Manufacturers must test their plastic wraps so that they adhere to FDA regulations and only then can the products carry a "microwave safe" label. It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Their donuts are clouds you eat. So soft. So airy. So delicious. I've been in here a couple times (and there will be many more to come). There has been a line both times, but it moves pretty quickly. You never really know what donuts they'll have, so don't have your heart set on anything, but be prepared to love whatever you get. They do continuously bring more donuts out every morning, but eventually, they may sell out for the day. I recommend going early or checking their Facebook, as they post updates frequently on there. Their staff is super friendly in person and on Facebook. Note: this King Donuts is not affiliated with any of the others with the same name in town. Thank you, King Donuts! You're awesome.

The reason for my rating this particular time is because the last few times I've been to the Fern Creek location the staff is incredibly rude. Which is odd since other locations don't act that way. They come from the back and don't say anything, just stare at you until you start talking. As if they don't want to be there. It's never a welcome to Jeff's or hello, how can I help you? After payment isn't much better either. Not sure what's going on there. But anyway, it probably won't matter but I won't return to that location again. But dammit, it's (mostly) local produce, it's very good baked goods, and it's convenient to downtown. In a city that doesn't have the big-boy pants to support a real grocery store in the downtown area, it's especially a godsend. And I love the fact that they've committed to this satellite location to complement the bigger River Road store. When a place like this opens up on Main Street, my first thought is whether the city is good enough to support such a place. I can only guess that there are also some downtown residents who really benefit from it being here too. Me, I'm here for the crusty loaves. Much as I love Wiltshire and Blue Dog, the Haymarket sourdough is the top draft pick. But it's also a good place to pick up other treats -- select produce, flowers, prepared foods, local meats, and a good assortment of frou-frou whatnots. Always good service. The turkey was nice, thick and juicy, but it was stuffed into the bread in a way that reminds me of a Wawa sandwich. And there was a brie cheese on it that I'm sure could be delicious, but it was so overheated that it melted into the bread and I didn't really get that lovely flavor. That being said, as soon as you walk into the store, there's a nice fresh ambience that makes it lovely. It's definitely a great place to look around and get some specialty food items.
