Do not come here for your automotive work. I took my car here to change all my brakes. They charged $200. I took it back, the car makes noise. I called them. They said it is because my rotors are bad. Why didn't they tell me until I took it back. They offered to change them for me with extra costs. I brought the rotors too have them change it. I still make noise after I replaced my rotors. They said to drive it for 1wk. The noise will go away. After 2 was, the noise is still there. I took it back to them and asked them to take a look. They refused. They said maybe I brought some cheap aftermarket brake pads. I told them I went to Lexus dealership to buy the pads and the rotors, all factory parts. They said, "yeah, Lexus brakes and pads are known to make noise, it is safe to drive if you don't mind the noise". They said I should buy different brand brake from them. There's nothing they can do for me. They didn't even take a look at the problem, brushed me off. I call Lexus after the noise. Lexus said noise is because no shims were installed. I brought the shims and took it to another mechanic shop to install. The mechanic told me. The first mechanic that helped me installed before to put the old shims back, that's why it makes the noise. After I installed the shims, no more noise. 700 Thong shop has bad customer service. They only want to make money from customers. Do not go here. Tell all your friends so they don't get scammed. read more

Pretty disappointed in the customer service I encountered today. I used to go here regularly when I lived locally, but I was in dire need of an oil change when I was visiting. I remember the owner being pretty friendly. However, Lee today was pretty short and dismissive. I asked him if he could check on another issue in addition to oil change and he just waved me off. I'm not asking for big smiles and all that. Just don't make a paying customer feel like a huge inconvenience for being a patron of your business. I would have just taken my keys back and went somewhere else, but I was on a really tight schedule. Now I'm worried if they're even going to use the right oil or check on the other issue. read more

Remember Tune ups aren't just new spark plugs and close the hood and see you later. Real Tune Ups are Full Vehicle Computer Diagnostic,Throttle body cleaning & inspection ,6 new ac delco platinum spark-plugs , new Spark plugs wires if needed, electric / coil & fuse check & engine timing !!!! He never once tried to sell me something we didn't need which I appreciated. Long offers great service, I've got a beat up 2003 Honda Civic that he's fixed multiple times for minor and major issues. I've had the car for a while so some of the parts are bound to go out here and there and Long always charges the cheapest prices. He's replaced my engine for a blown head gasket back in April 2019 and the car hasn't overheated since, so I aint planning to change mechanics anytime soon!!! read more

Will definitely not be heading back here - be warned. I took my car in here to have a gasket changed in my oil filter housing. 2 problems were apparent right when I drove it off the lot: 1, oil was still dripping from my oil filter housing, and 2, something was not right with my alternator. The gasket was not installed properly, as it seems like they did not do a proper cleaning job between within the oil filter housing. I went back and did this by myself. More seriously, my car's electricity was cut off on the way home, a problem that was not even close to becoming apparent before bringing it into the shop, and happened on the way home. I suspect there was some mishandling of my alternator or with the two connections behind it. I was simply told that "alternators break," but I'm more than sure that the issue occurred at this shop. No remedy has been offered. Be wary of this place - they offer cheaper prices for a reason. read more

These guys do good work at a cheaper price than most. I believe they discount their labor a little bit which makes them so affordable. They get very busy and communication is often difficult but I would trust them with most major jobs. I did a timing belt here for a v6 and they charged me 600 with everything. They said it would take a day and they were doing pretty well after checking on them throughout the day since I live close. read more

My family lives in Orange County and we make the drive all the way up here ~40 mins for big car repair problems (so I think that says a lot!). Right off the bat you can tell apart this repair shop to be a genuine local business because of the friendly staff and their 'no bs' communication about what job you need to be done, what it'll cost you, and when's the soonest you can get your car back. Staff speaks English and Vietnamese from what I know and is clear with estimates (no high balling or any sense of being jipped because we've gotten quotes from neighboring shops as far as Rosemead for as much as $300 more than what this place asks for). Have had quite a few experiences taken care by them and each one was speedy, honest, and reliable. Super efficient in getting customers in and out since we've always been helped upon arrival and on our way quickly after the inspection of damage and billing info. This includes an entire front mechanical repair for a nearly totaled car, a full replacement of a damaged engine starter, and most recently a replacement of a damaged rack and pinion. All repairs were done is an honestly impressive timely manner and our cars are ready to go after pick up with no hiccups. A trustworthy business among the many competitors that will often take advantage of people's lack of knowledge about cars, not to mention girls like me that are assumed as easy bait for overestimates! read more

I brought my Lexus 04 l is300 to a shop down the street because of a major oil leak they estimate me for rebuilt engine and water pump and timing belt. I am looking at $2600 I was planning to have them work on it at the end of the month when I get paid, then a friend on Facebook told me to bring it by Thong to get a second opinion and Long was so helpful and told me that I need new timing belt and timing belt seal, water pump is still look pretty okay but is up to me if I want to replace and engine running fine there was no leak there just oil spay from timing belt make it look like us leaking out from the engine. I told him do what ever is necessary as long as it does not cost me an arm and a leg. $570 later my car run great only I did so far is oil Change since then. Great friendly fast, honest service but most importantly very affordable. We should definitely support this kind local own business. A place I felt I am not getting rip off Mgr Long even refuse to charge me for pumping my tires fill water for my windshield wiper and even give me some coolant. Definitely come back. read more

Brought my 2013 BRZ into the shop for What the dealer said was an ECU issue, which they said required replacement. The technician at Thong Automotive immediately answered my call, told me he could handle my car, and took it in with no wait. He quickly started digging at the problem, and did not require a inspection / diagnostics fee upfront. Will be updating this as I learn more about the issue and will update to give details on the resolution experience. *****Update 6/22/17****** So far so good. Called them and they told me the car looks like it's been fixed, but they will be doing testing. If this really fixes my issues - then it would save me thousands of dollars compared to the suggested diagnosis the dealer suggested. Both of the dealer's suggestions would have cost me two thousand in total, then another fix for the timing belt which Thong Auto suggested to repair. One thing to notice with this shop - it's a small shop so I never expected to have intensive customer reach out. I wouldn't expect proactive updates along the way - but if you give them a call and ask about your car they're glad to give updates. With my car's complex repair, I don't fault them for a week long job as timing belts are very involved. ********Update 7/6/17****** I have to take away one star for lack of communication. They also moved forward with ordering parts before they contacted me about their diagnosis. I understand this may be a difficult repair but I didn't hear from them for more than a week and when I called back they treated me like I was bothering them constantly for it. I visited a few automobile repair shops and then I read about Thongs Automotive. I got my Toyota Corolla engine seals and timing chain here. These guys are really good at their job. They did an excellent job and also did it quick. The guys do not over charge. The best part is that they give you the right diagnosis for your car problem and charge you appropriately and not like other automobile stores where they take you for a ride. These guys are super helpful and honest. I recommend my friends too. I went in prior to the dealership. I requested a quote from the Honda dealership for brakes, rotors, tires, ac filter, and anything that was needed Immediate attention. $712 bucks for my 08' Accord. I asked how bad were they needed and was pushed that I take care of all of it. I unfortunately threw down 500 bucks for my rear brakes. Being in disbelief and poor for the rest of the parts, I looked towards another place. So I stopped by this place and was grateful for their honest business. Turns out, my AC filter was fine and still as new and had a guy there even show it to me. Tires came at a good price for two after realizing it was going flat due to a deep cut. If I gotten my brakes here it would have been 200 cheaper. Shame on me. Wish there were more honest, no places such as this auto shop. Another lessoned learn is not going to dealerships for typical repairs as I realized I'm paying a whole lot more out of a big corporate company. I replacement brake last month, now my brake have a sound grinding, I come 3 days from monday, Tuesday, Wednesday they wont fix it always asking me to wait after 2 hours still not fix it my car!! Not even touch it just park my car..he say busy and busy. every customer come he can taking care..Horrible work shop. When replacement brake they never service rotor just replacement brake pad easy job, easy money mickey mouse job!!!so i come to another work shop he fix it just 20 mnts no more sound! Very smooth. Long is a great young man that study hard to get his ASE certified. He has so much knowledge in this automotive field. He has great work ethic. His price is cheap compared to other shop around him and he warranty his work more than anyone I know. He's genuine, honest and respectful. People that complained about him are the people that are cheap and don't take his recommendations and always buy they own part on eBay and asked him to fix. The part are cheap for a reason. His work on my car always genuine. We have about 20 cars service with him and none come back. I recommend Long to anyone that I know. read more

I have had an electrical problem that unfortunately went on for years. I took it to a garage over and over. I went to a specialist. It was fine for awhile. Then after 3 batteries dying I went to The Toyota dealer to see what they might say. First they said 130 for diagnostic, and then if they have to look further 390. I told them to give me my car back. I took a chance and went to Thong's he quoted me 400 for parts and labor and said, if he can't fix it he would refund my money and would not charge more. It took 2 days and he found my computer was causing power surges and he also put an alternator in. He was true to his word. He only charged 400- I feel guilty because he gave me the alternator for free. He said if he does not do what he says people will not refer him to their family and friends. I am amazed at his efficiency and his work ethic. Go here and see. Nice to not have to worry about being taken advantage of and worry that my car is not really fixed. read more
