I had the best experience at this Thumbs Up Diner. I've been to other locations and they were nice too however today 5/11/26, was very nice. NATHAN gave us five star service, he is a very personable young man and made us feel right at home on our first visit at this location. I ordered a delicious egg sandwich with cheese and country sausage, my granddaughter ordered French toast with a side of scrambled eggs. The French toast was huge and had a very good taste to it. Thumbs Up Diners are a special Atlanta experience. There are several across the metro area. My first experience was at their East Point location when we lived a few blocks away back in 2016. We've also been to their Douglasville location many times. So I think we can confidently say we know how to qualify this location as well. 3 things I loved about this location...1) the flavor, 2) the excellent service with that touch of southern hospitality, and 3) the cleanliness. For my money Thumbs Up has the best breakfast sandwich around. I recommend paying the $.75 up charge to get yours on a toasted bagel. The skillets here are good. The pancakes, french toast and waffles are all delicious and massive in size...one will fill you up. I'm always a sucker for their grits...cheesy or with shrimp or fish...it's a southern thing. You gotta try them. Their lunch fare is also good. The chicken sandwiches are delicious. The one drawback at this location was that, if the four of us, two of us did not get exactly what we ordered. It was close, but a little extra attention to detail can go a long way. For the sake of being completely transparent...in 2025...after tax and tip...expect to pay at least $20/pp for breakfast. Thumbs Up might not be the cheapest place around, but it will always be one of my favorites. read more

Quick breakfast after church. I wanted some fish so we went to Thumbs Up in Austell. It sits at the end of a plaza with lots of free parking. We had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table to be seated. It was packed and no seating in the small space. After we were seated, I ordered an Arnold Palmer, fried fish and grits with scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Cant really go wrong with a great breakfast. Very poor service. We waited 15 minutes, just for them to wipe off a table for us to sit down. I wish we had walked out then because it only got worse. From entrance to the time the food was served was over an hour and 15 minutes. The wait staff was very slow and apathetic. Tables around us lay cluttered with plates and trash after patrons ate and left. There was no sense of timeliness in this place. Will definitely not return. This is a 5 out of 5 from the entire family. We've been here many times and will definitely be back. It's definitely a "local" place and the food is more "comfort" and not really frilly. It's a small place and is always busy. The servers are also very nice, friendly, and otherwise do a great job taking care of you. My favorite thing here - the multigrain biscuits. I went to this restaurant for brunch. I ordered the omelette with the potatoes, onions and peppers inside along with an order of catfish. I will say that the food did taste good. However, later to be told by the waiter that the fish they served was not actually catfish it was Swai. I asked why do they advertise it as catfish if that's not what it is and there was no response. I felt deceived as I thought I was purchasing one thing but got another. Although I like the restaurant, I'm disheartened by the deceit. I really wish I could say I enjoyed this place or the food. To be honest this was my second time coming but my first time dining in. First time was a to go order that I placed in advance and still waited 15 mins after arriving for. I arrived after the breakfast rush the table were less than 1/2 full so I waited around until a waitress told me to sit anywhere. Then I waited around several minutes till I got a menu, then several more mins to be asked if I wanted a drink. 10 mins after arriving before I could ask for a cup of tea and water. The tea came 5 mins later the water after I was done eating. While they were nice the slowest service. 2 star service. The food it's chicken and waffles I didn't expect anything fancy but the waffle tasted like either the mix was sitting out and separated or it wasn't mixed enough 3 bites in I tasted mix yuck. 1 star waffle. The chicken was mid and the eggs which were scrambled tasted like egg beaters vs eggs. 1 star food. When I finally got my water after eating a square of waffle half a tender and 2 bites of egg I asked the very nice waitress for the check, cut my losses and went to dunkin for a coffee. It's your essential diner where we sat ourselves and were quickly greeted by a friendly server to get our drinks started and give us menus to review. I ended up getting the southwestern eggs, which was eggs, cheese, black beans wrapped in flour tortillas with pico and guacamole. Nailed it. Enjoyed the buckwheat waffle. Chicken fingers were ok. Now here is the best. The spuds. Many places in this area can not pull off morning potatoes. These were fantastic. I had mine with cheese, but would easily be good without. Lovely tea selection. And I asked for their house made jam. Strawberry this day. Delightful. Only loosing a star for a bit of a run down dinning area feel. Dust in the light fixtures. A side work board that needs to be retired to the back of the house. Give them a try. Service was quick in the beginning and then slowed down after initial order, however it was always quick when we would call someone over. The buckwheat pancakes were dry, the coffee was bland. As we sat, so did another party walk in and sit.. our server brought menus and asked only me for my drink she then walked to the table who sat after us and took their order, went to make their drinks at that point we decided the customer service was unacceptable. Well the noise level is next level for sure. It's a very small space and no real privacy. On my visit there were snout 40 young soccer players and they were all over the place. Watched orders all around us come out and to go orders being picked up and out the door. Finally,I inquired about our food. The waitress was actually the manager which I was not aware until I inquired about the manager. She came to us and I asked "What was taking so long?'. She said busy... "What's the problem?" The other order was a breakfast skillet. Finally, my friend and I got up and left. The place was not that busy and there was no back up waiting line. The manager was rude and very unconcerned about the service or our food. The gentleman next to us came in after us and got his food and almost finished. This is the worst service I have received from any Thumbs Up diner. They will never see my face there again. In the economy today you should be happy to service customers in a welcoming manor. Food *Waffle House's steak and eggs are better by far *French Toast wasn't too bad *I got the heap and it lacked seasoning *The biscuits were the best part Service We weren't given any silverware or refills and had to ask someone else. Our server only took our order and dropped off the check. That usually doesn't bother me for a straight forward place like this but I was missing add-ons for the skillet. I've visited both of the other Thumbs up locations and the food was always pretty consistent. This location is more like a distant play cousin of the other two locations! LOL I usually LOVE their pancakes- I ordered the Belgium waffle and chicken tenders with a side of potatoes. The tenders were hot and tasted fine but everything else tasted like it was fresh out of the freezer and had been sitting out for a while and gotten cold. My food was the worst food I've ever had from any Thumbs Up Diner. So disappointing. I didn't complain- I ate what I could and paid never to return again lol read more

We decided to hit this location in Austell for a late breakfast. There was a large crowd here which I considered to be a good sign of great food and great service. After about a twenty minute wait, we were finally seated at a table. I'm not sure how much business this restaurant has on a daily basis, but if it's as crowded everyday as it was on Sunday, then whoever owns this establishment really needs to look into expanding the size of the dining area. It felt like we were all sitting on top of each other! Our server was Candace. She was friendly and attentive, but due to the crowd, service was somewhat slow. I ordered The Skillet Heap which is roasted chunks of potatoes, grilled onions and peppers topped with cheese, and eggs. I chose my Heap to be topped with scrambled eggs and I added chopped bacon to my Heap. The Skillet Heap is served in a small cast iron skillet. My Heap was good, but it lacked flavor. It needed plenty of salt and pepper. I chose to have a multigrain biscuit with my Skillet Heap. I thought that the biscuit would not taste good because it was multigrain, but I was wrong! The biscuit was absolutely delicious! They have a drink called The Uptown which is an Arnold Palmer(sweet tea mixed with lemonade). That drink was pretty good. My husband had French Toast that he said was good. My children had Pancakes, Grits, Bacon, and Toast. They complained that the pancakes were tough around the edges and the grits lacked flavor. Even though the food was hit and miss, that would not stop me from returning. The service and ambiance is pretty good despite the small area and slow service. The restaurant was clean and very welcoming. I enjoyed the tunes on the radio . If you enjoy oldies but goodies you will too!! This was my first visit but I've heard about Thumbs Up often and it's been on my list to try so today was the day . The ordered the Ultimate Seaside!! I believe it's absolutely the best entree on the menu. You are served a bowl of shrimp and grits along with the Sassy Scramble and a huge piece of fried fish. The Sassy Scramble was my favorite, eggs scrambled with fresh salmon, cream cheese, and herbs!! This meal really hit the spot for me. The entree is also served with a biscuit or toast but I splurged a little bit and ordered the French toast!! The fried fish was very flavorful and crispy!! I can't wait to bring my family here!! We have lived in the area for over 10 years and then we decided to move 4 years ago just 10 minutes down the road from our old house. So obviously we only pass through the area when heading to Powder Springs, Hiram, or Kennesaw, so I never paid attention to what businesses came to this location since we moved away. I was looking for breakfast restaurants one day because breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day and came upon, Thumbs Up Diner. We came here on a whim and decided to try it out. My husband had the Southwestern Eggs, and I had the 'Build your own Omelette' which I got cheddar/jack cheese, ham, mushrooms, onions and a side of pork sausage and one pancake. Everything tasted good, except for the pancake. The pancake was a little thick to my liking, but I think that's a common complaint for what I read in the reviews. They claim they have a special blend, but maybe that blend needs a little tweaking to what customers like. Overall, we both enjoyed our breakfast and we will definitely come back here. One thing I'd like to add for management is to maybe add some flavored creamers for coffee for your customers. read more
