I was in town visiting and needed a casual spot to get dinner with family. They suggested this spot, and their bacon Macon & cheese with the elk chili add-in immediately caught my eye! Everything sounded great but this stuff was LEGIT! They don't skimp on portions, either! Chelsea was an amazing server and she knew my family as regulars! The restaurant was overall cozy, neat, and clean, and is a great spot to also enjoy some beverages! Adding Thunder and Buttons to my list of go-tos next time when I'm in town, and though I'd love to venture more into the menu...this is just too good not to order next time! I had this place bookmarked for a while , and was finally in the neighborhood! And what a cute neighborhood? A re- gentrified and artsy downtown enclave with paid parking at $2 for two hours . Meeting my buddy here for a fun girls day lunch was a good choice ! . We felt very welcomed and not rushed which we appreciated. Appetizer of "boudin balls " was absolutely unique !4 big cheese & rice & sausage deep fried balls I'm a bed a savory dark gravy/sauce . I could only compare it to a casserole gone snack size ? Not unpleasant just unexpected. For my main I was so tempted by another "appetizer" , that after the waitrons glowing recommendation I had to go for the soy glazed grilled Brussels sprouts . They were everything promised . A bowl of ELK CHILI was the perfect accompaniment. My gal pal ordered the "most popular " fish and chips " and declared it was the best fried cod she'd found since her Alaska vacation. Absolutely wonderful place! Tried Rocky Mountain oysters for the first time and they were way better than we imagined! Fish and chips were really good and watch out for the mac & cheese with bacon! This has quickly become one of my favorite spots when in the Old Colorado City area. I have been here for drinks several times over the years and never wrote a review (Sorry friends! Hope this makes up for it a little bit) but in the last few months, we started bringing our dog here and also stopped for appetizers while walking around. Every food item we tried has been great. DELICIOUS Brussels sprouts!! We sat in the front window to accommodate a car seat, which worked well for us. Meal portions were great for the price.. I found that I've come to expect a pretty measly amount of food for a hefty price, and was NOT disappointed as usual when our plates arrived, very full and very good looking. I would love to give them a good review; however, we sat down at 5:45 and didn't see a server at all until 6:20. By that time we had already ordered a drink from the bar and continued waiting. Okay this is only a review for their karaoke!! Guys this is the best karaoke. If you're looking for somewhere where you can sing your heart out, then you need to go here. There is a stage and all. We had a great experience stumbling upon this restaurant on our way home from Manitou Springs. The food was delicious, really great burger cooked perfectly. Also the truffle fries are a must. Went to Thunder and Buttons on a Sunday around 1230 and had no problem getting seated. It is a small bar/restaurant. Our waitress was really nice. She said there were some issues with the hood so they couldn't make anything on the grill. She came back shortly after saying everything was fine. I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich with Brussel sprouts. Everything was really good! My daughter ordered the mac n cheese and she didn't care for it much. The restaurant was kid friendly- they offered a coloring sheet with crayons. I didn't have any drinks but there was a decent sized list to choose from. Parking was easy for us on the street. Cozy pub setting with an eclectic variety of foods! We came mid afternoon, so there seemed to be only one or 2 people working. They were bartending, as well as serving and cleaning tables. So service was a little bit slow but the food was worth the wait. Everything on the menu sounded pretty good, but we were here to check out the burger so that we could knowledgeably vote in the burger competition. We decided to split the classic burger, which came on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, and onion, as well as your pick of cheese - we chose pepper jack - and fries. Then, thinking this might not be enough of a meal for two, we ordered the sesame quinoa lettuce wraps to share. Both dishes came out together and looked beautiful. The lettuce wraps were so full of quinoa and filling, they could not really be eaten as lettuce wraps until you had eaten most of the toppings. The sesame dressing on them was absolutely delicious! The burger was good, very tasty, but nothing really special. The fries were excellent, however, and we almost had a fight over who got more of them lol. The total for these two dishes +2 iced teas was a little over $39. A reasonable price for a filling lunch. read more

We got to try out this place for a rehearsal dinner on a Friday night. It's an older bar and grill so it smells and looks accordingly. Some things could stand to be updated but I also acknowledge that this is part of the vibe. Bathrooms were clean and working so all good things! Onto the service...our private party of 20ish people had one server/bartender and Nina was incredible. Personable, sharp, and very accommodating even with the 6 kids that were present. She seemed unbothered by them and even offered extra cherries with Shirley Temples so she got bonus points from the kids. You could tell she was good at her job and moved around effortlessly and with ease. Food was pretty decent too. Wide selection from sandwiches, burgers, salads and pastas. For appetizers we got the nachos and calamari which were very generous on portions. The calamari in particular was the thick long strips which I've never had before at s restaurant (they're usually those small, curly pieces). They were soaked in sweet chili sauce which we enjoyed- not so much the kids. The kids all got a mixture of chicken strips or fish and chips which they all said was really good! For my dish, I got the Salmon Pasta with artichokes, spinach, and tomatoes. I asked for light sauce s d they accommodated. But this place gets one star for an "Employee wellness" surcharge snuck into the bill. This weird trend of passing on bogus surcharges to customers only pisses them off. If you, as a business owner, care so much about your employees, then pay them more! It's a shame because I would have tipped well for this meal, but I took the surcharge out of my bill by reducing the tip.
