I had been to my old dentist twice already because of pain on one side of my mouth. He took x-rays and examined me both times, but could never find anything. So I mentioned the pain to Dr. Wert. It took him five minutes to see what was wrong. He gently tapped on a couple of teeth--no pain--and then when he tapped on the third one it was clear he'd found the source of the pain. I had a crown on that tooth, and Dr. Wirt told me there was infection under the crown. He would have to remove it and clear out the infection. I was so relieved to know what was causing the pain, and that it could be fixed. I'm so glad he opened an office in Hellertown. Oh, and the office staff was very pleasant and helpful too.

This place was recommended to me by a family member who also said the front desk person was rude but everyone else was pleasant in the facility. Not a place that I want to spend my money AT ALL. I've had deep cleanings before whenever…read moreI've had to change dentists due to moving, etc. My recent dentist had me on a regimen that was working very well where I had a teeth cleaning every three months and didn't require a deep cleaning. However, when I moved Summit Smiles wanted me to get a deep cleaning despite my numbers suggesting my teeth / gums were in good shape due to my regimen. In any event, I agreed to just get in with a dentist. They told me my x-rays may not be covered by my insurance. I agreed to that too. I get a bill from them for $71.00 for a comprehensive oral examination plus I now need to spend over $200 for deep cleanings. When I call them, the girl immediately had attitude and had to ask me my name twice and over talked me. She actually tried to project that I was the one overtalking her (lol). I could not get a word in edgewise and she just kept telling me I have to call the insurance company. They aren't the ones billing me. I hung up on her because she was just extra rude and I was not being heard. I called the insurance company to find out THEY FAILED TO LET THEM KNOW I WAS A NEW PATIENT so that is why I was being billed for the comprehensive oral examination. So they made the mistake. Needless to say, I just wanted a teeth cleaning. I didn't need a deep cleaning despite them forcing it on me. I live two hours from my previous dentist and will return to them until I find an honest dentist and one who doesn't have rude receptionists with attitude. They lost a patient and it is sad the people who answer their phones is the cause. It appears from other reviews I am not the first one this has happened to.

Call 1: Approximately 11am - I am immediately asked if I would like to hold. Sure, no problem, I'll hold. 10 minutes pass without a single "we'll be right with you". I hang up. I am now irritated. Call 2: Approximately 2pm the same day. The phone is answered by a woman who talks to me for about 15 seconds, and then puts me on hold. 11 minutes and 33 seconds pass. I hang up. I am now pissed and decide to Yelp my lovely experience. Dear Dr. Hamel, You may be a lovely dentist, but you need to teach your staff how to handle phone calls. But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). Don't make the same mistake as me and go see Dr. Hamel for your next dental visit. Thank you Dr. Hamel, Mindy, Sandy and Maureen. I originally set up an appointment for a cleaning and the technician was wonderful and very sweet. When the younger Dr. Brand can in to check my teeth I I was very impressed with his mannerisms, friendliness. I had recently chipped a front tooth and a back tooth broke off the same day my regular dentist retired. (Go figure) I made an appointment with Dr. Brand to repair the chip and properly fix the tooth that had broken. I have to say he was wonderful, and his staff was wonderful! Extremely professional! Great music playing! My front tooth looks perfect! I highly recommend Brand Dental! A very pleasant upbeat caring environment and staff.
