My wife and I were traveling in our RV we had purchased a few months ago. Unfortunately, we had one of the tires of our RV explode on the freeway and we made an emergency exit in Goleta. I had a spare but discovered I had no bottle jack to change the tire. Simple solution I thought, call AAA. Turns out my AAA membership expired due to a previously compromised credit card. The car was temporarily parked in a loading zone in front of her college dorm and they towed it on a Saturday to charge extra. We were traveling home pulling out travel trailer on the 4th hour of a 5.5 hour trip when we had blow a tire. It was 10 pm on a Sunday night and AAA denied our request because the tire was on the trailer. Thomas Towing had already offered to help but AAA said they were sending someone yet 30 min later I got the denial call. We called Thomas Towing directly and they showed back up quickly and changed our tire and had the best attitude. My experience with Thomas Towing, particularly with their manager Kyle, was deeply disappointing and unprofessional. While I understand that towing situations can be stressful, the way I was treated made the entire process unnecessarily difficult. After multiple attempts to contact the company via email to get clarification on fees and procedures, I received no response. When I spoke to Kyle over the phone, he told me that he was not going to respond to my emails. When I later asked him in person why he ignored my emails and didn't respond he said, "Because I don't have to." This statement felt dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional, especially when I was simply trying to resolve an already overwhelming situation. As a Black woman, I also felt that my concerns were being dismissed in a way that seemed racially biased. His attitude and refusal to engage respectfully left me feeling unheard and marginalized as a customer. Towing companies provide an essential service, but customers deserve respect, transparency, and professionalism, especially in difficult situations. Towed my car after i was gone for 10 minutes i got ahold of them and they told me it was going to be 500$ plus a 200$ gate fee to get my car back. I say okay, they then don't respond for 3 hours. They then tell me if the car isn't under my name i must have whoever is fill out a fax on the worst website ever. It didn't work so I went to the business to try to get help and the guy tells me i need to leave because if he opens the gate he's going to charge me another 200$ gate fee. This is the worst business with the worst people. This i should be illegal the way they screw people over. I still don't have my car as i'm writing this. read more

Horrible! They towed my sons car. He parked in spot and left town for 3 days and when he returned, the spot was marked for construction. Ok, I get that part. However, when he tried to pick the car up, they gave him a million hoops to jump (because he isn't the registered owner of the car, I am) through, and when he jumped through each of them, they added another. When he finally had everything in order for picking the car up, he arrived there, $1000 cash in hand and they told him he couldn't take the car because his drivers license was an Identification License as opposed to a drivers license, which is just not the case. The license was issued as a drivers license by the DMV. I am his insurance agent, I know the difference. They just continued to make it prohibitive to get the car back, because they wanted to keep it and auction it off. Thankfully, his girlfriend was there and was able to drive the car out. But no one suggested that, even though they knew she was there next to him. She had to ask. This place is a horrible scam. I wouldn't use them for a tow if they were free. read more

This place is a joke! They towed my daughter's car on a Saturday and on Sunday we provided all of the necessary documentation and they would not release the car to her because her car didn't have the recent registration. We just paid for it, due April 2, 2022 and have not yet gotten the new registration in the mail. They are going to charge $100 per day until she can show proof of registration. We live in Northern California so by the time we get the new paperwork and get it to her this will most likely cost more than $1000. Thomas towing, you should be ashamed of yourselves taking this kind of money from people who are trying to put their kids through school. Not only is it going to cost us a ton of money, but now our daughter doesn't have a way to work and school. Shame on you!!! Not to mention...The service you use to fax documents is also ridiculous. The first time I had someone parked in my assigned parking spot at my apartment complex. Was forced to call Thomas Towing since my apartment company has some kind of registry with them. They came 4 hours later around 3 am. The second time, they told me they'd be there in 30 minutes. They never came. Not even a call. Ended up having to park behind the random vehicle and waited for them to come wake me up to move their car. Joke company. read more

Giving this place one star is a stretch. They told us it took an hour to get towed over the phone and we were getting charged for one overnight stay. It was told to be $450. We waited over an hour and a half to get our car back. We went to pay and they said we were getting upcharged an extra $200 because it took them an extra thirty minutes to get the car from a parking lot. They gave us no proof of the timeclock and we were told we don't have a choice. Mind you, the parking lot it got towed from to the towing garage was 3 miles. No way it took an hour to begin with but saying it took them an hour and a half would be a reflection of how poor they are at their job to begin with. Cant believe we had to pay $650. It took awhile for him to arrive but he had Highway Patrol calls to respond to so I don't fault him in the slightest. The worst customer service I ever had with a tow company one they took way longer then the estimated time and two they tried to lie to me. I call at 7am the estimate 30-45 minutes which everywhere else was a hour wait right when it was 45 minutes waiting a driver calls to say he's on his way so 10 more minutes I call to find out where and what's going on they tell me that the original driver got stuck in traffic because of a accident so they sent another and tried to tell me that tow truck can go as fast as a regular car which is a lie if seen tow truck go faster then 70 on the freeway. I do not recommend this tow yard if another says it's a hour wait just go with them they probably will have better customer service read more

Had a car towed by them called the night they took it said it would be $285 and $95 storage and gate charge of $125 if we picked it up that night but they told us we can pick it up the next day Saturday between 8am and 5pm and will only pay $285 and $95. So the next day we drive over to get around 3pm the gate is closed so we called them again and said they only have 8am to 5pm Monday thur Friday and that will have to pay for gate open fee of $142.50 and also $100 for storage and then the another $285 release fee. If I could give zero stars I would I'm reporting this to Better Business Bureau. They scam people, looking after people's money. read more

Major Scam Artists - Beware We were parked at my daughter's apartment and came back and our car was gone. Called Thomas Towing and they had the car. When we went to get it 30 minutes after it was towed, they charged $515 to get the car out. When I told them they should be ashamed, he told me if I kept 'coming at him' he would not release the car even after I had paid. He was behind a window and I am a 57 year old woman weighing in at 118 lbs. Not too threatening. The tow charge was $280, Gate fee $140, Storage fee for 30 minutes $95. When we explained the situation (we were dropping our daughter off at her apartment and went in for a few minutes), he said his hands were tied. Horrible horrible people. When you see Thomas Towing run or drive away as fast as you can. They should be in prison for extortion. read more

My car was towed out of a friend's apartment building lot around 9:30pm on a Sunday night. I called Thomas Towing at 10pm, as soon as I realized my car was gone, and they told me the registered owner needs to pick up the car (fair enough) or fax a signed release. Fax? Are you living in 1990? The registered owner was out of state at the time and although I was willing and able to pick the car up that night, I couldn't because the owner didn't have access to a fax in the middle of the night on a Sunday. I offered a phone call, an email, a PDF, etc. Nope--it has to be a fax. I ended up having to pay an extra $110 in storage fees because the car owner couldn't get access to a fax until Monday during the working day. The grand total was $420 for towing plus 18 hours of storage. I can't imagine towing is an enjoyable line of work to be in but, I gotta say, Jerome and Kelsi were perfectly pleasant. They each get one of my two stars. Minus three stars for the fax requirement and extra $110 in storage fees. Please rid your business of this archaic rule, no one uses fax!!!!! What a scam. They towed my daughter's car yesterday and she called them to get the car. It was around 4pm. They wouldn't release the car to her, because I am the owner and said I had to FAX a release letter and copy of my license to them. Of course, I was 30 minutes away from home. I asked the guy if I could email him. He said they don't accept emails because they need a signature. So I said I would write the release out and sign it and take a picture of it and my license and email that to him. He had to get approval for this, which took a while. Then he said I could handle it that way, so I did. Then he said they were now closed and that it would cost an extra $100 for him to stay to release the car to her. She decided to pick it up first thing in the morning to save the money. When she got there in the morning, two women were working. They wouldn't accept the documents I have transmitted via email, even though they contained my signature. The photos they had received were more authentic than what they would get over a fax, yet they wouldn't accept them. While my daughter was standing there crying, one of the women called her "a pain in the ass" and my daughter told her that was unprofessional. I sent a fax of the release letter, and then they said they need me to fax the license in addition. So much for their reason for requiring a fax: the image I emailed them is the same exact image I faxed them. Who still uses a fax when documents can be digitally signed and or have actual verified signature images?? And the bill? $345. I will give a shout out to onetimefax.com, though. They towed my car overnight. Sometime at 3-5am in the morning and I had my keys and my cellphone on me but everything else in the car. I get there in the morning and when they finally release my car after some paperwork... BUT. it was a total of 445...which was ridiculous since I pickedi it up around 11am in the morning and my paycheck which I recieved from work the night before was gone. YUP. gone. the whole envelope, which was inside my purse. The whole time, overnight. no signs of break in or anything. Its kinda ridiculous how inconspicuous it was stolen too. My GPS, ipod and other things were still there...even some petty cash (dollar bills) just that whole envelope was missing... wow...unbelievable. $942 to tow 4 miles and store overnight! Please look out for scam artists like this. They will still run their business all week including the weekends, but the impound where they keep your cars has shortened hours m-f. They will charge you $130 for "gate fee" just to ask if you can have your car back. They also denied me a flatbed truck for my lowered car and insisted on using a dolly to move my car around. I was livid at this point and to top it off, they will not allow you to ride in the tow truck to the impound yard! They will take your car and leave you stranded! After I made a 2 1/2 hour walk to the impound and I had explained them my situation, they decided that they will not give me my car back until the next day. This 5 minute consultation had cost me another $130! These are truly the most unsympathetic and brutal individuals I have met, and I am only glad to have my car back in one piece despite them making off with $942 of my savings working at minimum wage. read more

This place is a racket. Most of the employees are nice and I understand they are just doing their job but to who ever the owner/manager is, you are taking advantage of people in distress. I was in a bad accident and my car was totaled and was very shaken up and so the CHP officer called me a tow truck. I think maybe whatever was closest. Anyway I was in a state of shock and wasn't in the headspace to ask how much it would be and so on. And they did not even mention anything about it, in and out. They do it on purpose. If I had know it would cost me my rent for the month for Thomas Towing to take it. I would have refused their service and called a more reasonable company. Come to find out they charge almost 300 dollars to take your car (and this was only a few miles) then it is another hundred every day it's there. They are closed on weekends so no getting your car out, but still charge you and absolutely no one from the company tells you any of this. Also my car arrived there at night and they charged me as if a full day and on the day I got it out it was in the early morning and they again charged a full day. And if you want them to tow it out so you don't pay storage fee it's another 300. They are totally taking advantage of people in distress. As if it's not bad enough that I was in a horrible accident and on top of that my insurance will not cover my car so I had to sell my nice car for a low amount and most of it was then turned over to the tow company. Vultures. Please in the future if you read this at the very least explain the fees and prices before hand to people who were just in accidents and let them make an informed choice. I don't even want to give a star but that's the only option. I've dealt with bad costumer service before but I think this takes the cake. The receptionists were extremely rude and unhelpful. I even spoke to the sheriff's office who agreed they had the same experience. There was no effort on their end to help EVEN when THIER credit card machine was down. After paying over 600 I had to wait another 30 mins until a driver arrived because my car was blocked in, again, the ladies at the front were extremely rude & no rush to be helpful or make the experience pleasant in the slightest. I was pretty shocked to see how people responded to having a tow truck on their street. I think they might be even more hated than parking enforcement. So many rude people, even had someone throw balloons at us. Thanks, not only do I have to go get a new tire but also wash my car now. Absolutely predatory. Had my car towed in Isla Vista late one night because there was no parking in IV during midterms so I parked in a nearly empty lot. Came back the next day to find that my car was gone, and when I called both the towing company and the police, they said they had no record of the car being towed, meaning that they apparently failed to report it (extremely illegal). They claimed that the police were the ones who screwed up - still looking into that but I find it pretty unlikely. By the time I actually got a deputy to tell me where my car was, I was charged a two day holding fee plus $375 just for towing the car in the first place. Their sole purpose is to take as much of your money as possible. Like with previous comments, I got into a heated argument with the staff about their ability to find shady ways to get around the California Laws I presented to them when I got there. This company preys on poor college students living in an area with insufficient public parking and you absolutely should not give them your business. $555 in the hole because I wanted to park in a nearly empty parking lot for a few hours so I could get some sleep for my midterms the next day. Everyone expects to be ripped off by the towing company when their car gets towed, but Thomas Towing takes this criminality to another level. $95 per day storage fee, $135 gate fee to pick up your car on a weekend (i.e. when most people are able to), only willing to release the car if the owner is physically present or faxes them. Car was towed on a Monday; received no notification from the towing company. Went to pick it up on Saturday and had to pay a ransom of $1000. Hopefully someone in local government in charge of contracting with them notices this abuse. read more
