Absolutely predatory. Had my car towed in Isla Vista late one night because there was no parking in IV during midterms so I parked in a nearly empty lot. Came back the next day to find that my car was gone, and when I called both the towing company and the police, they said they had no record of the car being towed, meaning that they apparently failed to report it (extremely illegal). They claimed that the police were the ones who screwed up - still looking into that but I find it pretty unlikely. By the time I actually got a deputy to tell me where my car was, I was charged a two day holding fee plus $375 just for towing the car in the first place. Their sole purpose is to take as much of your money as possible. Like with previous comments, I got into a heated argument with the staff about their ability to find shady ways to get around the California Laws I presented to them when I got there. This company preys on poor college students living in an area with insufficient public parking and you absolutely should not give them your business. $555 in the hole because I wanted to park in a nearly empty parking lot for a few hours so I could get some sleep for my midterms the next day. Everyone expects to be ripped off by the towing company when their car gets towed, but Thomas Towing takes this criminality to another level. $95 per day storage fee, $135 gate fee to pick up your car on a weekend (i.e. when most people are able to), only willing to release the car if the owner is physically present or faxes them. Car was towed on a Monday; received no notification from the towing company. Went to pick it up on Saturday and had to pay a ransom of $1000. Hopefully someone in local government in charge of contracting with them notices this abuse. read more

Our company had a contract with a local towing company that had unacceptably long response times. With over 70 properties we required a solution to provide us with adequate towing. Thomas towing came out and reviewed our properties with us and had the signs up within the week! Extremely professional employees who give their best effort in order to respond with haste and provide their much needed service. While normally "towing" and "positive" aren't synonymous, Thomas towing is a positive example of how a business should be run. read more

This place is such a sham. I received a letter from them saying they had impounded my car. It happened to be a car I sold 3 years ago. When I called the the woman that answered the phone only told me that the car would be my responsibility if title never transferred and that i was responsible for the $1200 bill. If I didn't want to be responsible for increased amounts, I would have to get there asap. She was very good at creating anxiety. When I asked to speak to an owner, I was told he wasnt in. I left my number and he never called me. She didn't take anytime to understand that perhaps the car wasn't mine. I called the DMV and they said that companies like this will often send out lien letters to former owners. I would NEVER do business with them based on how they handled the phone call. They were so misleading and shady in how they handled the call. They are such a sham. Shame on them for doing such shady business. read more

They wanted $4900 dollars for a $300 car we hadn't seen in a decade. Suffice it to say, we have obtained legal counsel and they won't be getting a dime from me. I am honestly disgusted by this so called business. Yup, this is one of those reviews where the person states, "I'm not the type to write reviews, but I was so upset by the 'service' here that I will." The people are rude, inconsiderate, unprofessional scammers. Just like everyone else stated they charge ridiculous prices and have endless "policies." Like the $110 gate fee if you want to pick up your car on the weekend when they are closed, yet they will still charge you $80 per day including weekends you do not get your car. Or the whole fax ordeal. Getting consent of the owner is fine. But they have no mercy, and do not accept email, phone calls, written letters or anything. Ok, so let's say I accept the fact that I was not the person who parked the car, and a friend whom had parked for me parked in a spot 15 ft away with the same parking number from the spot I own & paid for, at an adjacent lot & apartment while I was oversees for a funeral. Sucks.. They needed the fax from my dad still out of the country. They did not want to accept any other sort of verification and again insisted on the outdated fax. Told me I was trying to get around their wack ass system when I tried to show them flight tickets and use an online site to send the fax in order to prove he was away and finish the transaction. Charged me another $80 despite my efforts and probable 4 times in and out of the place all day because my dad couldn't send this fax before 5pm due to the time difference and his access. Total $860 This place does not deserve even your business... Also heard from a friend that not all of their belongings were in the car upon pick up at this place. read more

The property management company I work for utilizes Thomas Towing for any parking-related issues within their communities. I have contacted them numerous times in regards to towing away any offender vehicles at the community I work at. Each time, I've found them to be quick, reliable, and thorough in their work. From the time I call, I'm able to get a driver out within about 20 minutes which I see as a plus. Their interactions with me have always been friendly and professional, and I don't see any reason why anyone would give lower than a 5-star overall review - other than those whose vehicles were towed by them, likely because they were incorrectly parked! I never enjoy having to tow vehicles away, but when I must, I know that Thomas will always be my preferred go-to. read more

Super horrible service. Santiago was the guy that "helped" me out. Got my car towed and when I called him he gave me a price over the phone, met up with him 30 mins after and he completely changed the price, but that's not the reason why I'm writing this review, the big issue I have with this company is because of the horrible service I got from Santiago all around. Also they keyed my car on the bumper with the shape of a penis. This company is horrible, and although I'm super mad at the fact that they would do such a childish thing I'm going to let karma handle it. My brakes went out on a Saturday night as I was coming down from the mountains on East Camino Cielo Road. Not a good place to lose your brakes....the other two towing companies I called: Smitty's and Love's--refused to come out. "We don't go there after dark." I needed to tow my car to the mechanics and my insurance company sent Thomas Towing. They arrived very quickly (within 30 minutes of calling). The tow truck driver ended up diagnosing the problem for me, saving me a tow to the mechanics and a ton of money! He even classified it as a service call instead of a tow so I wouldn't lose one of my free tows with my insurance company. Overall great experience! read more

Predatory towing company with incompetent, rude, and disgusting employees. They particularly like to target college students around Goleta, near UCSB. They'll tow your car in the early hours of the morning, even if it parked for less than an hours and then charge a $320 towing, recovery, and gate fee. I see them towing cars every morning and trying to be as inconspicuous and quick as possible. Called to get a tractor pulled from a grove. The driver was so helpful. Charged a very fair price and even stayed to make sure we were safely loaded. Wonderful service at a fair price. It is a shame that tow truck drivers get such a bad rap, this is not your typical towing service. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Heartless criminals. My daughter parked late across the street from her house and was towed bc it was the complex next doors lot. She went outside and tow driver said he had already hooked up (even though it wasn't lifted yet) and 'couldn't' let her move her car. Same faxed and arduous proof of ownership bullshit as everyone else on this site. They towed her car less than 5 miles to their lot. Wouldn't let them follow her and get it unless she paid a $100 'gate fee'. Like they wouldn't open the gate to put it in.....?????So she got charged the overnight rate of $80 and their pick up charge is a flat $320?????? WTF. My car was towed on a weekend, and when I called the company, the woman I spoke to on the phone gave me attitude for no reason. When I went to pick my car up, the man that helped me was also very unfriendly. I'M the one paying a ridiculous amount of money for a towed car, yet THEY were the ones being extremely unfriendly. Seems a little backwards to me. When I spoke to the woman on the phone she gave me a price to pick up my car, and then when I went to pick it up a few hours later the price was higher than what she originally told me.
