The Hub Cap pork loin sandwich was huge!
Lynne O.

I have been coming here for many years! It is a Great place to hang out and get a bite to eat.

Wings and stuffed mushrooms.

Always a good dinner. Lots of TVs for the sports minded, and the place was filled with football fans tonight, so lots of screaming. very jovial. Had the grinder, wings, and the stuffed mushrooms are the highlight. Service is fast and friendly. There's a pool table. Haven't been upstairs since the late 80s but I'm sure it's more of the same. Great neighborhood hangout.

Nice bi-level sports bar with darts and pool. Decent bar pub menu. Decent menu of drinks and a current seasonal 12 days of Xmas, Christmas story themed drinks.

Really fun bar/restaurant with a great atmosphere and speedy, very friendly service. The food was mostly delicious with one miss. This was our first visit so we ordered a variety of items. We started with an appetizer sampler including onion rings, fried mushrooms, and fried zucchini. All three were very tasty and served piping hot with cool Ranch for dipping. My wife ordered a soup/salad combo with French Onion soup. The soup was the only thing that wasn't great. Seemed way too salty. But her salad was great. The moment we mentioned the salty soup, our server cheerfully said he'd comp the soup. I ordered a 10-piece medium hot wings. The bone-in wings were delicious and adequately spicy. Just right. Just a lot to eat for me. I'd have been happier with 5 wings, but I get that it's a shareable size. I also ordered a bowl of green chili. It was really good. Great heat. But, just wasn't exactly what I expected. I think I'm still learning about what I want in a bowl of green chili. All in all, it was a great first visit. The restaurant was clean and service was a highlight. We'll be back.

"The Hubcap" pork loin sandwich (top right), green chile (bottom left).

It had been quite awhile since I'd been to The Hatch Cover. The place hasn't changed which has its pros and cons. This is a working class type joint, complete with pool tables, electronic gaming and a juke box. Spacious enough to keep it from feeling divvy. The food prices are super fair! $5.49 for a basket of cross-cut fries and onion rings and the highlight of our meal. I'll take it. The club sandwich/green chile combo was $8.99, a steal but not great. The club was ok, the green chile just seemed like warmed up salsa not something thoughtfully made. The Hubcap Sandwich was as big as the plate it came out on. It was truly monstrous and had to be eaten with a knife and fork. It tasted good but could come with a sauce or two for dipping. We were there at lunch time and the restaurant was not adequately staffed. It seemed that one server was taking care of the entire place. This led for a simple lunch taking over an hour. Beer and happy hour pricing looked great. Overall our meal and experience was just pretty "eh".

Hubcap ($12)

This is your typical bar. I would recommend going to the 2nd floor for less of a crowd. Wings are cheap and good, Calamari is definitely not worth it because the portion is crazy small for $8.50, Chicken Alfredo is a bit too pricey for my taste, Fish Sandwich was nice and crunchy, and the Hubcap was the star of the show. The sheer size of the pork tenderloin is insane and an experience in itself. But about halfway through, the unhealthiness of the meal makes you feel kinda gross. The first few bites tasted good though lol. The waffle fries were super yummy! Given the choice, I wouldn't come back here, but it was a nice one-time experience. This was the first time in my life I couldn't finish my food. *visited 6/16/21

A local whiskey I tried on the rocks and loved it! Got to find a bottle of this for home

Your chef could teach the other fine dining establishments about good food. The linguine is the best in city. Keep it up

Rude servers. Drinks priced higher than places close to Hatch. Food menu is extensive but the food is not good.

They allow kids, as long as it's during the day. But it's more like a bar than a restaurant

But without any other tables for our server I guess it was better than not. My coworker and I ended up both ordering the ribeye and loaded potato. I had the side salad which was pretty unremarkable and not made with the best ingredients. The tomato was all but frozen and the rest wasn't high quality. Same was true of the ribeye itself. A lower quality cut of meat with gristle and it and the potato needed seasoning. My coworker was more satisfied than I was. There's lots of other interesting menu options, but not sure if it's worth a second trip.

The restaurant gave off an old-school diner feel to it and there was plenty of seating. We were the only ones there on a weekend during lunch. We started off with the fried calamari which was decent but nothing special. I also found it weird that they gave us some type of honey mustard on the side? The entrees are where things started to fall apart. The shrimp pasta had zero flavor and the shrimp tasted off. The open faced sirloin sandwich was not edible and very chewy. It was unfortunate and the meal was not finished after all was said and done.

Once mixed together, the yolk coats everything into a delicious fresh dense bowl that's deeply satisfying without feeling too heavy. The crispy calamari was a great, light, crunchy meal. The octupus pieces were thick and paired well with the sweet chili sauce. The breading wasn't distracting but rather adding to the flavor. The thai chili salmon plate was bright and fresh, with a nice balance of glaze, greens, and noodles. Overall, higher quality for lower price. We will be returning. Cocktails were just as thoughtful as the food -- vibrant, fruity, sweet, and beautifully presented. If you come here, order the Seoul Bowl. Shuga's Favorite Cafe Tray is an order that could satisfy one's entire meal but is best when shared as a starter or if you are looking for a light meal. The Mediterranean selection with the hummus and tapenade is amazing with the coconut shrimp soup being a must try with its creamy and spiciness. Though I love the almond butter cake the most to add a little dessert to the meal. The Madame of the Pletzl is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The bagel is perfectly salted and has a wonderful crunch the sandwich needs. The egg melts into the sandwich, mixing with everything it needs to. The ham is fried up to crisp it up a bit but the ham seems to be lacking flavor wise compared to everything else in the sandwich. The Cuban Mojo Sandwich also is an amazing sandwich. The pork shoulder is crisped up nicely and works so well with everything else. The winter soup was a tomato soup with some grilled cheese croutons and it is the best tomato soup I've ever had. The tomato soup isn't puréed, there are noticeable definitions in the tomatoes in the soup. The soup isn't too acidic which is the usual issue in tomato soups. The croutons really amplify this dish on to another level and I just wish there were more in my soup. I can't wait to come back here and my biggest issue will to try and order new things.

The poached shrimp was honestly a rip off for only four shrimp for $29. Should've just waited for Sunday brunch the next day, lol. Cocktails were great! The asparagus with the peppered filet mignon was very delicious, just not enough stalks. Potatoes were boring - maybe add roasted garlic? A bit too much peppercorn on the crust. Caesar salad was good, but standard. I think it would be better if the Parmesan were shavings, the croutons were crumbles, and fresh cracked pepper was offered. Pork chop was good, cabbage should've been cooked more. Love the addition of Spätzle. ~$380 including 3 alcoholic drinks. I would come back, just for lunch instead.
