Cute! I really wanted to try the mini bowling (or duck bowling) which they offer here and only a couple other places. I noticed that you get a free game on your birthday when you ride the Catalina Express which was cool and kind of killed two birds with one stone. It's cute. There aren't any holes in these softball sized bowling balls and you kind of just chuck the balls down the lane at these mini sized pins which are attached with cables to the ceiling. Kind of interesting. My best explanation would be that carnival game where you hit those milk containers crossed with skee ball. I don't know... that's just what comes to mind. It was fun and different and I enjoyed it. The rest of the arcade is rather small... there are a couple other games.. but maybe I've just been spoiled with years of arcade playing?! I don't know... but the mini bowling is worth checking out! :) read more

Small arcade but was fun to take my nephew to at night just to have some fun and play games!

They took out the Pirate Shooting game... I repeat: THEY TOOK OUT THE PIRATE SHOOTING GAME for a stupid basketball game(they already had a basketball game) The shooting game was one of my favorite things about visiting the island and was the heart and soul of the arcade. A lot of the other games were broken as well but it must be hard to get repair people out there. That said, taking out the pirates was an incredibly short sighted owner decision. I came here expecting to get a great pizza based on the reviews. Instead, we got a quesadilla with cheese on top. Look at my picture to see what this joke of a pizza looks like. When I complained that this looked an appetizer, the guy at the front desk laughed at me and told me I was stuck because "we were on an island". Then another employee came out to explain that this was the way people eat pizza here and wanted to know if I wanted to speak to the owner. I told him no, that I had complained enough and would leave a review on Yelp. Ironically, my kids liked it, but we had to have dinner (again) afterwards. I believe the previous reviews are bogus and should be reviewed by Yelp. The only reason for the good rating is the nice guy working there and the mini bowling. Seriously, a lot of fun. Other than that, the games are a rip off, tickets from games a joke, and the selection isn't the greatest. But the mini bowling saved it. It's $5 per game per person. Fun place to kill a little time. I enjoyed spending a few minutes here, now that's it's re-opened. Has a fun Space Invaders shooting game. The bowling looked fun, but it was not open the day I went. My only complaint is about paying for games using the cards. It wasn't clear at all how much money was needed for each game, etc. so we had to guess how much to load on the card. Plus you have to pay a dollar to buy the card. Kinda sucks if you're only going to play for a few minutes, but I guess that's how they nickel-and-dime ya at these places. read more

There's not a ton of stuff open "late" in Catalina, but Three Palms Arcade happens to be one of them. The miniature bowling is really fun, although the pins get stuck and tangled quite often. Games are $5 a piece, which is pretty decent. They also sell a variety of beers and pizza. My only complain is everything is token based, so if you don't use up all your tokens then you're kind of stuck with them. I expect this is somewhat of a locals place, especially in the winter months, but it was a nice change of pace from the super touristy stuff. read more

My wife and I had just had breakfast and were trying to kill time prior to our ride on a glass bottom boat. What to do with this extra hour? Well, why not visit the arcade, something I haven't done in ages. We had walked past it the night before when my wife was going to get tea at the nearby Catalina Cookie & Coffee, so we figured this was as good of use of our time as any. And it was, bringing back memories of shooting hoops for tickets, Space Invaders, and Skee Ball. Did we win enough tickets to trade them for something meaningful? No, but that really wasn't the point. The good kind of nostalgia. If one wanted to supplement their experience by filling up their bellies, food and drink were available. It's WAY fun in here. We came here for my birthday and did some bowling. It was a blast! What wasn't fun, however, was getting verbally slapped by the young girl staffing the prize counter. Some of the bowling balls became stuck while we were playing and my husband walked up the lane to see if he could un-stick them. That's when the girl wandered over and said, "Do you need help?" We explained what was going on and she snotted back, "It doesn't hurt to ask." I suppose, but we didn't see anyone around. And is the attitude necessary? Anyway, I guess that explains why she was so happy when I bothered her directly the second time it happened. If it weren't for Miss Surlypants of Avalon, it would have been a five-star visit. Catalina is better for having this arcade on the island, but it could use a few more games! Mini bowling is $5/person for 10 frames and a fun way to kill some time. The shooting range is $1 for 12 shots and counts the number of hits you get. There's some driving games, DDR, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, air hockey, etc. There's one mini bball shooting game, but it would be even better if there were two so people can go head to head! read more

This place disappointed us the most on the island! The mini bowling alley wasn't working, we were gonna play a few rounds, especially since my husband was getting one round for free (for his b-day). This place is the smallest arcade we've ever been in. The selection of games isn't too great, pretty expensive. We tried to play skee ball, it wasn't too much fun. We came here to check out the mini bowling alley. I was very disappointed that they didn't honor the birthday deal advertised in both the Catalina Express magazine and on the chamber of commerce website. We bowled anyway. However, the game didn't work right Half the time I had bowling balls and no pins. We also could not share a lane like in typical bowling (my spouse played in the lane next to me). I was truly disappointed and will not be coming back next time I visit the island. read more

I highly recommend this place. Atmosphere, environment, it's quiet and not as busy as rest of Catalina. I was hesitant at first to eat the food because it's an arcade, but the pizza was really great, as well as a good selection of domestic and import beers, and also good wine if you're interested. FREE bowling on your birthday! It's not a big place, at least not compared to those in L.A. but it's still nice and quaint. First time playing duck bowling. It was odd at first because the balls don't have grip holes, but It was fun, nonetheless. My daughter and her bf liked it so much we ended up buying a few more games, which at $5/per game, is not bad. AND no need to rent bowling shoes. We did not try the food. For the birthday freebie, you just go to the order window and show them your Catalina Express Birthday Ribbon and your ID. I give it 3 stars out of 5 because, the girl at the window was not rude, nor friendly, just like whatever, sort of seemed tired or bored. (Not sure.) I'm giving 5 for this place for Food. The only place on the island that serves gluten free pizza AND they are DELICIOUS. Our favorite is chicken BBQ pizza and traditional Parmesan chicken wings :) Service is always pleasant. Chef Mike is really cool and love his simple sushi menu.
