I haven't gone for eyebrows or anything else, but I can't recommend NC enough...she takes her time and she is SO nice!!! It's hard to find someone you can rely on for such appointments...and feel so comfortable with. I've recommended friends to her and they are just as happy as I am. Good find! Great first experience at Thread! Made a last minute appointment for a Brazilian and they were able to accommodate me. I had Arti who was very friendly and made the experience comfortable. This was the cheapest and least painful wax that I have ever had! Not sure what it is but I think the strips they use are like frabric and they're very gentle on the skin. After waxing, Arti went back with tweezers to make sure she didn't miss anything. Can't believe the cheapest place I've ever been was also the best! Can't wait to go back! read more

I went in for a Brazilian and it was great. Everything was clean (they pour wax into a cup so you're not using dirty wax). The woman was very nice and friendly and it barely hurt at all! Plus after you get 7 treatments of any kind, you get your eyebrows done for free. Prices were very reasonable. read more

Arti is the best. I've gone to her for eyebrow ($8) and upper lip threading ($5) and brazilian waxing ($40). She is fantastic and has literally never disappointed me. WAIT FOR HER if she is unavailable. Trust me. I have tried services with the other ladies there when Arti was on vacation and it was not the same. Arti is friendly, knowlegeable, and remembers me every time I come in. I used to work about five minutes from this Thread location so I started going there purely for convenience. I came here for the first time for a Brazilian wax. My girl was Arti. I highly recommend her!! I think I was there for about ten minutes only , she's so quick and makes sure u are happy with the final outcome. Arti is meticulous, and a true artist when it comes to eyebrows. I see her every two weeks for threading, and my eyebrows have never looked better. Without her I look like Groucho Marx. Fast, painless, and very precise - she really examines how the brows will balance your face if she removes a single hair. I've been going to her for years - my sister is equally obsessed, and will only see her as well. I normally have Bindu, who is incredibly kind, professional, and makes every experience as comfortable as possible. This place is close to my work so I stopped by around lunch time. I have had my eyebrows done with Bindu few times before and the experience has always been nothing but excellent. I decided to give Brazilian wax try this time. I was nervous being my first time but Bindu made it quite comfortable and she was quite thorough. I highly recommend her. In response to the owner's blatantly false statements in response to my review, today I filed two consumer complaints with two NYC state agencies for deceptive practices. Had the owner simply NOT lied in her response, I would not have done this. LIE #1) I was never offered, nor have I received, a full refund on my services. For the owner to say this is false. I was offered a $1 refund, the amount of the tip, and then when I said I wanted a full refunded, I was offered another $1, the amount of the surcharge. Total refund was $2, not the cost of the full services. This lie is silly because I have my credit card statement to show no refund was issued. Further, do you really think I would take the time to write a review about how I was upset I did not received a full refund if I did? Makes no sense. LIE #2) The owner responds that her staff pleaded with me to take a photo of my eyebrow, showing the cut. I was never once asked to take a photo of my eyebrow. This lie is especially egregious because had I been asked to do this, I would have jumped at this chance, especially, as noted in my first review, there was clearly a cut there, and it was very frustrating that they were lying to me and acting as though it did not exist. I can't believe they just came up with this lie in their reply, and thought that I would not respond. Really? LIE #3) First, I highly doubt that the owner reviewed any video surveillance, but if she did, it would clearly show Arti not handing me back my card after I said I did not have time to wait for the manager and that I needed to leave. She was holding my card because I said I came back for a full refund, not a refund on the $2 services. When she said she did not have the authority to give me a full refund, I said I was going to simply write a Yelp review, because I did not have time to wait for the owner to arrive (especially since she said they did not know where she was or when she would arrive, and because I had already wasted 45 minutes of my life on this). Therefore, she I guess became worried about the review, so did not want to return my card, pleading with me to "wait" and not post a review. At least 3 times, I said, please give me back my card, I want to leave, eventually reaching over the counter to grab it from her hands. I am 100% confident any video surveillance would show same. (Further, if the video exists, it would also show that at no point did any staff request to take a photo of my eyebrow). I've now spent far longer on this incident than I ever wanted to. But because it was handled one, so poorly, but also, so deceptively and fraudulently, I feel the need to. Because sometimes, you need to take the time to reply to a company who is dishonest and deceptive, even when it is not about the money. It's for all the prior customers who have been treated poorly and for the future ones, with hopes that the company will change its practices in lines with consumer laws, and in line with basic fairness and truth. read more

Amazing! First of all, this place is designed so much better than your average salon. It looks like it'd be very pricey, but it's actually really inexpensive. Second, eyebrow threading is great. They do it here really well and my eyebrows always look fabulous when they're done. They even trim some of my longer eyebrow hairs with tiny scissors so they look really neat and groomed. You can also get your lip waxed too -- one stop shopping. This place should definitely be added to your beauty routine. read more

I go to this salon every two weeks to thread my eyebrows usually by Nagma, and she does a perfect job. All the employees there are so friendly and sweet. The place is spotless clean. Most of the days I am in and out in less than 10-15 minutes. I would greatly recommend it. read more

I would reccommend N.C. to anyone. she is so sweet, takes her time, and my eyebrows always look exactly how i want them. I was surprised to find such a place so far at the ass end of Manhattan, they did a great job with my eyebrows the first time I went that I decided to try a facial and the woman who did it, Sabnam....has such strong and firm yet delicate hands and she took her time and didn't rush through it. I found this place in March and love it. Go there at least once a month. Clean-friendly. Arti does a great job, remembers her customers and always does a fantastic job! Why am I giving this place 1 star? Let me explain in detail. This was my first time here so I had made a prior appointment for waxing with Bindu (yes I know THE Bindu that all of you'll rave about like she's descended from the heavens). I was extremely disappointed. I had decent amount of hair on my hands (I had gone for full hand waxing). I have been getting waxed for 17 years now so I understand what is involved, how long the hair should be and what to expect. She was quick, very very quick (to the point that was her selling point). Great. Good for you. But as a customer, when I am spending $25 on full hand waxing, let me tell you what is it I am looking for- I am paying you to get rid of all my hair. Simple. Plain and simple. I don't care about your lightning speed, I just want all my hair out. She waxed me really fast, also at times it was getting stuck (as she smeared just too much wax) and she would rip it off and I could feel the hair breaking (and mind you not from the roots). I was irritated as I could clearly see hair on my hands and I pointed it out to her and she said "Let it grow, and you can apply foundation". No, I don't want to apply foundation, the reason I am coming to you is so that my hand is hair free and I don't have to deal with all the extras on my morning rush to work. She was unwilling to remove the hair strands that were left behind (which were long mind you, I am not an idiot, I know the difference between an ingrown hair that will not come out and long strands that can come out with wax). I was annoyed , and when I got to the counter, I gave $28 in total. She made this really irritated face at me and ignored me when I paid and said thank you to her. Let me explain how tips work-a) It depends on how good of a job you have done b) How satisfied the customer is a.k.a did they get want they wanted c)it depends on a person's financial situation and how much they can spend. Also I get that they want to create the whole "zen, spa" type ambience, but lets cut to the basics- you need nice bright lighting in a waxing room to be able to do justice and see all the hair clearly that needs to be removed. The lighting was so dull and dim inside that it can be very misleading till you walk out and you can see all your hair. I asked her if she was busy and how her Friday was and she said it was pretty empty that day, so I am still unclear as to why her service was so lackluster . I can understand if it was busy and she was rushing ..but that was not the case. I just spent yesterday sitting and getting rid of all the excess hair on my hands. It took me 2.5 hours. I shouldn't have to do that..and when you wax on a Friday ? you hair shouldn't be growing back on a Thursday. These were all the hair strands that were either broken (not from the root) or patches of hair that were left behind. I love Thread, and have been coming here since they opened. Arti is as wonderful as everyone says, but the other women are usually very nice as well. Sometimes they are a bit rushed but its a busy spot - I have no problem speaking up and telling them to slow down or go back and fix something if they miss a few hairs, etc. Arti did my Brazilian wax for my wedding four years ago and it was my first time getting the full monty - she did a wonderful job, making me feel very relaxed and comfortable, and tried to keep a good pace and prep me when there was a particularly painful moment coming up. I didn't have any issues and the wax lasted the entire week of my trip. Since then I've been back many times for both waxes and eyebrow threading, always with good experiences. The spa is spotlessly clean and they always offer my antiseptic lotion for my eyebrows post threading, which helps with the redness because I have sensitive skin. read more

I've been coming here ever since I moved to FiDi about a year ago. I usually get a brazilian and an underarm wax and I have to say that Arti is literally the most painless brazilian wax I've EVER had in my entire life, and I've definitely tried a good number of spots in Manhattan and in other countries. Once, I had to travel there 4 times in one week for a wax because I kept missing her due to a super tight schedule at the time, and I wouldn't let anyone else wax me - the love runs that deep haha! The other ladies are really good too, I've had sessions with almost all of them but Arti's my go-to. She's super friendly (really everyone who works there is amazing) and she really does a good job of keeping your mind off the pain. If she moved anywhere else in the city I'd literally follow her there - I've been spoilt x) Oh and the prices here are excellent, honestly the place is simply fantastic. Go. read more
