For anyone who loves hiking in the Seattle area, they've likely already visited Rattlesnake Ridge. So take your visitors from out of town here and it'll be a solid time. Because it's a popular trail in North Bend, like any others in the area, get here early if hiking on the weekend. We visited on a holiday where many people had the day off, so ended up parking on the side of the road as the parking lot for this trailhead was all full in the late morning. You've been warned! Bathrooms are located at the start of the trail and is where the lake is for beautiful views and a swim. The trail itself starts through a forest and is mostly covered by the trees. At the top is where it's clear, so it's a great hike for sun coverage. But you'll still break a sweat as it inclines. It's four miles roundtrip, and there are other trails attached to it for further adventures. For those who are used to hiking, this is an easy one to do. AND, it's dog-friendly! Loved seeing all the dogs here. I recommend climbing Rattlesnake Ridge and soaking in the views at the top. You won't regret it.

It's perfect with great views. Expect the trail to be busy on weekends during the summer months. I always like to start early and end early. Would say it takes 2-3 hours round trip depending on your level of fitness (this includes some time at the top to enjoy the views, take a sip of some water or coffee, and eat a light snack). Highly recommend (wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and some snacks for the top).

Deception crags review!…read more Exit 38, aka deception crags, aka rock climbing area! There wasn't a specific page or review but there's a lot of legitimate lead climbing in this area. The climbing areas shares a parking lot with this trail head. Once you're on the rocky trail you'll see all the rock faces on the side, it's like impossible to miss. The climbing routes vary in difficulty from 5.9-5.12 and there are at least 3 areas with multiple routes in each area. The routes are fun, the rocks aren't sharp, and the standing area to belay is actually flat and not precarious. Also there are portable toilets nearby. All in all this outdoor climbing spot is a staple to seattlites.

Easy trail to Franklin Falls, which is such a beautiful sight that reminded me of Hawaii. Even on the"heat advisory" day in Washington state, it was still chill by the water. Pretty on the route to the waterfall, too, with the green foliage and washed-over rocks. Even going to the falls itself was easy, despite the slippery rocks because staggered in a way where you have somewhere to hold as you go up or down. Just a good time and not at all an overwhelming hike. Recommend to those who want a chill stroll. Took about 45 minutes to get from the parking lot to the falls, and I was not even trying to pick up my pace. Definitely come here if you tryna do something outdoorsy for even just a little bit.

This neighborhood park offers a few trails, maybe a mile out at most. There seem to be two main…read moretrails, one that goes off to the Wind Tree trail head, and another that goes down May Creek (follow signs for a Boren Bridge). Both seem pretty manageable, but the Wind Tree trail seems to be more popular for everyday neighborhood walking. The Wind Tree trail is a pretty straight path, little elevation change, some roots etc. Very walking friendly. Closer to the Wind Tree trail head, there's an informational board about the terrain and history of the area. The trail down to May Creek is more tricky, winding down to the water with some short switchbacks (a total of ~100' drop over half a mile). Towards the bottom, there are some thoughtfully placed benches to stop and enjoy the view - whether it's overlooking the forest or the burbling creek. The creek is really pretty too! The shore is gently sloped so you can get close to the water. It's a little muddier and more slippery in the fall-winter-spring, especially once all the dead leaves are on the trail and in the process of decomposing.

There is also some entry to the Tiger Mountain area. If you take the Red Town trail, then you can view parts of the old coal mine (I mean, really, "parts," like very minimal parts - but still very cool - one thing not minimal is the giant maw that signals an air shaft); and there is a lovely waterfall - particularly if you consider it's about five minutes from the road - that's pretty awesome. The trail is well maintained, and the parking lot does get full, yet we did not find it "crowded" on the trail, per se. Highly recommend.

So, this hike area is for all types of hikers: novis and advanced. Small children are ok with this hike. Lots of early morning runners too. And of course feel free to bring your furry friends We got here before 8am to find a parking spot, at 10am it was fully packed. So consider that. Oh! And also don't leave valuables in your car, sadly this area is famous for car break ins. Other than that the views are pretty!!! As we were leaving it was getting packed. The trail is really fun through the forest. Up and down traversing through a leafy green heavy fern lined trail. Loads of roots are everywhere so watch your step. The bugs weren't quite as bad as I thought but we were there fairly early. Bring bug spray though. It definitely areas that promote mosquitoes. You can go for a dip. The water is cold and refreshing. I was sure to bring water sandals. Felt so good on my feet. Worth the trek for this beautiful hike. Do it! SYOY!

Can't even begin to explain how much I love this park. Wide grassy lawns, historic open barns, a…read morestunning suspension bridge, river access, trails. It truly has everything and is completely beautiful. There is tons of parking and it usually isn't too busy. They have yurts, tent camping, and drive in camping. All gorgeous spots. There are 3-4 amazing river access spots. The river has deep spots, shallow, fast, and slow, making it perfect for any speed of swimmer to hang out. There are usually people in floaties and on paddle boards enjoying the area. The view from the suspension bridge that connects the two sections of the park is stunning. It reminds me how much beauty Washington has and gets me choked up just thinking about it. There are endless cool trails to explore, all leading to fun little adventures and scenic views. This is the perfect park to just spend a day getting lost in nature, swimming, having a picnic, or having a leisurely campout.

Or you can come with your car or truck and stay on one of the spots at the beginning. Either way you'll have quick access to the Snoqualmie River with splendid view. You can also fish and have a good time with your kids in this small beach. When you cross the bridge be mindful for other people coming the other way or behind you. There is a sign that you must have some feet in between groups. You'll get to the trail which is at your right. Watch out for bears with cubs. It is a nice trail with pepples at the beginning. Not a good idea for strollers but still can have a great time at the lawn. Easy parking near the baseball field. Good way to spend family time on a weekend.

To kick off the New Year, I decided to be active and hike one of my favorite nearby Seattle trails…read more This one has it all: not too easy nor hard (580 foot elevation gain, ~2.5 miles round trip), riverfront views, a humongous 700 year old Douglass Fir, two massive boulders you can climb up, many natural swimming pools, and three viewpoints of a gorgeous cascade. Twin Falls appears to be a single fall but you have to go up to the third upper viewpoint with a bench to see the twin. You can go further and it continues into Ollalie State Park and joins Iron Horse Trail. Go early because it's a popular hike with a medium sized parking lot at the trailhead. Just be sure to remember you WA state Discovery Pass to display on your car. The trail is near Snoqualmie Pass but doesn't have all the snow other nearby trails get causing them to close seasonally.
