CONTINUED FROM PRIOR POST in reply to their comment on my post. First, they told me I am not the customer and that my builder is. However, my builder never signed off on accepting the slabs. No, they called me to sign off on the slabs. They showed me one slab and said they are exactly the same. I'm not the professional; they are. What do I know about quartzite? He had me sign off on a design form. The design looked exactly like the pictures he showed me from the distributor. Then they added my builder's name right next to mine. The form says nothing about damage. Second, the ONLY option Thompson provided us to resolve the problem was for us to PAY THEM MORE MONEY!!! We would have to pay to remove it, cut it into pieces for our outdoor kitchen, and refabricate them. AND THEN, PAY FULL PRICE for a new slab, plus PAY FOR delivery and fabrication. WHERE ARE WE BEING COMPENSATED FOR DAMAGES AND INCONVENIENCE?? We would then have paid upwards of $30,000+ for countertops. ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR MINDS? For my aggravation and since I'm forced to live with damaged goods, I proposed that they should reimburse us HALF the cost of the ONE slab, and I would remove my truthful (negative) posts, and they would never hear from me again. Please note: Since they do not have a signature from the "CUSTOMER", a.k.a. my builder, they have no leg to stand on in court. read more

@William Thompson - Your response is very sweet and innocent. Not at all like your phone conversations. You said, Get a lawyer and hung up. You made an appointment with us to see the workmanship installed and NEVER SHOWED UP! You sent a worker who had no authority to make decisions. Natural fissures do not extend all the way through the slab to the bottom. You are a liar. The resolution you offered was to BUY another slab and cut the damaged one to use for our outdoor kitchen, when you know damn well that you cannot use quartzite outdoors. Would we spend more money at an unethical, unreliable, and money-scamming business? Not a damn cent! My pool contractor went there to get us a slab for a spillover. He called us to show us pictures. I told Tommy that I would not buy another thing from Thompson, and he needed to look elsewhere. Rumor has it, you fabricate stone for Home Depot. I feel sorry for anyone who buys from Home Depot and uses your fabrication service. As for signing off on the slabs, your salesman called me personally to ask me to come see the stone. He showed me one slab that was in a narrow bin leaning up against my other slab, which weighed a ton and could not be moved. I was unable to see both slabs as you were hiding the cracked one. I was told that this one looks just like your other one. I signed off on an agreement stating that the slab design was the one I selected on AGM Imports Granite & Marble's website in Charleston. I did not sign off on anything that mentioned damage or imperfections, only about design. Once we move into our home, I will have more time to take you to small claims court, consumer affairs and the BBB. They came in to do the job at the specified time to put in Whitendale kitchen countertops and returned to do the backsplash in the same Whitendale. They installed a large dual marble counter with two sinks for us in 2024 via Lowes Hardware. One entire sink cutout was done wrong.. The measurement guy was rude and difficult about everything.. As for what they do to complete the job it's just about nothing!! They slap down the counter and leave.. They have lists of what they don't do and that's just about everything!! They won't even caulk!!! Stay away!!! read more

Wish I could give a 0. I ordered two slabs of quartzite - cost $17,000. It was delivered to my new construction damaged with a long crack that was repaired. They fabricated the slab with the damaged area placed in the most vulnerable area on the overhang where people sit. This is are is compromised and will not support the weight of the overhang. They told me I signed off when the stone arrived on site and as far as they are concerned it's final. First, they showed me one slab in a narrow bin and could only see a quarter of the slab. Regardless, if I signed off on the slab, it wasn't fabricated yet. As a professional service they should have evaluated the slab before cutting it, and should have brought this to my attention and guided me to how this needs to be cut. They sent renditions of what the counters would look like but never said there was a crack. They are trying to make me accept this and scammed out if $17,000. This is not okay and now I have to file a lawsuit. They are the most unethical company and I would steer clear. I will continue to give bad reviews wherever possible. read more

Thompson Stone and Marble installed over $6700 worth of Cambria quartz in our kitchen two days ago. As shown on the attached receipt.   The process was smooth and Thompson was responsive in communicating the plan and contacting us for the measurements, slab pictures and the installers were great!   I had been contacted by Robert from Thompson before the fabrication, who provided me with renderings of the SlabMaster laser template against our exact slab.  I was concerned about jagged edges and was assuered byvRobert that this was just pixilation and he sent me a clearer picture where the edges looked smooth and straight.   What went horribly wrong? The inaccurate cutting of our expensive quartz as seen in the pictures below. On the full wall behind our sink we have tile which was there when the laser measurements, Jamie of Thompson, took in Feb 2022. Jamie never said having the tile installed would cause issues with the fitting of the countertops.   I was on conference calls most of the day of the inspection and after the installers had left had a chance to inspect the countertops.  To my dismay I found 1/4 inch gaps between the countertop and wall on the far left side of the three separate pieces of quartz . The far right sides, which butt up to the left side with each gap, is flush against the wall. It appears that slab was misaligned or was pulled to one side when it was being cut.  The gap between the wall and counter is exactly the same depth and shap.   I contacted Thompson Stone right away by email. I heard nothing for 24 hrs. I copied in Brittani who had been extremely helpful in the previous months leading up to our install. She said she had asked William to contact me. Later that day I was contacted by a woman from Thompson who advised me that the issue with the gaps was my fault due to having tile installed on the wall. That this would make the wall uneven and this problem was to be expected. I explained this was my 4th time installing quartz tile and each had had a tile backsplash behind it. Non of thos previous installation had this kind of issue.   I asked the representative to have someone from Thompson come out and inspect the tile as I didnt know if the pictures shown below displayed how bad the fit was. The representative told me that I was not understanding why this happened which she had explained and she would notate my account and contact the store where we had purchased the material. And further told me NO one from Thompson would be coming out as this was not their fault.   I will update this review with any changes that may occur in the future. As of now I would advise not to choose to have Thompson Stone install your countertops.   Also note we LOVE the design and look of our new Cambria quartz. We highly recommend this product. Next time we will use an official Cambria dealer/installer. Versus going to a big box and having their 3rd party installer do the work. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews prior to going to this store. I along with the others can confirm that they will not return a phone call even when promised. Regardless of who answers the phone they are rude. I went to this place on a recommendation from another Stone supplier, big mistake, William was handed my drawing with the dimensions of the stone I was seeking. He changed the "seams" of the stones that were to be put into place, and provided me a document of the sizes of the stones I was purchasing. When they arrived, one stone was the wrong size, I attempted to speak with William to no avail. The person answering the phone would not let me speak with him, finally after they hung up on me, and I called back I got to speak to William and explain that the size that he changed, let me repeat, I provided the sizes and the shapes I wanted, and he changed the sizes and the shape where the seam in the materials would go. When the stone arrived, it was `14" too short. Again I did confirm the size of the stone, 100", William claims that the stones would overlap, so overall the size was 100". Has anyone every heard of putting down a 44" piece of stone and then place another piece of stone over top of 12" of the stone? No, you would place them together, not one on top of another, William believes we are Stupid and he is smart. Wrong they cut it too short, even the diagram that William drew shows the second piece should be 100" from the seam, not overlapping the other piece of stone. Then they want to blame it on the customer, we agreed to the drawing, again if they delivered what is on the drawing I would be OK; but the cut the one piece too short. We have bought stone from them in the past (20+ years ago) and were pleased to know they are still in the same place, except larger selection. When I called to check on stone they were very helpful and told me that I could get any amount I wanted, that I didn't have to buy an entire pallet, they would just weigh what I picked out. My husband and I went and they were as pleasant and helpful as I remember from years back, we got our stone and are very pleased with their service. I was quite confused by the ratings, because they were nothing but friendly and helpful every time we have been. I will continue to use Thompson Stone and Marble for all of our projects. read more

Just had my $4k quartz installed and realized they not only made gouges in my new drywall but also took a huge chunk out of my brand new cabinets. My wife and I purchased our countertops (Quartz) from Lowes where the employee was very knowledgeable and helpful in our selection of Quartz over Marble. He then told us that they use an independent company for the installation. He told us it was Thompson Stone. I then proceeded to check online for reviews. I always try and weigh all comments because I know there are some people who are never satisfied and make up my own mind. This company has been in business for over 30 years so I took that into consideration. One of the main negative reviews that bothered me was a couple of people complaining about the seams that showed up and also how they were treated by owners, job survey measurement and installers. The first thing I would like to convey is that I couldn't send you a photo of the larger seam in my countertop because you wouldn't be able to see it. It is like it is all one piece. As far as the gentleman who came to do our measurements he couldn't have been any friendlier. I always ask questions to the point of being annoying sometimes. He went about his job and just answered and was helpful to me. The only time we had personal interaction with the owners was the day we had to go to the store on 544 to check our stone. Another person came in just after us but we were given the fullest attention and all our questions were answered in a friendly manner. We were then taken out to check our stone. The installers showed up on time and wasted no time in getting the job completed. As usual, I kept asking questions that they answered to my satisfaction. Lastly, I would like to say our job was completed about 2 weeks prior to our quoted time. read more

Their 1.5 star rating should be enough reason to stay away but let me tell you about my experience with this company. They were contracted through home depot to install countertops in one of my units. One of their employees came out to survey the job, take measurements etc....., nice guy no issues there. On the day of the install I received a call from the installer informing me that they could not complete the job because a small piece of the cabinet next to the stove needed a 1/4" shaved off in order for the counter piece to fit correctly. "That's odd" I thought- why didn't they mentioned that when they did the initial assessment of the job? But no big deal I'll call them and get it worked out. After talking to Thompsons I was informed that I would need to pay an additional $200 "trip fee" fee in order for them to come back and finish the job. When I asked them why this issue wasn't brought to my attention prior to the install their response was "it was overlooked." So now I'm being charged an extra $200 because you guys failed to address the problem during the initial assessment of the kitchen?After going back and forth between Thompsons (who made it abundantly clear they have 0 interest in customer service) and Home Depot my issue still has not been resolved. So at this time, it appears my best course of action moving forward is to go pick up the remaining piece (which is literally 6"x22" and pay someone else to put it in. I cannot stress enough my dissatisfaction with Thompsons. Please, please read these reviews and consider spending your money elsewhere. Countertop installers are a dime a dozen here and this company does not value their customers and makes that obvious through their lackadaisical approach to dealing with the community and their customers in general. They also damaged the walls during the install and one of my kitchen drawers. In addition, the counters really don't look all that great anyway. On March 8th I drove to Thompson Marble and stone from Ocean Isle Beach to purchase a matching piece of granite to several pieces we purchased a year ago from them. I was directed to someone named William who walked through the yard and found a matching piece. There were many close but there was one specific piece he was going to mark and I was to email him a diagram the next day ....which I did. After two days I did not hear from him so I called and was told he was on vacation. He never said he would be on vacation to me, thus I expected some sort of reasonable response. Regardless, who ever answered the phone that day said that Ashley would call me. I subsequently sent the diagram to Ashley's Email as instructed but did not hear from her either. I called again March 31st and the person that answered the phone said Ashley would call me and took my phone number. Ashley later emailed me asking what color I wanted. So the piece was already picked out. William should know the color and location of the piece if he labeled it as he said he was going to. It was a match to the table top I purchased last year and brought with me in the car.... and it did match. There were many pieces that were shades lighter and had more or less dark brown but the one we decided on was right on. Ashley emailed me back stating she would follow up Monday....this is thursday and no response. I've never done a Yelp before but this one is deserved. read more

Thompson did 2 projects for us. First was a large outdoor kitchen that was coordinated by a contractor and that project was satisfactory. The second project was a small kitchen counter in a rental property we own. Measuring was done incorrectly. The onsite adjustment chipped the back edge of the granite and the opening for the cooktop stove was not correct. Voiced my concern to customer service and NEVER received a call from ownership or management. STAY AWAY. Lots of other fabricators in Myrtle Beach read more

Terrible seams!!! Extremely noticeable. We are aware that you will see and feel seams on any quartz or granite countertop, but not to the degree in which mine appears. Purchased our quartz countertop through Home Depot. Thompson Stone and Marble was the supplier and installer. They did not use the machine that pulls the pieces close together. I was told by their installer (that had to come back and "repair" my seams that were pulling apart) that the machines are very expensive and they only have one, and was not on the truck they had that day! We had quartz countertops installed in our past two homes and never had this problem! (One from a local company, Upstate Stone in Sherrill, NY and one from our local Lowes) You had to look closely to find where the seams were and it was flush to the touch. According to Thompson, my new one has the acceptable amount of "lippage." I also had a rep from Home Depot come and look. I am so disappointed! We would have used Lowes again, but they didn't have the color we wanted. Stay away from Thompson Stone and stay away from Home Depot. I should have known better. read more

I had a counterop installed and had some issues. Apparently the guy that measured does not know how to measure or the fabricators messed up. Regardless no one took the blame. The first installer tried to blow it off when I questioned him on the way my farm sink looked. Turns out, one side of counter was 3/4 different than other side so sink did not protrude 1 inch over bottom cabinet as I had requested and discussed with the guy that measured. Long story short, I addressed to the owner I was not happy with the way it looked. Had we pulled out the sink some, we would have a noticeable gap in the back of sink. I asked that I get a reduction on balance to accommodate this issue. I was informed to pay up and basically shut up or he would take me to court. I never expressed I was not going to pay them. Just thought he would be kind enough to knock a couple of hundred or so off my balance. He suggested if I don't like, pay us more and we will fix. In my opinion, that was certainly not the way to handle things. The owner was rude and I wished I had read more reviews on these people. Also, we could have saved 1500 dollars getting same quartz from another company but the girl up front was so kind and helpful, we chose them. Wrong choice. We have built and sold many homes before we retired so we aren't the new kids on the block. Beware of who you deal with in Myrtle Beach area and put these people at the bottom of the list. read more

The man that came and measured my countertops (Jeff) was a jerk and I should not of continued with this company. I did look for other suppliers for the countertop I picked out but couldn't find any. So I continued down the rabbit hole thinking maybe just a personality conflict as he wasn't the installer. The installers came after their truck broke down and proceeded to install my countertops. They were rude and not very polite but I just thought it was because of the truck issue and all were tense. They globbed glue onto my brand new cabinets. Huge globs that my 3 year old grandson would not have done. The seams are wide and they used tan/brown adhesive for the seams on a light white/grey counter. I had these stripes of brown glaring at me. After many many weeks another team came and dug out what they could and replaced with the correct color. The seam edges are still stained tan and I notice them every day. Plus there is a valley/gap that catches when you wipe the counter. Do not use these people. I do love the color of the countertops but I see the flaws everyday on my $30,000 remodeled kitchen. read more

The next week, Thompson installed a sink that I never saw and which is so small that it belongs in a motel room. They have so far refused to acknowledge their mistake or make any offer to correct it or compensate me. I have since talked to other people who have had similar experiences. We just built a new house under a contractor who sent me here to pick out my granite. I ordered a Kohler cast iron sink. The contractor sent the sink, faucets and install instructions to them. After it was installed I noticed a Crack in the granite that went all the way through from the sink to the stove. I was not happy with that so they tried to fill it in, but it still looked horrible. I was supposed to have a soap dispenser. But they cut the hole wrong and it did not match the pre drilled hole in my sink. So instead of wasting their granite they decided to drill a hole in my sink to match their mistake. Now my warranty on my sink was voided. The Kohler coompany said it would rust. But Thompsons swore to me that they do it all the time, and never had that to happen. Well even after they drilled the hole in my sink the soap dispenser still would not fit. It took them over 3 months to come and redo my granite and put me in another sink. When they took out my old one it was already rusting at the hole they drilled in! My contractor said he was going to take his time paying them since it took them so long to fix my problem. Thompsons called me and said they were going to take a lien out on my house. I didn't hire them though. My builder did pay them, but now they have sent me papers from the police department to settle this. I would not recommend this company to do any work of any kind. They do not stand behind their work at all, and do a terrible job of installing. Oh, and the reason I caught the hole in the sink, it fell on the plummers head after Thompsons installed it wrong the next day. It pays to watch your new house being built daily. read more

I see a lot of complaints. As with most small businesses they do 100 jobs and the one bad apple screams the loudest. This company is one of the few strong family owned businesses, It has been at the same location for 30 years. I am a satisfied customer and I return to do business with them regularly. They are friendly, knowledgeable and I have never had a problem. I thought it is only fair that they get a GOOD review instead of the typical squeaky wheel knee jerk reaction reviews - usually customers that screwed something up themselves and try to blame it on someone else. read more

Had bathroom countertops and tub back splash done by them. Horrible job did not caulk anything cuts were made incorrectly. Large gaps counters don't sit correctly. So many things wrong don't have enough room to list. Company is worthless. They won't fix anything. this was subcontracted by HomeDepot that I have to fight with now to get fixed. The worst business i ever went to. January 30,2018. I sent a check to Thompson Stone & Stone on hwy 544 Conway for a headstone for my uncle.In April i called to see the update process. To find out that Todd was no longer with the company and my check was never deposit and could not be found. I was told to stop payment on the check which cost me $25.00 . I was told someone else would be calling me that never happen. I called back a few days later to find out that Todd was rehire. Todd kept giving me the run around about the headstone, I also found out that the headstone i wanted was change to a different stone. when i was suppose to meet with him at the store. I called when i was on my way there to find out that he was not there on May 17th. I asked the bookkeeper to refund my non stop fee and send me my voided check. We recently bought new countertops for our condo in Myrtle Beach. The women that sold us the tops was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up buying Corian tops for the kitchen and wet bar. The kitchen is U-shaped with a peninsula breakfast bar set up. The tops came with the install but I was going to do the tear out and install of the sinks. They proceeded to measure and set the new tops in place. They made a few splices that turned out well. Installed the back slashes and caulked. They did not caulk everything. They said the gap between the wall and backsplash was by me. It would have taken him 2 min but fine I can finish the job. They left and I proceeded to install the kitchen sink. The first thing I noticed was the opening for the sink was cut to big. (Yes the old sink was right there so they could measure it before cutting the opening) I am capable of doing my own home repairs so I made spaces with what I had available to center the sink as best I could. I had ¼" to seat the sink on all four sides. Because my spacers where a little thin the sink could still move leaving me maybe 1/8" to 3/16" to seat the sink if not perfect. The best scenario but could be worse. I got the caulk in and now tried to anchor the sink. The standard sink clamps are meant to clamp to a ¾" to maybe 1" thick countertop. When they cut the opening, they cut into the backer wood so now you are looking at 1 1/2" thick to clamp to. I investigated extra-long clamps but it was not going to help on the front part of the sink because the opening was flush with the inside of the cabinet. Bottom line no way to secure the sink on the front edge. I decided to work on the wet bar sink and quit on that as soon as I dropped the sink in the hole. The hole measured 24 7/8" wide and the overall sink width is 25" so in a perfect world you have 1/16" to seal on. (Yes, the sink was right there to measure) Absolutely not acceptable. We called the installer and they sent the guy back out and he installed the tops as best he could with calk everywhere. Don't need to tell you how bad that looked. He tried to clamp the sink to my spacers that were held in place with a single 1 1/2" finish nail (This was sad). It was obvious the flange of the sink was not pulled down flush with the countertop. I poured water on the kitchen top after he was done and water ran in. He said the silicon would just wash away if not cured 12 hours. The same problems with the wet bar sink. He re-caulked and the next day I tried again and water just ran right into the cabinet. Once again not acceptable. We called the installer again and they were going to send the same guy so I told them not to bother and I would call home depot to resolve this issue. Home depot had a third party inspection done and he said the openings where to big. Home depot called Thompson and they did not agree with the third parties evaluation. So Thompson made me an offer to ad 1/2" all around the inside which would make the opening the proper size as apposed to replacing the tops and stupid me I agreed. The work was done and the only did the sides but not the corners. I guess corners don't leak. I called Thompson back and they said this is all they are going to do. So now it is back in Home Depots hands. I will update this If Thompson Stone and Marble Makes this right. I agree with other comments if Home Depot does the install check the reviews of the contractor they hire to do the job. I hope this saves someone from making same mistakes I made. read more

We purchased a granite countertop and sink through Lowes along with a tear out of the old countertop. Lowes contracted out the work to Thompson Stone and Marble. We visited their store to review the stone slab prior to finishing and all seemed to appear fine. Several weeks later the install was completed and again everything seemed to go fine until we had the opportunity to closely review the project. We discovered that the countertop had several areas that appeared to be heavily scratched or gouged and that the sink silicone was peeling out from between the countertop and sink. We immediately called Thompson and they were to visit and make corrections. The day of the scheduled visit we waited all day for the visit as they expect that people have nothing better to do but sit around and wait. Finally after a wasted call to the store we received a call at 6:30pm from the service guy who stated he was some two hours from us and could be here at approximately 8:30pm if we wanted. We told him that was too late and not acceptable and to have the office to call us with a FIRM reschedule day and time. Apparently Thompson feels that if you just ignore the customer the problems will simply go away since we never heard from them afterwards. We decided to contact Lowes who made arrangements for someone else to visit to correct the problems. My advise is that if you purchase these type products from Lowes or Home Depot investigate who the actual contractor will be prior to signing the contract. read more

The purchase and installation of my countertops through Thompson for my master bathroom has been one of the most frustrating processes that I have ever encountered in building or remodeling. I had found the Curava quartz product on my own and contacted Curava directly to find out what business sold and installed the product in my area. I chose not to go through Lowes because I had heard so many nightmare stories about installation when dealing with a large company such as Lowes and there not being well-trained installers. Because the distance from my home is over an hour to Thompson, I never went in person and did all my business with them over the phone. Thompson initially sent a measurer to make the template for my master bath countertops. The measurer asked me about the fixtures I would be using for my new countertops, and I told him that at that time, I was considering changing to a 4" spread but that I had not made up my mind whether I would keep my current 8" fixtures since they are Moen and are still in excellent condition. Once I made the decision to keep the fixtures I already was using, I called Thompson and told the representative that I had decided to keep my current fixtures and wanted to make certain that was noted on my account. She told me that since the countertop was on order, that was not important at that time but that she would note it on my account. I never heard back about signing any paperwork and was told that I would receive a photo of my quartz when it came in which NEVER happened!!! I had been told that once the order was placed, I could expect it to come in the next week and an installation would be set up which NEVER happened. I called for three weeks trying to find out about the quartz coming in as well as setting up a date for installation. I would always get excuses such as a wreck that caused a delay in the order or that the person who needed to set up my installation was not there or just one excuse after another. Needless to say, I was already becoming very frustrated with the process and being able to put my bathroom back together for full use! Finally, after my having to call numerous times, an installation date was set and the installers showed up. Once they started taking my pipes apart to install a new sink ordered from a local plumbing supply company, the installer told me there was a problem with my pipes and that my water would have to be turned off until a plumber could repair. I had already lined up the plumber to come in on the following Monday and this was a Wednesday so I would have to go without water for five days! I asked the reason this would not have been required to have been checked before the installation or the reason the measurer could not have investigated this situation when he came to measure, and the installers stated that it would certainly make sense since this happens from time to time and that they would bring it up in their next meeting. Since I was leaving to go out of town but needed the water to stay on, I had to reschedule the installation for that following Monday and to make sure I had the plumber scheduled to come in right behind the installers. When the installers took out my current cultured marble countertops, they asked about the faucet fixtures to be installed which I told them would be the current fixtures attached to the cultured marble countertops. They told me that they would not work because the current fixtures have an eight inch spread and the holes on the countertops were cut out for four inch spread fixtures. He showed me that the order stated that they would be four inch. I immediately told him that I had called to specifically request that the holes be cut for my current fixtures! The installer called the owner, Andrew, who told him there was nothing he could do and to just leave if I was unhappy! I called the owner and told him how unhappy I was with the whole process of this purchase and installation. He took no responsibility for everything that happened and said that there was nothing he could do. Of course, I had already paid one half of the total purchase as a deposit when the order for the quartz was placed, and that would have meant them driving away and me having nothing to show for the $1,126 I had already paid by credit card over the phone to Thompson on February 9th. The owner only offered $200 off the balance owed, but I had to buy new fixtures which cost more than that when I had perfectly good Moen fixtures that were more expensive and a better look to match my current bathtub fixtures. The owner could have cared less and told me that that was all he could offer and if that wasn't satisfactory they would leave and he "would see me in court". I had not even mentioned anything at this point about legal action, and right away made that statement which makes me believe I was not the first to encounter an unpleasant situation such as this!
