run down which is why there are not five stars. A nice little putput in Cicero. Price was okay at $7.50 per adult. It was clean and the forest theme was cute. The kids behind us were rushing and just throwing the balls not taking it any type of seriously, that's to be expected without parent supervision. Overall a fun hour outside with good company. Big Don's is a decent family fun park with mini-golf, outdoor laser tag, and some other minor diversions including a bouncy house, a constructed maze, a climbing wall, some pan-your-own-fake-gems sluice, and a dig-up-treasure pit. I can't say any of the attractions are spectacular on their own, but for a destination for a few random amusements with a decent age range from the toddling set on up, it combines up to a slightly above average good time. We of course went primarily for the mini-golf (although we did everything but the laser tag) so will linger a bit on that. It's a putt-only, with the only obstacles being rocks and a couple of minor water traps, combined with up and downs on ramps and the like. They jazz it up on several holes with spinners, where you spin prior to your first shot and the consequences are things like having to shoot behind your back or through your legs or being able to "bowl" the ball instead of shooting it, or swapping your ball position with another players, and so forth. It's almost a pity they didn't just use that schtick for every hole, since it's quite amusing, particularly with younger players, but it also slows play on a busy day. The course is compact, and the only design we remarked upon was the triple-level hole, which was basically a hole in one or a six-shot but was still fun. The "theme" is a sort of mountain stream - the water course that runs through the holes only plays a role in one hole, but there's some cute bling, like a moose standing in the water way and fish "swimming" upstream. The seams and turf are showing some signs of age, and we had a hard time finding right-sized clubs (their supply seems low). In general, the place seemed like it was a bit on the worn-out side - they hadn't bothered to sweep all last year's leaves out of the maze, stuff was grubby in general. The snack shack was a bit below par (no pun intended...OK, maybe just a little, although wouldn't "above par" be a *worse* thing? that's a strange turn of speech now that I think about it) - our slushies were basically limeades with some ice in them, and they didn't have the soft-serv ice cream working yet. The laser tag was festooned with a lot of tea party stuff, which seemed pretty weird to us. It looks like a superior (we watched for quite a while from the observation platform for the maze), albeit single-level, outdoor course that may have been converted from paintball to head-shot sensor daylight tag, that lends itself better to true team play than the every-man-for-himself laser tag layouts. Golf - $7 for adults, $6 for kids 2 and up, which makes it above average for price; the bouncy house and maze were $3 each (if you complete the maze correctly you get a small prize, worth about five cents). It added up, and if the prices had been a bit lower we might've upped it a star, but if you're going to charge full boat prices we expect things to be cleaner and fixed up a little bit. Still, a good time and recommended. read more

This place is great, I wish there were reviews on it. My friends and I only ever come for their laser tag. So when it's in season, you need to go. Their laser tag equipment is on another grade of quality. They used brushed aluminum with real red-dot sights, with the red dots that seemingly float in glass you look through. The guns are accurate without any hitches in equipment. The staff is kind, and are willing to explain and mix up the modes. We did 10 on 10, and it made for an epic fun time. I highly recommend this place, and I haven't been anywhere else to have so much fun at Syracuse. read more

folks, as soon as you can get over the fact that this place is on butt on road, you will have a grate time. they're's nothing like being greeted by a big braun bear when you walk up and the people are helpful when you cant deside between golf and finding rocks in the sand. i love the ambeeance, and i love the daycore. very homy. but the real star of big dons is the realistic laser tag. trust me folks this laser tag puts others to sham. now i cant bring my self to play any ware else. call it love. call it laser tag ptfd (post tramatic fun diss order). but you cant go rong here. after words, play some golf by the water fall. i find it especially difficult because they're playing animal noises and find it too be very distarcting but a wellcomed distracsion because im actualy a great golfer. pros: bear statue. laser tag. animal noises. cons: located on butt on road (inapproprite for kids imo) conclusoin: bring high school burn outs here to show them wat war is liek. teach them a lesson or too before they throw there life a way. read more

Big Don's has mini golf, but TONS of other great things too. The mini golf is so good, SO GOOD! Every hole is well done and the theme of the place is perfect, literally couldn't be any better! Love the sound effects of animals in the brush! Big Don himself is such a nice guy and really cares about his patrons. I go here a LOT and I wont be stopping anytime soon. The maze is pretty fun if you've never done it, try it with friends! I haven't done many of the other things like laser tag or rock climbing or whatnot, but just that they have so much to do says a lot about the place. Big Don's is an awesome place for the whole family I've been coming here since I was a kid. The new outdoor laser tag is awesome! You play tactical missions in a post apocalyptic setting. The way it's set up is a lot like paintball but the technology enables a lot of different game structures. Me and my college buddies had a blast. Will definitely come back! read more

This place is great. The best laser tag in the area and its pretty cheap. you cant beat $20 for an hour of laser tag. Its also outdoors, unlike any other laser tag I've ever been to. Excellent local business. I've only gone for the mini golf, but they have several hours worth of entertainment on the premises. My family has been in Syracuse for 2 weeks so I bought a groupon to try this place out and it was the best $16 I've spent since being in Syracuse. We golfed, climbed the rock wall, did the maze and the kids bounced in the bounce house. After that we got ice cream. Everything was clean and well kept even the restrooms. The staff was friendly, helpful and patient as we took a few minutes to decide what we wanted to do. We had a great afternoon and will definitely return. read more

My family loves this place. We go to Big Don's all the time for birthdays and when we have family in from out of town. I haven't tried the laser tag yet but my son is begging to go. He went to a friend's party there and they had a blast. When we go with my parents we like to just do the golf and have an ice cream. They are elderly so it's nice for them to have all the benches around to sit between holes. Compared to all the other places around, they have the best variety and we always can fill our night with fun activities to fit whoever comes with us. My kids especially love the gemstone panning and the coin hunt. We have a coin collection now from places all over the world and my daughter has them framed in her bedroom. This is one of our favorite summer activity. The course, while not overly challenging, is fun for all ages. There are also other activities besides miniature golf. We love the spinners and wish they had them for all the holes. When teenagers have as much fun as the younger kids, you know it's a great place to visit. read more
