The best eyebrow threading and brazilian in the world from NC. I've traveled the world and had my eyebrows done and gotten brazilians. After going to NC for so long, I won't let anyone touch my eyebrows or give me brazilians. NC is so caring and a perfectionist. there's not much else to ask for in someone inflicting pain. She's quick and gentle. She realizes how painful the process is and tries to decrease the pain. She takes her time to do it right, even when she has a long line waiting for her. I will follow NC anywhere she goes. If I ever move away from NYC, I hope to take NC with me. The price is right at Thread, but NC is the deal breaker. I prefer to wait for NC, even if all of the other girls are available and there is a long line. Downtown has a shorter line and is closer to my home and office. The midtown has such a long line all the time, but worth it for NC. NC is downtown on Fridays. NC is in midtown Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, Saturdays, & Sundays. read more

i went into thread because it just happened to be there, and it was time to uh.. do some landscaping. now the landscaping i'm talking about? doesn't take much skill and is relatively simple, so finding a place that does it for a great price was fantastic and i felt completely comfortable leaving it in their hands. but then i was so pleased with the results i thought... why not try the eyebrow threading? i've never gotten my eyebrows threaded before, and my last eyebrow wax was probably about 5 years ago (i'd been maintaining it on my own, mostly just tweezing the strays). the reason for that? my fear of ending up looking over-waxed and super surprised. so i really took myself by surprise when i blurted out: LETS TRY THE BROWS. it was too late to turn back and my last words? "please don't make it too thin." sammy knows what she is doing. she assured me she'd just be "cleaning it up" and went to work. now threading is by no means a painless experience. nor is it as speedy a pinch as waxing... so be warned. minutes later, she was done, and i braced myself for the worst as i sat up to look in the mirror. wait... so THATS what my eyebrows COULD look like?? it was amazing. and i was so happy i gave sammy the goofiest thumbs up sign. why i did that? i have no idea. a thumbs up? Yet another reason why I love Groupon: they had a $20 deal for a Brazilian wax plus an eyebrow threading session. I've been to some places before that charge $20 for just the threading alone, so this was a must-have for me. The location is a little confusing to find, mainly because I was unfamiliar with the Financial District, but if you worked around here or lived nearby it probably wouldn't be so bad. Both the wax and the threading were great - NC was very meticulous with the threading and was very quick but accurate with the wax (something that one can only appreciate after being waxed by people who wax slowly). The regular price of the Brazilian ($40) is quite enticing, but it's just too far away to make it my regular waxing joint. read more

I'm writing about the great experience I had with Bindu. My wax was very quick and she went above and beyond to make it as painless as possible. I used to go to European Wax Center, but no longer go there after doing sugar waxing at Thread. The wax lasts notably longer and the hair growth is significantly less. Nobody likes getting hair ripped from their vaginas. Even hearing that sounds painful but that's not the case here. It did not hurt- I'm serious. My vagina was practically singing by the time I was done here. I was seen by Artis(?) or Art(?) she took me to the back rooms and immediately got down to business. We started talking and before you know it I was as hairless as the day I was born down south. I would definitely come back here for another go. The only downside? Threading is $8 a session which isn't bad. The salon is a small whole in the wall; nothing fancy or special. They are quick to help you and to get you out of there. I would say it was a decent job for the price. My eye brows needed a cleaning but they did not trip them. I will most likely keep my eye out for another salon in the area but none the less, it was an okay experience. I like that they were quick. read more

I have OFFICIALLY found a new home for eyebrow threading and body waxing. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and taken care of right away. The salon was very clean and quite nice (decor wise). Bindu threaded my eyebrows and did them perfectly in a jiffy. She also did a Brazilian wax, which I was petrified of due to a previous bad experience, but again it was quick and very pain LESS (although I did take 2 Advil and 1 Excedrin beforehand). They offer a free eyebrow threading after your 7th visit and a coupon when you join the mailing list. My experience at Thread was great! And Bindu was amazing!! read more

Fantastic. Went for the $20 Groupon....and will be coming back to pay full price. Nagma was great -- eyebrows, clean and fast -- did a good job. The full monty wax job was excellent -- fast, very well done, and Nagma did a good job of chatting with me to distract me. Waxing down south is never a picnic but this was probably my best experience. Relatively tolerable in the pain department and she didn't make me feel awkward or make any comments about how long it had obviously been since my last grooming session. The place is clean ...and they were super nice and quick to get me in even though it was the last day to use the Groupon and the phone was ringing off the hook. I came here last night for a full leg wax ($35) and a brazilian ($45) I made an appointment (not sure if you needed one) and went right to the back- the place seemed very clean the girl who waxed me was very through and faster then usual. She did the pressure wax method which makes it hurt so much less. Rip hair out then press hard. I was a little read and bumpy last night but it has gone away. I give this place an A. read more

These ladies are awesome and super efficient! The place is extremely clean, and after work there's usually a ton of women waiting, which is a pretty good sign in my opinion. They generally have 4 or 5 ladies working during busy times, so I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to get my eyebrows done. Bindu is my personal favorite! read more

Being in dire need of some eyebrow grooming, I dropped by this place today. I can't say they did a particularly good job, but for $8 I can't complain. My left eyebrow is slightly thinner than my right brow, and the thickness turned out to be less than 1/2 of what it was when I went in (although I probably should have specified I just wanted a clean-up and not to take away the thickness). I may try this place again since the location is convenient. I'll just need to wait for the thickness to grow back and make sure to tell them not to give me that super thin / almost fake look. read more

She shaped according to my wishes. I've gone several times. I'm a regular customer now. I like threading my eyebrows because my brows maintain the shape for 3 weeks. Another plus, it's affordable. I have been going to Thread for about 2 years now. Mainly because it's close to my apt and is the cleanest place in town, for the best deal. I went the other day for an upper lip waxing, which left my skin peeled and raw. The women there said it was because I was on my period (which I was definitely not) and then blamed it on the hot weather and suggested I thread my upper lip instead. I told them that I was going to come back tomorrow with a scab, which they said wouldn't happen. But low and behold I had a huge scab where my smile lines fell on my cheek that lasted an entire weekend. I went back to Thread to show them, so they know excuses cannot be made for poor service. Extremely unprofessional and painful. I will not be going back. read more

I tried Thread for waxing because of all the reviews about Bindu. Both of my experiences with her so far have been incredible. She's quick but meticulous, and the pain is hardly noticeable when she's working on you. I can't say enough good things about her. Bindu definitely knows what she's doing. She chatted with me while she waxed and was perceptive to how I reacted to more sensitive areas. She went over my body again afterward to look for any hairs that were missed and threaded them. One HUGE detail was that she never double-dipped. Either she'd pour some wax into a cup to use on me or she used the entire wax container on me. My wax never touched anyone else's, so the cleanliness was superb. After the session, she oiled me up and wiped me down with a hot towel. As long as I'm living in NY, Bindu will be the one I go to. Another detail: The website says $115 for fully body, but that's with bikini rather than brazilian. With brazilian it comes to ~$135 if I remember correctly. However, when they say full body, they mean EVERYTHING. Even places you barely have hair, like the breasts (obviously, you can choose to opt out of this if you feel you don't need it). The price is amazing for the work that Bindu does. I can't recommend this place and Bindu highly enough. read more

I used to visit Shobha religiously for my threading and brazilian waxing services but after opting for laser hair removal, I wanted to explore more reasonable options for threading. Thread is the only other threading salon I have tried in the city and I am definitely satisfied with the location and services provided. The cleanliness and ambience is probably one of the biggest factors for me- especially because of how clean Shobha is. Although Thread may not be as "commercial" or aesthetically pleasing, it still is very clean and open. I do prefer Shobha for brazilian waxing BUT Thread is a great alternative and much more affordable. Eyebrow threading can be hit or miss- you just need to find who you are most comfortable with in terms of the type of shape and thickness you want for eyebrows. I personally like Sita and would definitely recommend her for anyone who prefers thicker brows. read more

This is a very clean place. The cleanest threading salon I've seen in awhile. The lady who helped me was quick, though a little too quick.

Very affordable and clean. Employees are very friendly and kind. I've been to more high end places that have the perks that come with charging more, but why pay twice the price for the same results? It was a little weird to be in a hair salon chair in front of the big window while I was getting my eyebrows threaded, but I quickly got over it (plus, it took all of 30 seconds for the woman to my eyebrows and they looked great). I've been here twice, both times I had a brazilian wax, and upper lip/eyebrow threading - all of which, are painful in and of itself, but tolerable. My first trip to Thread, I had Bindu, who is AMAZING. Second time around, I had a different woman, can't remember her name, but she didn't have the same friendly manner as Bindu, and the brazilian wax wasn't as thorough. I will definitely return, but will only ask for Bindu. read more
