I had not had anything from Three Happiness Express since before COVID. In the past the food was served hot, fresh and delicious. Now two things have changed about the place: Shrinkflation has hit and it seems like they have made their dishes sweeter, which I can't stand. When I picked up the orders the servings were noticeably smaller, more expensive and it seemed like the veggies were put in raw right after they cooked the meat, before they bagged it up to go. Best American Chinese food in Omaha. I am so glad they are open again after having to rebuild after the kitchen fire. Expect long waits. To bypass this, if you know you are wanting dinner at a certain time, call ahead a couple of hours and ask for a specific pick up time. The portion sizes are HUGE. You get a lot of food for very reasonable prices. You will have leftovers. Every entree comes with a side of white rice as well as 1 crab Rangoon which I think is a nice added touch. Had a recommendation to try Three Happiness Express and decided to try it for lunch. Three Happiness Express has been around supposedly for more than 10 years, so says something for its' ability to maintain customer base and serve good food. Restaurant does not look like much from the outside and sits in a strip mall with a hair/nail salon and an Edward Jones Investments business. Inside is pretty standard as well. Three TVs mounted along the wall showing a variety of channels. Seems to have regular customers who are known by the staff. When you walk in, specials are written on the wall. Always check out the specials. Good selection and variety. I went with the Crunchy Honey Chicken lunch special for $7.99 with your choice of rice, soup, and either an eggroll or crab Rangoon. I also got a side of pork steamed dumplings. Portions are good. I had leftovers. Flavors are good. I especially liked the pork dumplings. Service was attentive and friendly. No rush to cash out, so if you need to go, just walk up to the counter and pay your bill there. Definitely a go to spot for Chinese when I am on that side of town. The only thing that was a little surprising/disappointing is that a soft drink costs $2.50. Thought that was somewhat excessive, but overall a very good dining experience. read more

A friend had recommended this place to us recently and we decided to try it out. Service was fast, only about a 20 minute wait. Unfortunately, you do have to call in ahead to get your order since there is no dine in option currently. We each got the chicken lomein & some egg rolls. My husband also got the egg drop soup and loved it. The amount of food you get for the price is amazing, we will be able to get two meals out of our entrees. Beware that the spicy mustard is delicious but use in small quantities, it is straight wasabi! We will definitely return when we have a craving for Chinese food. read more

Did not disappoint! Got takeout (the only option right now) ... ginger chicken with crab Rangoon appetizer. Sooooooo good! I haven't been there since before the pandemic - or the fire. They said it would be 40 minutes but at 30 minutes, they called me to let me know it was ready. Luckily I live just a short walk away! The only thing I would say is that they don't include sauces ... not a big deal but I didn't realize even the crab rangoon would not come with any. I should've asked. I think the sign at the register even said that condiments were available upon request. So that's on me. I don't know why they have so many stars. I should have known by the odd name the quality and taste might be suspect. The crab ragoons were decent and kinda creamy. Tasty, fast, and relatively inexpensive. This is a convenient take-out option for us and I really enjoyed our last meal from here. Four entrees was plenty and more enough for four people. Bill went for lunch recently and they made him a specialty soup also, which is always appreciated. So my opinion of Three Happiness is gradually improving. I admit I ordered late in the day (1 hour before closing). I ordered Hunan Shrimp dinner and seasame chicken dinner. Had to order thru yelp since their website was in total disarray,couldn't place an order. Should have quite while I was ahead. Yet I managed to place an order through yelp using doordash ( still can't figure out how that works). Whitch I will never do again! Ordered Hunan Shrimp dinner and seasame chicken dinner. We went today and were served after 3 other tables who arrived after us. The food was ok but the service and lack of remorse by the management is a real turnoff. We did not enjoy the food. I've never seen brown sauce with a red tint. The flavor was not what I was used to for broccoli beef.

What a ripoff, they charged $14.00 for beef lo mein, got home took a bite & it was sooo sweet that I couldn't eat it. I brought back the whole portion & was told since I toke a couple bites that they wouldn't replace it. Screw this place, they don't stand behind their product. Cheating Chinese restaurant!!! So good. They were busy aF tonight so it took 51 minutes to get my dinner, but it was worth the wait ! I only eat Chinese once or twice a year, when I do, it's definitely from Three Happiness. Tonight I ordered off the vegetarian menu. It was V25. Spicy Shanghai fried tofu, peas, onions & stir fry soft noodles. This dish was bursting with flavor. So good. You have got to try this place! I get the shrimp and green beans meal served with brown rice. It has soy sauce on it and feeds me for three meals! The service is always great and the employees are so sweet! If you dine in your meal will also come with soup and I love their egg drop! The gyoza is really good as well! I have been several times over the years and the food was always good, American Chinese food. I recently ordered chicken fried rice and my husband had chicken lo mein. The chicken on both orders was overcooked, dry and did not taste good. The egg drop and hot & sour soups were good, as were the crab rangoons. The egg rolls started off good, but I found a couple pieces of gristly chicken in mine which was definitely a turn off. They've always been a busy and popular place, but since reopening, they have been a lot busier than usual. We ordered last week and the wait was 90 minutes, so plan ahead if you want to eat here. Wow 3 happiness super disappointed tonight. I get its NYE but if you say its 2 hour wait an a customer respects that you guys should handle situations like this far better. My family eats at 3 happiness a couple times a week. Matter facts its the only Chinese they eat now. Good is always on point. I called 3 happiness at 5 PM an was told they close at 9 an takeout orders were at least 2 hours. I was fine with that, we had a couple things to do so the wait was okay. We proceed to leaving to run some errands. I get a call an hour later from 3 happiness that my order was done. Problem is i was going to be busy for at least another 45 minutes to an hour because that's when i was told the order would be ready. After speaking with Someone from 3 happiness we decided we'd like fresh food not something "stuck under a heat lamp" for the next hour. So i called back an explained we were comfortable spending 50.00 on old food. I was told we could not get a fresh order. So i had them cancel my order tonight. If you can't find it on this menu and they can't make it for you, I don't think it exists. Three Happiness Express offers a huge selection, and all of it is good. The worst thing about this place is having to decide which meal to order! Last time I went, I ordered the peanut butter chicken and had enough to stuff myself for lunch, and two more meals at home. You won't leave hungry or broke as all their items are very reasonable. They participate with meal delivery services, so even if you're not feeling like going out, you can get some fantastic Chinese food for dinner. They take credit cards when you dine in as well. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Omaha, I've been coming here for over 12 years and I've never found a dish I didn't like. The place is clean, well lit, with TVs on the wall for a casual dinning experience. The owners, Loc and Dao, are friendly and occasionally come out the kitchen and talk to guest. Three happiness is a great little place, great for lunch because the portions are so large you can also eat them for a second meal. I have gotten several dishes from here and they are all pretty good. The Cashew chicken is really really good and never disappoints. Good portions, not the best cashew chicken but still very tasty and you definitely get your moneys worth. Probably your typical cashew chicken. General Tso's chicken is about the same as my review for Cashew Chicken. Run of the mill Generals chicken, but good and has a little spice to it, probably the one I will get the most when I eat there. The egg drop soup is really good, same as the egg rolls, and crab rangoons. There are 4 TVs that always place Food channel stuff which is kind of a nice change up from watching the news or sports. read more

I had an appetizer in front of me not even 5 minutes after ordering. The entree followed promptly. The pork dumplings were good. The seafood soup was very good (and hot!!!). I liked this place but I won't be returning. This is the second time I've gotten sick from the food.

I wavered between 3-4* but in the end decided on 3 due to wait time, fried rice wasn't very good, and the crab rangoons they put in the to go boxes get SOGGY from steam. They need to be packaged separately. I ordered takeout- it took an hour to be ready, they were SWAMPED with orders!! It is quite a process they have fulfilling them! So order your food at least 45min before you want it! I ordered the peanut butter chicken, as raved in by Yelper's. Never had it anywhere for a comparison, but it was pretty sweet, and tasted more like peanut butter AND JELLY chicken. Perfectly crispy despite the heavy sauce! If you cut the sweetness with soy sauce, it's quite delicious! The spring rolls and egg rolls are great - was really surprised at the homemade sweet n sour sauce. I know it had to be made in house because it had a unique ginger flavor, yummy!!! The fried rice had a smoky taste I couldn't put my finger on, but it was off-putting. Won't order that again. The only other disappointment was that my fav dishes, they don't offer...boooo! No egg foo young or mushu on their menu! But regardless of those things, they pump out solid Americanized Chinese food at a great price! read more

This place is crazy good!! We have been consistently ordering the Hot Brazed Chicken since it is so fabulous. We decided to branch out and also get the Shanghai Noodles this last time and wow they were good. There was a yummy smoky flavor mixed in with the spicy kick. If you eat in your meal will come with hot and sour soup which is my favorite of all the Chinese food places I been to . I almost always end up getting Cashew Chicken and the plate comes out overflowing with food . The chicken is well seasoned and crispy . Always enough to share or bring home for leftovers . I don't usually fancy eating leftovers but this holds its flavor and doesn't get soggy . My friend gets a tofu dish and she says it's amazing ! I will define back ! read more
