Beth was amazingly patient as she walked me through setting up auto payments (more than once). She was so pleasant and deserves a raise!

The living area and rest area are perfectly separated. It also fits for two people or a couple. Though there is something wrong with the draining system and microwave, the maintenance people arrived and fixed everything within 1 hour after I reported the issue to the office. (draining system was fixed one day after reporting since that was during weekend). The most important reason I chose there is that it is really close to JHU north gate (less than 1 min walk)! The only disadvantage is that the bedroom locates at the south-east corner of the building, which couldn't gather heat very well. You have to increase the heating system temperature a bit in winter to keep warm. I had terminated it early due to travel issue and it is really a pity that I couldn't live there any more!!!

What I absolutely cannot tolerate is the smoke coming through the bathroom vent intermittently, while management has never taken the issue seriously. Even maintenance staff could smell it, yet no real investigation was ever done to address the problem. I complained to the front desk, leasing office, assistant manager, and community manager many, many times--both in person and in writing--and never received any meaningful response. I also requested a transfer to another unit, but that was completely ignored. I am angry, frustrated, and deeply disappointed to have to write this review. We have a baby, and we will not raise her in an environment filled with smoke. Management clearly does not care about or respect its residents.

If you ignore this warning, you'll regret it. -- Trek management is a nightmare. After they took over, they pretended to have "no records" of residents. This gave them free rein to raise your rent, make up random charges, and manipulate people however they want. -- No communication whatsoever. They NEVER respond to emails or phone calls, no matter how urgent. -- They will ignore your disputes. No matter how polite or reasonable you are, they won't listen. Instead, they'll send your "balance" straight to a collection agency. That's their only response. -- Say goodbye to your deposit. You won't get it back. Not me, not my friend (who's been waiting for a year). Their excuse is always the same: "We have no record of your deposit." It's a scam. -- Apartments are trash. Old, smelly, damaged walls, bad paint. The worst part? They'll charge YOU for all of it when you move out--even if you have video proof. -- Final warning: The rent may look cheap at first glance. But after losing your deposit and being hit with fake "damage fees," it ends up being far more expensive--plus the nightmare of dealing with collections. RUN!!! Everybody, RUN!!!

Review for The Social (Apartment Complex):…read more I've lived here for quite some time and want to leave an honest review. There are some upsides -- the units are fairly spacious and the amenities are decent. But the ongoing issues with maintenance, communication, and basic livability have been deeply frustrating. The most serious and recent problem is my front door lock, which completely stopped working after a battery replacement in April. Maintenance installed a manual lock as a temporary solution, but my door became unstable. In May, they added a metal plate -- now it often gets jammed shut, and sometimes I can't open it at all. It has taken me over 20 minutes just to get out of my apartment. I've submitted multiple work orders and was told the replacement of the electronic lock would be expedited. It's been three months and nothing has changed. Tonight, I called the after-hours maintenance line because the door was stuck again. The call operator was helpful and tried to contact emergency maintenance, but no one picked up. He could only leave voicemails. I'm hoping someone will follow up, but this whole situation is exhausting and unreliable. (*UPDATE* The maintenance crew came the next day and told me the company doesn't produce the electronic lock anymore but no one had told me this information for the past three month. The last update I got in June was they would expedite getting a new electronic lock. I feel I have been lied to this whole time.) This is just one of many issues: * No night/weekend security. One day, the management ended their contract with the third-party security company -- without notifying residents. * Laundry system was replaced with no warning. Our old cards stopped working overnight, and the refund process is still unresolved for me after 6+ months. * Frequent hot water and HVAC outages. In the winter, I went weeks without heat or hot water. * Ongoing pest problems -- roaches, mice, fruit flies. Even keeping your unit spotless doesn't guarantee they won't appear. I'm attaching a video showing how long it can take just to open my door -- three months in, and still no fix. I don't think that should be normal.

This is a lengthy review, so i will put the highlights at the top for anyone who doesn't want to…read moreread the full review: Updated review 9/4/2023: previously 1/5, updated stars to 3/5. After talking with facility management and discussing grievances, they went above and beyond to make our last 2 months a positive one. many of the same issues described below are still present. If there are issues, don't hesitate to go straight to management. Do not wait. Seems that individual staff may drop the ball but management will right them if made aware. Given that this was our first (and likely only) rental with Morgan properties, the building is older and the previous owners didn't maintain it well. Recently under new management there are a lot of issues with the building itself. We still wouldn't rent from Morgan Properties again, given the condition and price of the apartments. There are better options in the same 5 miles radius for a cheaper price tag. We rented an apartment here from August 2021-july 2023. We lived in a 2 bed room apartment with three people. Positives: great view of the area if you are high up. walkable location that's close to Johns Hopkins campus. Plenty of food locations to eat around as well. Fast responding maintenance. They have floor plans that accommodate the "Sibling suite", with separate bedrooms on opposite sides of the apartment. Management is awesome. Everything else: We moved to an apartment complex that is much larger, much cheaper, and 5 minutes away from the Carlyle. Moving in was a nightmare because the elevators were broken. We lived on the 14th floor. You can reserve the elevators but that doesn't matter if all three of them are broken. While we lived here, the elevators were broken at the more times than I can count. There were full weeks that two of the three elevators did not function before they received maintenance. Usually maintenance could only get them running for a few days, sometimes hours at a time, before they would be broken again. Water leaks happened every year we lived there. The building is set us so that everyone above and below you are on a shared water line. If someone on the 16th floor has a water leak, it will affect everyone all the way down to the 1st floor/basement levels. The garage is small and cramped. I have a two door compact vehicle and i have still had trouble parking in the parking spots with being wedged between a pillar and another vehicle next to me. Parking is also expensive. We pay 135$ per vehicle on top of rent. They have also increased our rent by huge sums each year, ~10%-18% (200$) each time. In comparison, our new apartment provides parking in a brand new gated garage for no additional charge. The supposed securely locked garage that can "only" be accessed using a card key has been broken since September of 2022. Shortly after we moved out the garage was fixed. Too bad we never got to use it for than a few times. Communication about delays on this were spotty, and frustrating at times. When expecting they would be fixed sometimes it would be delayed and no communication was sent out. It took over a year to be fixed. The dish washer in our apartment also floods the kitchen every time we run it. We put in 5 work orders. We were told that we were getting a new dishwasher which never happened before we moved out. Management told us that maintenance never processed the request. The Front deck staff also seem to gaslight me every time i speak with them, saying "it's not too bad", or " you should be thankful you have x" when i bring a concern to them. It's very frustrating but they always have an excuse on why they are not holding up their end of the bargain. There is one good thing i will say about this place: maintenance is VERY fast to respond. They may not resolve your issue, but if you put in a work order, they will be there within hours. I encourage everyone living here to communication directly with facility management. Do not get information from the front support staff person or by calling their number (you may be rerouted to a call center). Management seems to be the only people who are able to answer and make calls for the their building, and are both approachable if made aware of things. We wish we would have known this prior to all of our issues and regret not going to them sooner.

Although other apartments might claim to be close to things, like 1 mile, 1 mile is still a 20 minute walk or 40 minutes round trip. You don't have to worry about any of that here! Within 0.3 miles (6 minutes), you have JHU campus, JHU shuttle, Barnes, Starbucks, Chipotle, Potbelly, etc. This place is great for the sleep and go type of tenant. You can come home to eat, drop off stuff, etc. multiple times a day. I also like that I can run downstairs and workout at night, or if I'm sexiled, I can chill in the social room. Now here are the things that suck: 1. In order to use the laundry room, you have to buy a $5 card. Why can't we just use quarters? 2. The bathrooms have no exhaust fan. Humid bathroom plus entirely carpeted apartment=microbiological nightmare. 3. Also, the bathrooms have no shelving, and under the sink, there is no cabinet! 4. The toilet paper dispenser is right next to the faucet of the bathtub! What kind of interior design is that? 5. The bathroom is also super small. 6. Why is there carpeting right at the entrance of each apartment? Carpet doesn't go with wet slushy boots. 7. The closets are really really small and only slide open halfway. They should slide all the way into the wall! 8. The kitchen is so cramped! If someone else is in the kitchen, I basically have to be sexual with them to get something. 9. Not wheelchair friendly!! There is no ramp at the entrance and then there are three steps to go up to get to the elevator. Big hassle when you are trying to move furniture!! 10. I wish there was recycling! I dropped off a bunch of plastic bottles on campus today but I can't do that long-term. 11. We've been informed that July 1st, there will be no water from 9 am to 5 pm!! That is a long time for America!! Really inconvenient. Now I have to hope my roommates don't forget and leave morning deposits at 8:59 am *mask on face emoji* While the location is probably one of the best for anyone affiliated with JHU, it seems that since the demand is so high, the property does not have any incentive to improve the place. A 2 bedroom apartment here starts at $1440, and considering how much it costs, I would expect the apartments to have better design and amenities. If you just want to go to work/school conveniently, and don't care about a nice bathroom, kitchen, closet, etc., it may be a good choice.

Bugs, bugs, BUGS! Instead of trash chutes the building relies on trash rooms which are not emptied or cleaned often enough resulting in horrible cockroach infestations throughout the building. The elevators are small and out of servcie often. Packages are not protected. Food deliveries are dropped off and can be left for days untouched. The cable wiring is so bad that a cable modem is barely operable and streaming services have to operate in the lowest resolution and even then buffering occurs regularly. Paying rent for this is disgusting.
