I went with something from the Blue Plate Favorites menu and ordered The American Favorite. I ordered my eggs soft scrambled, just how I like them and the cook delivered. I didn't think I'd like the caramelized onions on top of the home fries but they were actually delicious. And I absolutely loved their buttermilk biscuit! Probably one of the best biscuits I ever had. My colleagues also loved their biscuits and said it was one of the best they've had, too! Our waitress was great. I believe her tag read "OMG Tiffany"! It wasn't crowded when we arrived shortly after 8am, so we were seated right away. The space is large with a combination of booths, tables, and a counter - very typical diner. There was a hint of retro vibes here, and as a whole the space looked great. Like many a diner, the menu is extensive with a variety of cuisines. The breakfast selections were pretty standard, but we noticed they offered some specials on weekdays that consisted of a breakfast dish, coffee, and juice. We all decided to order a special - and I went with the jack cheddar cheese omelette. I had a choice of meat to add (I went with sausage), and the dish also came with hash browns and a biscuit. The food itself was good - solid diner fare. The reason why I'm giving such a low rating is that there were major breakdowns in service. Coffee service was relatively slow, we did not get any juice nor were we asked to order it despite being part of the specials we ordered, my colleague wasn't offered any breakfast meat with her dish despite it being advertised as it being included, and my dish was served with a side of fruit instead of hash browns. These were fixed, but there was just a multitude of misses that really impacted the meal. Perhaps we came on a bad morning, but my experience at Silver Diner wasn't the best. I would consider giving them another shot, but I'm not running back.

Our first course was an asparagus salad with grapefruit that really had much more flavor than I was expecting, paired perfectly with a Muscadet. The second course was a chilled split pea soup with orzo and Lobster. My wife does not like Split Pea and the only place she has ever liked it was at ILW, this was great especially paired with the Ryan Patrick Chardonnay. The wine was dry not oaky and loved it. The third course was a bass and shrimp lightly fried on risotto with Serrano peppers that was delicious. My favorite wine of the evening was the Portuguese Mapreco. I had a second glass. Mind you I'm an Italian Red fan and these were all whites up to this point, loved each one. The chef took him time pairing these. My favorite course was a Brioche wrapped Beef Wellington, Ramsay would be proud. So good! Black truffle purée with a Bordeaux ended the savory menu perfectly. What was very nice was that you got an ample pour vs a tasting pour. Our dessert was a sample of items. Playing and presentation matters to this chef. Chef Dane then spoke to us for a good 10 minutes telling us his story and background. It's very personal for him and you can tell the passion and love he puts into his cooking to delight his guests. I highly recommend everyone coming out to this beautiful property. I would, however, next time stay the night at the Glen Gordon Manor bit more of a drive than I wanted after dinner. The manor is south of Front Royal on 522 and is gorgeous, quiet and you definitely feel like you can relax and enjoy yourself.

I completely understand that restaurants are dealing with rising costs, but this small detail took away from the overall presentation. We shared the escargot, lamb kofta potstickers, crispy mushroom Arancini, and cauliflower. The cauliflower was so delicious and savory, definitely with Middle Eastern influences, and I could've eaten a whole bowl of it. I thought the lamb kofta dumplings were pretty interesting--I haven't ever had anything like it before, and they did a good job of allowing the flavor of the lamb to shine through without being overly gave me. The crispy mushroom Arancini was quite good, though I'm admittedly quite small. The escargot was very well seasoned, with that perfect garlicky sauce, though they're not anything new.
