The interior is very cute - there was a red checkered tablecloth on our table. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. When we ordered the espresso martini and mentioned we only wanted one to share, she came back with it split into two mini glasses! We've never had that happen before. The french toast was really good, esp. with the lemon curd. I was scraping every last bit of it into my mouth. I'd love to try other menu items next time!

We had a 10:45 reservation but ended up waiting outside on the sidewalk for over 40 minutes. We got a couple of "it'll be soon" updates and one offer to sit at a picnic table on the sidewalk. That wasn't an option for my husband's back. And, by that point, it felt like we'd already had the full sidewalk experience! To add to the frustration, we watched a table that would have fit our party turn over and be given to a group that had arrived well after us. Once seated, things didn't improve much. Our daughter has celiac disease, and after talking through options with our server, she ordered a modified breakfast plate. When it arrived, it had two slices of (gluten-full) toast placed right in the middle. We asked for a remake. While we were waiting someone came over to tell us (firmly) that the kitchen isn't dedicated gluten-free. We fully get that, but that's different from putting bread on top of everything on the plate, especially after we'd already discussed the restriction. As I was saying that, the staff member walked away. The interaction felt more like a lecture than the apology that would've been appropriate. The food overall was okay, but not memorable. My husband said the "special" Bloody Mary was the worst he's ever had--memorable, just not in a good way. On the positive side, the gluten-free coffee cake was excellent, and thankfully the company made the day worthwhile. My guess is there may have been an issue with our reservation. We made it in person previously and it was written in a notebook. When we called to confirm the day before, they initially couldn't find it. It felt like it might not have made it into the system, and they were trying to accommodate on the fly once they realized it. If that's the case, a little transparency upfront would have gone a long way--we would have appreciated the option to adjust our plans rather than end up waiting outside for so long. Overall, this felt like a series of misses and mishandled opportunities to improve the experience. It's also an excellent reminder of why I normally steer clear of dining out on holidays.

Very warm inside - a lot of nice funky seating and a great bar. They have slots/drawers you can tuck your phone to focus on dinner/company. I was curious and I will say... it was absolutely delicious. I do wish it was a little room temperature but it was smooth and flavorful. Crust is a great texture combo. They sell out for a reason... Broccolini was a bomb ass dish. Get this. The toasted sesame seeds.. chefs kiss. I'm putting this on my salads from now on. Duck was a favorite. Very earthy and comforting. Very tender and a good mix with the tomato and starch. Not the usual way I eat duck but I was happy. Sturgeon was probably my favorite. Not really used to eating this type of fish - it was very meaty, not flakey. Almost Filling. Had mussels, clams and squid in the white sauce with toasted bread. Hella shareable. Finished off with the L'Orange cake... they toast it with a crème brûlée ish cardamon topping. Definitely get this. Amazing experience. Will be back soon.

I mean the duck was so tender that I didn't need to cut it. That's about all I need to say I mean seriously. Most restaurants give you terrible bread and butter as filler, but their sourdough bread is so good that I ate the whole loaf before getting my meal. Whoops! Then I got the chicken liver. My dad used to make me eat Oscar Mayer Liverwurst as a kid but this was like totally way better! Entree was the duck, as previously mentioned. Bone app the teeth! Muah! And the dessert? Meh. Every time I get a fancy restaurant dessert I realize what a delicacy the molten lava cake at Chili's is. My American palette just needs more than what L'Orange cake can provide. Sorry not sorry. (From a future diabetic.) Service is great. They recite all the complicated ingredients to you when they serve it and talk about things like 'reductions' and freshly grated horseradish. Place is an old building which is cool if you reject stale modernism like an intellectual should.

The party was already seated when this reviewer arrived, and it was her suggestion to move outside -- not something the rest of her group seemed on board with, likely because it was a warm sunny day. The server calmly explained that the outdoor tables are large heavy picnic tables that can't be easily moved -- a completely reasonable thing to let a customer know. It's a small place and my husband and I never once heard any mention of a surcharge or gratuity. What we did witness was a loud scene that was clearly uncomfortable for everyone in the restaurant, including members of her own party -- one of whom stayed behind, finished his beer, and looked genuinely embarrassed by the whole thing. She mentions being a business owner in her review -- she should know there's always a more gracious way to handle a situation you're unhappy with, especially in a public setting. This place, its staff, and the other patrons didn't deserve her meltdown. This is a solid pizza place in our little town, give it a try.

I don't know what they put in their sauces, but I wanted to bring home bottles of all of them. Beautiful restaurant, we really expected a bit of a crowd. We were seated and greeted, waters were provided with menus. We started our meal experience by telling our waiter that we planned to do a progressive dinner down 3rd Street. We were met with a rather disappointed / disheartened response. Their menu was absolutely stunning. Lots of great options. As this was our first stop of the evening, we went for an appetizer. The Albacore Confit absolutely out of this world. Ridiculously good. Huge portion, plated beautifully. Wonderful for the three of us to share. We all raved at how lovely the dish was. Drinks were absolutely fabulous. Gin martini was SOLID. My partner didn't care for his wine but it was a first-time try, that isn't the fault of the restaurant. The Dolores O'Riordan martini was absolutely wonderful. The bar was timely with drinks, which is always appreciated. Overall, ambiance, food, and drink were AMAZING! Absolutely a 5-star experience. However, service just did not slap. We could have survived with the disheartened response at us only staying for one-course but the end of our time with Grounded Table kinda kicked us all in the butt. As they handed me the check, we were met with "We hope you can join us for an entire meal sometime". The inflection was just catty and unnecessary. Trying to look past it, I continued to complete the check but after they departed the table, my dinner-mates both whispered under their breath "that did not just happen, how rude!" Meh, this could hae been the easiest 5-star review ever. The attitude of our server kinda blew the entire experience, the comment was unnecessary.

Our female server was rushed from the get go. While I was perusing the drink menu, she ran off to get my partner his wine because he had decided already. She wasn't willing to wait 5 seconds for me to decide. She was in a hurry to service other diners. It wound up being this way throughout the meal. There was constant rushing and not paying attention to us. It felt awkwardly harried. The problem with the food was my dish came half hot, half cold. The quail was hot and very flavorful while the pureed peas and potatoes were served cold under the quail. Normally, I would send it back for this, but I was too hungry and didn't want to hassle it. This entree was $38. But the biggest offense was that I wrote the restaurant about my experience and they did not respond. I had a hard time picking what to eat, but I ended up going with the salmon salad. The person at the front said their popular items are the waffles and borscht. Both sound delicious, so maybe I'll try it next time. Their menu is unique and not the usual selection on a lunch menu, like a deli sandwich. Every plate is presented beautifully too. They put my large salmon salad on a bed of lettuce and topped it with beets, pomegranate, a radish, and what looked like flower petals/buds. I saved 1/4 of my lunch to-go. My husband had their salmon hash with potatoes, and let me tell you, that egg on top looked delicious. I saw some other folks ordering that, so it seems like a popular item on the menu too. We also ordered the matcha latte with coconut milk and the Bastion pink latte. Bastion pink latte is tasty and healthy (beets, cherry, maple syrup, ginger, and substituted with coconut milk). No caffeine though! I loved my matcha latte because it wasn't too bitter and not too sweet (I had honey for sweetener), but it was creamy and delicious with the coconut milk. The salmon is excellent, not too smokey.
