    Fruit Cup

I stopped by Thrive Juices on a work break while at Post Houston, which as always was bustling with energy, food options, and unique vendors. When I came it was no line at all, so I got my order super quick! I tried the "Born Again" juice (Pineapple, Green Apple, Green Grape, Ginger, Spirulina, Cayenne--100% raw & organic), and it was refreshing with a perfect balance of sweetness and spice. I also grabbed a fruit cup packed with raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, pineapples, blueberries, and kiwi--fresh and flavorful. I had the chance to meet the owners, who were incredibly personable and passionate about their craft. You can tell they truly care about quality ingredients and their customers' experience. The only downside? It's a bit on the pricey side, but if you're looking for a high-quality, healthy option, it's worth tapping into Thrive cause where you'll have a wonderful fresh surprise!

Yummy!!! Something healthy and fulfilling. The texture is smooth. You are able to taste every ingredient in each spoonful.

This place is located inside of Post Food Hall. Crowd and ambience varies depending on the time of the day, but nothing unusual. The Build Your Own option for the açaí bowl is a nice feature so I can customize my own combination of favorite fruits. Overall the bowl was a little underwhelming for the $18 price tag due to the attention to detail when making it. As shown in the picture, all of my plant protein was added as the first ingredient and was never mixed throughout the açaí base which was pretty disappointing and inconvenient. Besides that the flavor was great and I like the fact that raspberry was an option for fruit.

This spot is a gem in the busy POST food court. I was super impressed the coconut water was from fresh coconuts! I got the pink cloud, which was the perfect blend of sweet, creamy, and invigorating. There are a few seats there. It takes a bit longer than usual to make (dripping the fresh coco takes time), but it's well worth the wait!

Picture this, you want to thrive in life and get that essential boost. You find yourself walking around POST HTX and see a nice lit spot with the vibe perfect for a health nut. Well, strap in, because unfortunately our experience was underwhelming. Lets start with the positives. Presentation at this place is phenomenal. I bought a shot of power juice, and it was served in a syringe (cool). We ordered a coconut and it looked aesthetically beautiful, served with a small little umbrella and all. All the juices on the menu seemed colorful, and the shop definitely stands out with all the hustle and bustle you find at Post HTX. The Acai bowl we ordered had plenty of fruit, and was delicious. Lastly, the person working the shop seemed friendly, to say the least. Now, lets get back to reality and some of the downsides. Prices here are RIDICULOUS. I get it that we are in Downtown Houston, and at a buzzing spot, but good gravy, these prices are a bit much. The Acai bowl was close to 18 bucks, and the coconut was about 8. You get to the front, and everything is done through a tablet. So, although the girl working the shop solo seemed friendly, the interaction was minimal, since all orders and payment is done through a tablet. The shot of juice I ordered was good, and the presentation was neat. However, our coconut was a downer, it was not cold, served warm, and didn't have the best taste. Overall, it wasn't the best, but not the worse. I guess we can say, still they thrive.

    Cheers

Located inside POST HTX, and serving healthy goodness! The Born Again juice was my absolute favorite. The Late Night, Good Morning juice is a close second, and the avocado toast is tasty. The service was friendly and I was given great recommendations. I love a good juice fix and Thrive hit the spot. Cheers!

    Black Mamba smoothie

Shoutout to the woman making our smoothie for giving us extra smoothie near closing time on Tuesday 10/11/2022! This place has a wide variety of smoothies and juices, with an interesting smoothie called the Black Mamba which had charcoal along with other fresh fruits. We decided to get the Black Mamba to check out what it is, and it had a pretty unique flavor that is not like the regular fruity flavor. I quite enjoyed it and it tasted wayyyy better than it looked, so the drink is 5 stars already. The smoothie itself can be a bit pricey but on Tuesdays, Apple Pay is 20% discount so it was a good deal. When we asked for an empty cup to share the smoothie with my friend, the woman gave us the remaining smoothie in the blender in that empty cup, so we effectively had 1.5 cups of smoothie among us to share!

fun menu w good juice combos. refreshing & delicious @post! they have a tap screen to order on

I order an açaí bowl, with so much excitement for it. I could not stand the first bite. The açaí was too sweet, reminded me of grape flavored medicine. DO NOT RECOMMEND GETTING AÇAÍ BOWLS FROM HERE.

I wasn't sure what to expect, so I brought along a shopping bag for food. When I arrived, only me and a small family were there. Farmer Joe walked around with us and picked out fresh vegetables for us! It got to a point where my bag was completely full and I had to decline any more. I got eggplant, collards, fresh herbs, swiss chard, broccoli, flowers, and a jar of raw honey. Farmer Joe was suuuuper nice. He explained to us how the farm operates and how they give food to the food bank across the street free of charge for neighborhood families. I won't reiterate information you can find on their website, but they are a great organization! When it was time to pay (cash only), the price was unbelievable for the amount of organic food I had received. (Both me, and the family, paid $5 to $10 extra as a donation to the farm- he said we didnt have to, but we insisted.) I will probably be coming here weekly to pick up greens instead of visiting the grocery store, even if it is out of the way. Not only are you able to get farm-fresh organic food, LITERALLY picked that day, for a low price, you are also helping a farm that gives a lot back to the community. I will also be back to volunteer! TL;DR: Great organic food for cheap. Bring cash when you go, and be sure to chip in some extra cash for donation.

They seem to have a pretty diverse offering of food and even allowed us to pick out our own produce. The staff was very knowledgeable on growing and taking care of plants and was extremely friendly with any questions we had. They are pretty kid friendly as well and we found that many other parents bring their kids to hang out as well. They were pretty relaxed and laid back and just let the kids run free and roam around the property as they pleased which was really nice. The crowd that was there was pretty diverse which was pretty cool. I am not sure if this is how the pricing always works but they gave us a standard size grocery bag and told us we could fill it with whatever we wanted for $5 which I thought was an unbelievable deal. They do everything local, sustainable and organic as well. Naturally I gravitated to the kale plants as its one of my favorite greens and its does not get much better than picking it fresh off the plant. My only concerning observation was that the place seemed kind of like an utopian dream. The location is pretty unique in that is it located in one of Houston's less glamorous neighborhoods which can be totally overlooked but I noticed that very little of the people from the community seemed to be attending and participating. This is concerning since having the community backing up the establishment could be really useful for expansion. But education folks on healthy eating habits is a challenge so no pun intended. Also, as much as I love the easy going type of environment that they create, a little bit more order in the way that they do business could be very useful for them and consumers. All that aside, I highly recommend this place, especially if you live by. There is a great crowd of people to interact with, experts on growing food, kid friendly and open minded environment that is very welcoming and they also do a lot of events regularly which are mostly free to attend. Make sure to check them out and support them because there are not a lot of places like this in Houston.

They always have a sample of the Golden Bowl for anyone to taste & it's absolutely my go to dish. All the ingredients work well together in this Golden Bowl. The chicken, jollof rice, veggies, the sweet of the plantain with the spice in the curry makes for a delightfully seasoned bowl. I will admit the spice made my nose run but yet I would only describe it as a "subtle" spicy dish. One day I'll try another dish but for now. That golden bowl speaks to me everytime. I had leftovers & even the next day my taste buds got happy all over again! Never had Nigerian West African food or had it somewhere else, try it here, it's delightful!! Our party's arrival ran late, and they were still able to accommodate us. This was greatly appreciated. However I thought the music was a little too loud, because I could not hear my party across the table. We finally determined we were sitting right under a speaker. Prior to this a manager did ask if we were comfortable at our table, due to my mobility issues. If mobility impaired it's best to sit on the main level, especially if the restroom is needed. Otherwise, there are about 4-5 steps, to go through the kitchen. The kitchen is a huge process!!! I was impressed!Service was pretty good. They were knowledgeable, and got our orders correct. At times I felt our questions were answered a bit snippy, but it didn't persist. My party did feel a bit rushed by staff asking to pick up plates in the middle of our meal. This was a bit disruptive, because I would move plates to the edge if I want them removed. The food was really good. The cons for me is the 1% cutlery charge to help tip the kitchen staff, in addition to the 20% regular tip. They apparently do this to not raise menu prices. It's not a make or break thing, I've never seen it before nor was I made aware of it. It might be on the menu somewhere...idk. Additionally, valet parking is available for a fee. Most restaurants offer a birthday dessert, but this one did not. I would return to enjoy a few menu items like the queso, G & G Salad, and the oysters! These were really good. So for me, it really depends on what one wants to experience.

We made reservations several days in advance and still were only able to get patio seats. The vibe of the place is so Houston. It's a really nice restaurant - inside is small and cozy, decorated beautifully. The patio only has 2 tables but it's elegant. And it looks out at the highway, billboards, downtown, and abandoned homeless encampments. During dinner, we had a bachelorette party bus park beside us and a couple shirtless guys come up from the bayou with fishing poles. But it works - that's Houston! Food itself was good, but not great. Appreciated the crunch between the layers of tuna. - French cheese pancake - 4/5 - generally can't go wrong with bread and cheese. It's interesting, and I liked the green onions topping it. - Fried shrimp and shiso- 4/5 - didn't love the sauce this came with, but otherwise this almost tasted like a jalapeno popper with shrimp. - snapper - 3/5 - poached, and pretty bland. Came with a very fishy seaweed reduction on the side. - potatoes side - 2/5 - don't get these unless you're looking for just boiled potatoes. They're pretty flavorless.
