Wow, with these reviews you'd think this was a last-resort type of option. In reality, Martz is…read moreScranton's lifeline to New York City. Since I moved to NYC, I've been taking the Martz bus to visit my family in Scranton pretty regularly. Let's say 6 round trips per year. I have never had any type of issue. I don't think the bus has ever been even ONE MINUTE late leaving Scranton or leaving PABT. While you do get a nice mix of working professionals from the stops in the Poconos, your stereotypes about *who* is taking the bus if not traveling for work are going to be pretty accurate. Is it painful to pay $133.99 to have to sit next to someone who spends the whole trip eating and talking on their phone? Yes. Have I witnessed people drink personal alcohol on the bus? Yes. Did I once witness a man--while on the moving bus--call Martz customer service (rather than speaking to the driver) to ask for the bus to be stopped due to cosmetic damage on the bus's exterior? Yes. Still, these people are greatly outnumbered by respectful commuters. It's not perfect, the price is way higher than you'd expect, but it gets the job done. The peace of mind and quality time with my family has been priceless.

The person who works at the Scranton terminal was really helpful. That being said, the company…read moresucks. You can call customer service but nobody will answer (even when you are second in line) or call you back. The online reservation system is confusing. It's actually one area where Greyhound is pretty good. I had no idea if my bus was late or not, and to switch to different bus is impossible online. It seems all geared to make you call the customer service number that nobody will answer

They are open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Must be nice. Not only are the hours not so friendly, the parking is atrocious. Unless you're lucky enough to find street parking, you'll either have to risk parking in the hotel parking lot across the street and getting towed, or hope that the four or five spaces around the corner aren't taken and that your vehicle has a very small clearance and you can fit under the awning that juts out. Annoyed as I was, we are staying in the area a few days, so I made sure to return this morning. When I arrived, there was no staff and I looked through the information available myself and found what I wanted. They did have a few cute signs inside, but the center itself is incredibly small. As I was leaving, a staff member did come in and sit at the desk, so I asked them if there was a restroom nearby because the entire visitor center is about the size of my bedroom, and I figured if they had a bathroom I would have seen it. She told me to go outside past the guard and make a left. As I walked out and tried to proceed to the restroom, the security guard told me he would have to search me before I could go back. You'll need to remove all of your items from your person and be wanded and "cleared" before you can use the restroom here. If you think that's uncomfortable, wait until you get into the restroom itself. It was dirty and gross and when I locked the door behind me I saw that there was a secondary door just across from it. That door had a key to lock so I have no idea if that was somebody's office and they might walk in from that direction or if that was a storage closet... Fun right? Then I tried to get some hand sanitizer on my way out, but of course that was empty. Overall I would say this is a very poor excuse for a visitor center. I don't care how historic the building is, the point of a visitor center is to make people feel welcome and want to spend time and money in your city. This is one of the only visitor centers I have been to where I haven't received a warm welcome or help from the staff. They need to do some serious improving.
