I actually loved the fact that this place was a home town laundry mat. Thorpes is a staple. until you come across the owners daughter. I was accused of stealing A LAUNDRY MAT customer card. now if you don't know what that is, you get a card from the little vending machine and you give it money. how one could steal or want to is beyond me. I started TWO machines with MY card. I knew I had some money but not a lot. so I put money in and used MY CC to put $30 on MY card. like I said it worked for two machines and just didn't work. my card wasn't in the best shape so I get it. they gave me a new card. saying I had a balance of 7 bucks. I'm like I just put 30 on my debit card and pulled up my bank transactions to show for it. After 20 mins the "managers"father fixed it all and apologized. Which things happen, I was fine with it. Until that unprofessional and rude human was loudly talking about me to her co worker. so after I confronted her and she proceeded to call me a bitch and a trash bag and when I called her a name she ran to the owner, WHINING I CALLED HER A NAME. All I heard was Ddaaaadddd. now I get it. Her dad was very professional and gave me my money back when I asked. That girl needs to take a class on being An actual manager. Because you only got that job bc your dad owns it. So the only trash bag I saw was her. Just fold the laundry scum that's all you'll be worth! read more

My go to place when my washer or dryer act up, or I just don't feel like going up and down my stairs! The employees are hard workers, friendly, they listen to your needs and respond well. There are a good number of washers and dryers and that selection includes different sizes, for different loads. They also dry clean. There are a few vending machines, some games, and a freezer with a variety of ice cream items. There is a parking lot and it is on a bus route. Prices are reasonable! :) read more

Thorpes Laundromat exceeded my expecatations . The staff is amazing outgoing friendly and will go above and beyond to please you. first started using them when my Uncle was sick and on hospice. they would pick up the laundry and always had it back in timely fashion. I currently have them doing my aunts laundry. pick up service well worth the price! Her laundry is done impeccably! They adhere to my special request not to dry any shirts tops.There was a delicate blouse in the bag and they took extra care with it. These ladies who do the laundry are smart and intuitive to my needs. I've met some of them and they are just lovely ! They are very cordial on the phone and are on top of everything . They are huge asset to this company! To the OWNERS please treat them well. Good help is hard to find. read more

They are very trustworthy, courteous and clean. I love what they have done with my laundry which I've been sending out almost every week since I've been not feeling well. I just wanted to let everyone know I am highly recommending them. I am just a customer. I'm just so grateful that I was referred to them by other people here where I live and I'm just telling you, they will do anything you tell them to do I have my laundry picked up every week or every other week and I always get it back the next day and because of them I even fold my clothes better now that are in my closet that were there before the way they do. It's just wonderful and I'm very happy with them. I unfortunately do not have a washer and dryer so off to the laundry mat I go! Thorpes staff are very friendly and they have a card system where you put cash on a card which is so much better then carrying around a sock full of quarters. The area where all the washer and dryers are is very clean and if you do forget your detergent you can buy it there for cheaper than most other places which was surprising. I was starving and did have a few extra quarters and went over to the vending machine and was pleasantly surprised by how cheap and healthy some of the options were. There are a few tables and free wifi if you want to work while you wait. Also, in the back there are a few arcade games, a coffee machine and another television. The only reason this place does not get five stars in my book is the mildew smell in the back of the mat. It's the only place that has carpet which makes sense but it still needs a deep cleaning. read more

Best one I have been to since we moved to RI, the staff is pleasant and friendly. They have these huge washers and got a few new ones that do either 100/125 lbs. They recently started selling lottery tickets for those into that and they have vending machines, ice cream and candy. Also they do not take quarters they have a machine that allows you to put money on a card. They also have games for kids if you do not mind you kids playing with the toys and free wifi. read more

I was on vacation around this area and, on a whim, chose Thorpes as the place I wanted to do my laundry since loads of hotels don't have laundry facilities. I came here twice and was content enough with the appliances - there's such a large variety that I didn't really know where to start. I haven't had to do coin laundry since I was in college (I realize now that the top loaders at my university were half the price of the front load washers I used at Thorpes, but that didn't put me off enough to retreat because I'm aware prices change and can largely vary between locations - plus I had the option to use cheaper top load washers, but have come to think that front load washers do a better job) and I was really impressed with the little card that you can put money on so you don't have to carry around pounds and pounds of quarters with you. The first employee that I encountered was more intent on eating her lunch and talking to her friend instead of helping me (I thought I was doing a good 'clueless doe-eyed stranger who required assistance while wandering around' impression, but she wasn't paying me any attention), but I figured out how to get things going after she begrudgingly told me where the laundry card machine was and eventually met me at the counter so I could buy some Tide pods (since they sell detergent if you didn't manage to bring your own). But the set up inside was nice; I was so grateful for the fan on my first visit because it was a steamy day so I plopped down and cooled off while watching tv. The second time I went, a different employee rang me up for the Tide pods and charged me 1c less for each one... so who knows if one pod is 50c or 49c, haha. He was quiet, but nice, and didn't ask any unnecessary questions when he saw that I knew where I was going with my card and heap of laundry. I had these memories of going to laundromats as a preteen and kid and always noticing shady characters lurking around, but there was none of that at Thorpes and I'm happy that my eyes have been opened so I don't always see laundromats as dangerous places. It's like a large maze of machines and if you see anyone you don't want to walk near, you have so many options of other directions to take. read more

I just gotta say, best laundermat ever! Staff is super nice, plus it's always clean. When I moved here from California and my stuff hadn't gotten here yet it was nice to chill on the couch and enjoy the tv and wifi. read more

Liked this place a lot until I noticed a few articles of clothing missing. Went in to ask if they had a lost and found, which I was told they did not. Few months later was doing laundry when I saw one of the girls working there sitting outside, smoking a cigarette, WEARING THE SWEATSHIRT I WAS MISSING. The sweatshirt is from where I work and is no longer sold in that style so I know it's mine. Was so disgusted that I didn't even say anything but have no plans to return. read more
