I made an appointment to get new lenses in some Ray Ban Meta frames I got for Christmas. I called beforehand to confirm the job could be done, saw the doctor, paid for the appointment and even got measured for the lenses. However, Gloria can't sell me the lenses, so I can't have the numbers I need to get them put in online. I was a returning customer of close to a decade. Never again! read more

Paid $350 dollars for a pair of glasses and after numerous stories of why I don't have them, no refund or apology was given. They are willing to work with you if you receive a bill that doesn't make sense. I did not have the best experience here, but they did what I needed them to do, checking my eyes and updating my prescription. I was first seen by Dr Cofie for a sensation of something stuck on my eye. I was tested & diagnosed with Blepharitis. I was very impressed with the courteousness & multi tasking of the front Office Manager. Kathy was able to fit me into the schedule quickly. I was rescheduled for a comprehensive exam with Dr Cofie & was very pleased with his Professionalism and great attitude. Dr Cofie explained everything & his genuine concern for me as a patient puts him at the top of the list of Drs I have seen since moving back to GA 4 years ago! diabetic eye exam & general eye exam east Cobb shallowford I saw Dr Caffi ( sp?). He was very thorough , explained every single thing, professional, and super friendly. I had no more than a 2 minute wait for any of the steps. He gave me over the counter recommendations for dry eye. 100% better than the TEG doctor i saw in Roswell. i feel very confident to return there for further appointments. After reading some of the bad reviews on yelp i was concerned. I personally had a very satisfying experience with Dr C and various staff that handled my appointment! read more

My sister went here for her annual vision exam. They took advantage of her not completely understanding why she was having to pay so much out of pocket for services covered under her medical and vision plans. When I stepped in, I discovered they had charged her over $200 for services that were allowed and covered by her vision and medical plans. They are money grubbing and prey on the uninformed. The office manager is rude and their billing practices are unethical and morally wrong. Be forewarned. DO NOT GO HERE unless less you want to be ripped off by dishonest people. read more

I echo many of the comments here. The practice is very expensive and finds way to bill you and your insurance. I've been here many times and have always been 50/50. They nickel and dime you - I've never ever received a bill for dilation-here it was $35. The last straw was when they told my mother she needed some surgery because her eyes were in such bad shape. Charged her $200 for some "medically necessary pictures". She went to another doctor and received no bill outside of her normal copay for the same services and was told her eyes were perfectly healthy. Would not recommend. read more

This business is very conveniently located for me however I am rethinking my allegiance to them. During my last eye exam I was told that my eyesight without correction was over the legal limit to drive and that the doctor could not dilate my eyes to check for glaucoma so I would have to return at a later date. Then I was "goose marched" over to the area to be fitted for glasses. I really wanted to just go home as my meds that I take for chronic pain were wearing off. The woman trying to sell me glasses went as far as threatening to report me to the DMV if I did not buy glasses then and there. Mind you, not buy and wear them, just buy them. I wish I had heeded this red flag and asked for my prescription to have it filled elsewhere or get a second opinion. When I looked up the statute for Georgia, I seemed to be within the legal limit to drive and had managed to get to the office safely, so certainly I could have gotten home safely as well. Anyway after spending hundreds of dollars under duress I had glasses that do not really do much and actually make my vision worse in some ways. Last October I had a follow up visit to monitor my glaucoma. When I went to pay I told the person checking me out that I had met both my deductible and my copay for the year, however she insisted on collecting a copay and said I would have a credit for next year if I had reached those limits. Mind you none of my other providers questioned me or charged a copay since August when I had met those requirements. Second red flag. I had an appointment for the glaucoma earlier this year. I had already met my deductible and I told the person checking me out but she insisted on charging me the amount she looked up on a web site. I told her that I should only have a $50 copay and was ignored. I also brought up the fact that they had charged me a copay at the visit before which I did not owe and should be given credit for and she ignored me again and insisted on charging me the original amount. I wish I had asked to speak with the office manager about it or had remembered to bring a copy of the explanation of benefits for the last visit which clearly showed that I owed nothing for that visit. I reluctantly paid the amount asked for and sure enough, when I got the explanation of benefits from my insurance company it showed that they had overcharged me. Third red flag - if you don't count the fact that when they originally filed for the October visit they did something wrong and I was billed for the entire cost of the visit. After not seeing the claim on line I called the insurance company and they said that they had not received it. I called and got a recording as it was during the holidays but left a message asking them to resubmit the claim. They said that they had filed it and were told that my insurance was not in force at the time. I assured them that it was in force and to resubmit it. They agreed to resubmit it it and they were paid. Again none of my other providers have had a problem with my insurance and have not overbilled me. Now I am weighing if I want to keep going there because it is convenient or go elsewhere. What is that saying? Three strikes and you're out? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. read more

My Husband and I were behind in getting our eyes checked. Went to East Cobb Eye Center for exam and possible glasses. Selection of glasses was poor. We both felt pressured into buying glasses from them! After finally picking glasses we both DID NOT LIKE- we had to wait 3 weeks for them to arrive. When we picked them up- everything was fuzzy and the glasses were uncomfortable. We were both told we would get used to them. It has been several weeks- still cannot use them. The Exam and glasses were $1,200.00 for EACH of us! We were told today "All Sales were final and we would have to live with them! I am filing a complaint with the BBB today and anyone else I can think of! Beware of this office! By the way- the front office staff are rude and very unhelpful! read more

I had a wonderful experience here. I've been suffering from dry eye and what I thought was repeated chalazions. I was convinced I had atrophy my meibomian glands. I first inquired with them to have an expensive procedure that's offered here and Dr Melissa Giannamore reassured me it wasn't needed and that my eyes were a lot better than what I thought. She even had them discount my exam fee and gave me much more affordable options that would help me. I went from complete panic about my eyes to feeling relieved and was given advice I trust. I will be coming back here for any other eye needs. They could of easily charged me hundreds of dollars and were only concerned for my well being and what the best course of action was. read more

I have been a customer here for years and I keep coming back because the staff is just the best. The doctor is great too but I wouldn't stay for just a doctor. Please be forewarned! This office, now operating under Thomas Eye Group, has deceptive insurance practices. The long-term field eye exam associate denied using and filing my new insurance simply because it was "inconvenient and not already on file." These are her words. I came to this office over 10 years and always accepted the option to have my eyes dialated during my annual exam, it is covered by insurance. She didn't want to be bothered so told me to keep the appointment I should just choose the other option which is not covered. I assured her my insurance was valid and even showed detailed coverage per their app. This was not good enough. Now they have reported this nominal fee to debt collector instead of taking it from her paycheck. I was kind enough to write a detailed letter if this deceptive practice and the pretentious attempt to file via my old insurance just to say it was filed. It is all a lie to cover up the fact that my insurance should have been utilized. Why would Inpay for insurance and the service they would have covered. Good luck! I have A+ credit and this will NOT hurt me at all. I'll continue sharing this experience anywhere and everywhere. read more

I tried East Cobb Eye Center because it is close to where I moved. I went for a regular eye exam like I do every year and which is ALWAYS coved by my insurance. BIG MISTAKE! They were so insistent on getting my medical insurance information before I even saw the doctor. Now I know why. They only performed an eye exam but insisted on billing as a medical. NO other procedures or services were provided. My primary insurance also covers preventative checks and my insurance even spoke to them but they insisted on billing as a diagnostic. GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE. This is my first negative review of any service to even include restaurants. As a general rule, if I don't have something positive to say, I keep it to myself. My blood boils when I think about my experience. I went in for an annual eye exam to get glasses prescription. I was on a vision plan with a $15 co-pay. During the exam, Dr. Giannamore told me that I have the beginning signs of cataracts, but will not be needing surgery for several years. Being in my late 50s, that was not surprising. After the exam, I went to pay my $15 co-pay when I was told the bill was over $100. I said I was part of a vision plan and had a $15 co-pay. The response was that since I was diagnosed with a "medical condition" (cataracts!) that the vision exam no longer applied and now it was a medical exam. And because I had not reached my medical deductible, ECEC sent me a bill for an additional $100. I contacted both my employer's personnel dept and the vision insurance company. Both of them were shocked by the billing practices of ECEC. Eventually they got me a refund. read more

SO LET ME TRY THIS AGAIN. YOU KNOW HOW YOU GO TO THE OPTOMETRIST, GET AN EXAM, AND AFTER THEY ASK FOR INSURANCE AND YOU GIVE THEM YOUR VISION INSURANCE INFO. YEAH, NOT THE CASE HERE. So the doctor here doesn't claim your vision insurance, she claims your health insurance instead and at an exorbitant price. So instead of paying a 10 copay, you are paying 300 bucks out of pocket for a deductible or she bills your health insurance if your deductible is paid already. Insurance fraud? Yeah, but she contests it as a "Medical Procedure" spoiler alert! It's Not. She is not an ophthalmologist, therefore she is not a medical doctor. Just an optometrist. It's the same eye exam you get at any other clinic. Except she will, however, add a bunch of tests you do not actually need, to bleed you of $$ even more. Please be aware and ask questions about bill payments before the exam, and DO NOT agree to any extra procedures, better yet find a moral and ethical doctor. read more

Problem #1 - I was the first appt of the day, yet I sat in the waiting room for an hour waiting to be called back. When I realized that I had finished my entire magazine, I went to the front desk to find out WHY had I not been called yet to see the eye doctor. I was told in a very condescending voice, from some 20 year old, that I needed to sit and wait because they were "behind schedule" from the "bad weather" (rain!!). I asked to speak with the Doctor and was told that she had no time to talk with me because she was with clients - yet, I should've been the very FIRST client of her day. Seriously?! I told them to cancel my appointment, and they just lost a new customer. Later that week, I went to see a Dr at Thomas Eye Group. Much more reasonably priced, and very friendly staff. Problem #2 - I had to contact my Insurance Vision Plan to let them know that I had never even met with Dr. Melissa, even though she had submitted my paperwork to them for payment. I needed those benefits for my new Eye Doctor appointment. Took me several hours to straighten that out. Ridiculous! Soon after, I received an email survey from East Cobb Eye Center asking how my visit went. I was brutally honest about their rude staff and my visit there. Thought I might receive a phone call or email apologizing and asking me to give them another chance. Not so. read more

This practice is incredibly inefficient and difficult to deal with - from antiquated check in, to the extremely heavy handed hard sell to order contacts through them (when you can get them online much cheaper), plus the price of their frames at 2-3x more expensive than other stores, considering a new practice. Last straw was the unwillingness to extend and expired prescription for contacts when they were closed for weeks due to COVID. Great service read more

I'd said that we "would try" knowing it would be hard to get there by that time. My family of five went there for years and spent thousands of dollars there. My daughter was at college and couldn't make it to an appointment, we called and rescheduled. They imposed a 50 dollar late fee and literally refused to see her until it was paid in full. I refused to pay it and asked if they wanted to lose our business. Rude, overpriced, and unprofessional. Took my mom here once because she had an eye infection and they basically said that they could see what's going on with it. Charged us $60 for giving her an eye exam and they said that they can refer us to someone else. So, why did she get an eye exam if that's not even the problem to begin with? My wife and I tried out East Cobb Eye Center as they accept our my employers new Vision coverage policy. They ran a battery of tests and ended up being significantly more expensive than going to foreyes without a prescription. The choice of frames for glasses is poor and what they do have is expensive. My presecription lenses were supposed to have a decent bifocal section and be transition, they did not. I wanted a refund as my wife is seriously ill, their location is inconvenient and their opening hours are very limited, out of working hours. they refused. VISA refunded the cost of my lenses. I have written to GA State Board for dispensing opticians to complain. I have also complained to my insurance company as they have charged for lenses which I am not in possession of. Note unless you threaten them, they will refused to give printed copies of prescriptions so you can your own contact lenses and glasses. Overall AVOID at all costs. read more

I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I went in for a normal eye exam using my company's vision plan which features a $10 co-pay. During the exam, I was told that I have the early signs of cataracts. But no immediate concern; surgery is probably several years away. Being in my late 50s, this was not a surprise. What was a surprise is when I checked out and was presented with a $75 bill. I explained that I had a vision plan and the co-pay is only $10. The response was that due to the "medical diagnosis" (early signs of cataracts), the visit came under health insurance and not the vision plan. (Note: Because I have a high deductible health plan, I received in the mail a bill for additional payments - I cannot remember how much; maybe $50-$75?).
