Perfect pairing of Three Heads and then Nosh. The additional food trucks that visit are a highlight. I haven't stayed for the live music but I can't see how you'd go wrong doing so. I love good beer. I love good music. Three Heads delivers perfectly on both counts. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a fund raiser, and members of Friday in America- pretty much the "house band" - were playing an acoustic set. It's a good sized tasting room with a big bar with stools, tables and plenty of floor space for hanging out. The patio was under a foot of snow on my January visit- in warm weather that doubles the space available for consuming their beers. They have ~10 beers on tap now, and a cider if that's your thang. I decided to go lighter today- I usually have The Kind- their ultra popular IPA- or Rochestefarian- their Scotch Ale. I started with the Cascade Cream Ale- really crisp and fresh with a light hop finish. Being a fruity guy- I went with Strawbeery Fields next- not bad, but probably better in the hot weather than on a 10 degree day! I finished off with the Mandarillo Pale Ale- which I found to be excellent- not as bitter and hoppy as their IPAs but a nice prominent hoppy flavor nonetheless- thanks dudes- you got that one right! They had pizza brought in for the fund raiser- but usually there is no food - unless they bring in a food truck. A great place to hang- love the jam band tunes too! Thumbs up guys! read more

Having gone there on opening day it was packed which was to be expected. However, what the venue lacked for space at the time made up for in entertainment and of course beer. There was tons of space to park and the beer kept flowing (I'm glad I was able to grab a growler as I try to do that at every brewery I visit). The outdoor seating was great for the sunny day that it was. I'm wondering what that'll be like in the winter months though. Either way, I definitely recommend taking the moment to visit Three Heads Brewery as it'll be a main stay for a very long time. read more

Made it out to 3HB last night for the first time. I had previously avoided the grand opening--because I figured it would be too overwhelming! Loved the location. They picked--what I am imagining--is the up and coming location of Rochester for their brewery. Its just a quick drive to the Village Gate for delicious foods. There is plenty of parking and what seems to me, an abundance of outdoor space. I hope more great places like this start opening in this area! My friends and I went in for a flight and the brewtenders were knowledgeable and quick pouring our beers. I tasted the Rochestafarian Wee Heavy Ale, Freddy D Lager, Bromigo Smoked Maple Amber, and Citra Sour. All were pretty good, the the stand out being the Citra Sour. The indoor space seemed large with lots of wood tables. We sat outside and were even checked on by the brewtenders every now and then. I was not expecting this! I was thinking I would have to go back in to get another beer. It was nice that they cleared out our flights and took additional pint orders. For those looking for something to do--other than drink delicious brews--there was corn hole set up in the middle of the cement outdoor space lined with picnic tables. They also have patio which I think would be fun to hang out in summer. Beers are good. I really enjoyed Roctoberfest lager. They also carry usual bar menu. Throughout October they have live music. There have been a lot of growth in the brewery/beer hall business in the area in the last few years. They all follow a similar formula. A nice space for the beer drinkers, and a brewery in the back. So, how does Three Heads Brewing stand out from the crowd? By providing really good brews, in my opinion some of the best in the city. Also by the location with ample parking space, yet a central location. Even easier with the bike rental services nearby. I'm not overly knowledgeable in beer, but when did Pilsners become such a bad word? I'm guessing they lack certain nuances that other beers can have. When it's summer time, I like me a Pils, especially if it's during the day. Though, I would drink the NOTA Pils at night, too. Maybe since Labatt Blue was a staple for a lot of us growing up in this region, we got tired of it? The King of Beers is probably more so the culprit. Checked out this place with a group of friends and I'd recommend it as a spot if you're looking for a chill night or somewhere to go before hitting some bars. The downside was the cover, they wanted $5 per person. They ended up giving us a deal for our group when we were hesitant. Nice outdoor area with corn hole, but they closed this around 10 pm and we were forced to go inside. Overall, they had a good selection of beer and let you sample before committing to a pitcher which was nice. read more

I am not a brewery person but this place has a lot on their menu which makes that a bonus for beer lovers. I went here to see a band perform and it was definitely a fun time. I had their wines that come in a can which are 10$ which I found to be super expensive especially since their beer is only 5$. The semi dry Riesling was great but they ran out very early on in the night so that was disappointing. read more

Great place to grab a beer or 2 or 10. Great outside area with cornhole & lots of picnic tables. Inside is pretty large and very cozy. Overall it's like hanging out at a friends house on a Saturday afternoon. Their beers are good & they have quite the selection, other than what you see in the stores. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they don't have food. I know they have food trucks on weekends come by, but we were there on a Tuesday & I was starving. All they have are small bags of chips/pretzels. I know they're not a restaurant & they do what they do excellently. Maybe I was just hangry. Well, the place isn't fancy but they do have life sized Jenga. Isn't that all you need to know?! No? Ok, well they also brew and serve their own beer. And beer only so sorry wine and liquor drinkers. But if you want, you can be like the girl I saw in the bathroom who went into a stall and made her *own* alcoholic drink... And they do have three cider beers to choose from, one of which I had wasn't bad at all (I don't like beer so that's a compliment :). Just checked out Three Heads tonight for the first time for the RMSC's young professional happy hour. Not being much of a beer person, I was pleasantly surprised that I loved their sour beer! If you're a cider fan, you will too. I'm thankful to the bartender for making the suggestion. I really like the beer, especially their IPA's, but I am really disappointed with their set-up. I really want to like this place, and I've been there five times--I've walked out 3 of those times. Unfortunately, almost every time I go there is a band playing. The place is just not set up properly for music and the acoustics are terrible! Don't get me wrong: I love a good live band, but I feel like this place is trying to be something it's not. They need to focus on the beer and eliminate the bands (or at least do something about the acoustics). The two times that I stayed was only because it was nice outside and I was able to take advantage of their great patio and get away from the deafening music inside. It was frustrating, though, because I was charged a $5 cover, even though I was outside to get away from the music. I was so happy when I heard this place was opening, but sadly, after five attempts, I don't think I will be back. read more

Best brews in Rochester - these guys are the real deal and hope to see the brand expanding everywhere with the new brewery's capabilities. Plenty of outdoor patio and indoor seating, as well as a bar with an actual foot rest (what's up with bars that have no bar for your feet?!). Lots of parking available in an off-street lot. It's a large open indoor space so I could imagine it getting pretty loud/echo-y with a large crowd. 3H has a schedule of music events as well as food truck appearances to entice you - otherwise the focus is the beer, not the food (only some snacks/chips are available). All the purchase options you'd expect are in full force - pints, flights, growler fills, pitchers, and merchandise (glasses, T-shirts etc.). If you thought you liked 3H beer while they were brewing at Custom Brewcrafters, their new product will blow you away - it's significantly better: smoother and with excellent nuanced flavors. They seemed to have a bit of a staff overload when we visited, not all of the bartenders seemed quite comfortable yet. But everyone is super passionate about the place, and the brewing MVPs are sometimes around and willing to chat about the details of running the business and brewing their delicious nectar. 3H brews a pretty wide selection so you're likely to find something that will please everyone; when I visited the menu included a stout, lager, sour, 1x/2x IPAs, british ale, amber ale, all delicious. read more

My friend and I popped in to check out Three Heads and we loved it! We both got flights and enjoyed our beers. They have a pretty extensive menu for a brewery so I'd say there's something for everyone. The space inside has tons of room and outside is even more room so in the summer this place is a must. They do live music which I bet is awesome, but outside where we were there wasn't any music at all so that would've been a nice touch. Came here during the grand opening weekend. i was excited to see a new brewery open and hoping to see more in the same area. This place is pretty big and if tours are available while they brew that would be cool to see. Parking for the brewery is behind the building but there is also street and looked like a park lot across the street. Entrance is from he back parking lot into a gated "patio" with the front door. The inside is open with he bar to the left and a few table seatings and windows to view the brewing stations. For the opening weekend they had music at night (which i didn't have time to enjoy) and i hope they continue that tradition. The patio would be extra nice if there was outdoor music or at least a radio to the outside. i didn't like how it was kinda quite during conversations. Outside they had a ton of picnic tables with a couple commercial tents and a food truck, which would also be nice if they continued. They sold other drinks and bagged snacks too. When i ordered i was hoping to try a flight but that day they didn't have flights or growlers yet (no sure why) but i'm sure they will in the near future. however, we were able to sample so that was good. i hope to return here to try other craft beers. read more

Three Heads Brewing recently opened its new location on University Avenue in the Neighborhood of the Arts. The main focus of the facility is its massive brewery for regional distribution. However, there is also a tasting room on site offering beer pints, growlers and tasting flights. They also sell snacks, merchandise and feature a regular rotation of visiting food trucks and live bands. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the prices were relatively affordable. However, most of their beer options were varieties of pale ales. Known for their "The Kind" IPA, I am looking forward to a wider selection of beer styles and hope to visit again soon when they roll out newer items to their beer lineup. read more

Place is dope. Patio is rad and the beer is mint. I was a little surprised the place is so modern looking. I expected a little more hippie-esk . Not entirely sure what hippie buildings look like but that's what I expected. Zero complaints about their beer. Very consistently awesome. Mariah was the best bartender, tip her well. Hop Abomination was my favorite. Patio is huge and I'm sure they will keep improving the outdoor area. Plenty of parking around so no worries there. Food truck is parked in the lot. I've only been to this place once, but I didn't like it. There were at least two problems. A live band was playing, but the acoustics are just terrible. I felt sorry for the band. When the lead singer would try to talk to the audience between songs, his words sounded like the teacher in those old Charlie Brown cartoons (in other words, you couldn't understand a thing he was saying). And, of course, the music sounded dreadful -- through no fault of the band's. The other problem was that it was very hard to order drinks from the bar. There were so many people crowded around the bar (just sitting or standing around, drinking) that you couldn't find an empty spot where you could walk up and get the bartender's attention. I can't comment on the quality of the beer, since I didn't have any. My friends liked it, though, so I'm spotting the place one star above minimum. All in all, it was an unpleasant experience for me. read more

A group of us decided to stop in on a Saturday night after a dinner at Nosh. Nice walking distance! There was a good size crowd when we arrived, around 9ish. There was a $5.00 cover charge that I wasn't expecting but they had a band playing so understandable. I wasn't a huge fan of the band that was playing that night but, oh well. The atmosphere of the place is just ok, seems kind of empty to me. There were a few small tables but that's it. Maybe, they just set it up that way for the band? However, looking at other reviews it seems like it's better in the warmer months of the year with outside picnic tables and games. The beer is really good, which is why they get the 4 scores. You had me at 5 IPAs on tap. Three Heads had an impressive list of beers both in variety and volume. They also happened to be pretty tasty as well! The space was large and included fooseball tables, oversized jenga, pinball, and pac man. They filled growlers, however, I forgot the ones I lugged all the way from CT in my extreme excitement. Of course they had their own so no worries. I went home with a 32 of their Too Kind, a double IPA. The guys were super nice and apparently my friend's band frequents in order to provide you with a super awesome beer enjoying soundtrack to complete your experience. I would love to drop by in the summer because they had a large open area outside for relaxing in the sunshine! We will meet again soon Three Heads! read more

A great place to stop and grab a drink with some friends, but if you don't like dark beer then beware. My friends and I went here the other day to grab a quick drink and one of them was unpleasantly surprised. I however love dark beer so I was perfectly happy. We went right around when people would be getting out of work so it was pretty busy and we didn't get to sit outside, but there were plenty of tables available inside. The place has a modern vibe on the inside that doesn't really fit the plastic picnic bench decor on the patio. They might just be using these tables for now since they just opened, but I felt very unsure about how classy they were trying to make it here. It's unclear if this is a "sundress and heels" or "leggings and flip flops" type of establishment. I also felt like for such a large patio they had very little seating..again, this could be because they just opened recently. All in all it was a good time with friendly employees and good beer, I just hope they update their patio soon to make it a 5 star location! read more

We came here a lot, and multiple times a day, during the Nitrate Film Fest. The beer is great, and the people working here are fantastic.

Jeff, Dave hell everybody here are amazing from the door guy, bartenders and production crew this place is top notch from top to bottom. Some of the most friendliest people I have had the pleasure to work with. Large open clean facility not to mention the excellent patio outside and rotating food trucks make this place awesome. Meat The Press is by far my favorite that comes here. Exactly what I want after having a few kinds is to line my stomach with fantastic sandwiches. Those guys are super friendly and super passionate about what they do you can tell. Three heads keeps me hydrated and meat the Press keeps me fed and well able to have a few more IPAs lol.
