Excellent service that was friendly and fast. Burgers and tots were good, but wasn't impressed with the onion rings. Looks like a good sports bar to hang out.

This little dive bar is serving up the best Reuben Sandwich that I have ever had outside of New York. The onion rings are perfectly crisp as the batter holds on to the onion for that perfect bite! Mrs. Conrad tried the chicken bacon melt sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. Perfect batter and crunch again. Thank you Jarrod for exceptional customer service and doing a phenomenal job holding the fort down by yourself! #huntsville #hsv #food #dinersdriveinsanddives #jamesbeard #awesomesandwich

This is a smokey locals joint where young and old come together for sports, darts, bar food, cold beer, cocktails, and shots. The smokey establishment has a jukebox and billiard tables if you get bored and are looking for a challenge or just want to let off some steam. The bartenders insist you sit at a table where they will bring you your drink of choice if you dont intend to sit at the bar. I dont particularly care for it as I like to deliver my own drink of choice to my own table the moment my drinks are made. Different strokes for different folks. *shoulder shrug* The food is pretty decent. I havent yet received any bad food here. The atmosphere is...what you make of it. Located in a plaza with many other food establishments and plenty of parking. The restrooms I will say are pungent and need a haulover, but it is a bar so....deal with it? Staff is pretty adequate. Not sure I've ever seen one smile but adequate nonetheless. If this is a pregame spot for drinks you will smell like the Thirsty Turtle for the remainder of the night. Food for thought.

I have heard of this restaurant over the years and was excited to try their foods. We were greeted by smiling faces and reviewed the menu and ordered. I asked what was the big seller and was told chicken salad. I ordered a single serving of chicken salad, a grilled chicken on a bun and hubs ordered a Club Sandwich. Inside the restaurant looks dated and smells like old time sandwich bar to me. I could smell bacon when I was ordering out to go foods. Now to the food. I was underwhelmed. The chicken salad had too much Mayo and pickles for my taste. All I tasted was pickles. My grilled chicken was not to my liking due to the black lettuce on my bun. The piece of chicken appeared to be the frozen chopped up and made into a patty type which was not what I thought I was purchasing when I ordered a grilled chicken in a bun. The top of my bun was mashed flat. The Club Sandwich didn't satisfy my husband's expectations. The lettuce had small black spots that are visible in the picture posted. From a taste point of view, it was average. Nothing jumped out. From the time I paid to the time our foods were ready was about 4 minutes if that. The brownie was good but not great. It needed more chocolate taste. The favorite was the peanut butter crispy bar made by Best Maid cookie company. Hubs loved his dessert. I may have visited on an off day. Based on the foods we had, neither of us think we will return. I know locals love this restaurant's foods. Variety is the spice of life.

Since it is in the main part of downtown, super close parking is a bit of a big ask; we parked at a public government building about two blocks down and walked over. The inside is very small and only has a couple of two-seater tables and one bench setup, but there are multiple nice metal tables outside to sit at if the weather is good. Fortunately, we lucked out in that regard, as it was a nice day. The inside of the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing, so I was excited to order. Their lunch menu mostly consists of sandwiches and burgers, with limited sides like chips, broccoli salad, soup of the day, and so on. Bottled drinks and a couple of desserts round it all out. My parents split a Philly cheese steak sandwich with pasta salad; I got a chicken cheese steak with a cup of the soup of the day (potato), and we shared a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for dessert! The employees were nice enough to bring our food out to us while we were at a metal table on the patio, so that was sweet. Food came out relatively quickly and was definitely fresh. Overall, it was fine! My favorite thing was probably the strawberry pretzel salad; I wish I'd had a little more but I should've ordered my own portion! lol. The potato soup had really nice garlicky croutons on top that I enjoyed, though I wish there'd been bigger chunks of potato in it. I liked my chicken Philly just fine though I feel like it was missing some sort of flavor somewhere. My parents felt the same about their regular Philly. Unlike me, though, my mom unfortunately got several gristley bits she had to spit out. The chicken didn't have that same problem. Overall, a pleasant enough experience though I wouldn't say our socks were knocked off, haha. I'd return and try other menu options if I come back in the future.

It was fairly full on a Tuesday for lunch so we had to sit by the front door. The menu is fairly simple and includes specialty sandwiches, salads and soups, a couple desserts and not much else. For as large as this space is, you would think they would serve more food items. Maybe their kitchen is just very small, not sure. The server indicated many of their sandwiches are steamed. I tried one of their sandwiches, the casa grande without olives, with a side (potato salad) and a homemade banana pudding. Sandwich - this is a pretty good sandwich that is moist due to the steaming and a lot of mustard and mayo. They also forgot to take off the olives though. Potato salad - their version is like a German potato salad with some skin showing and plenty of mustard as the base. The problem was it was too chunky with a chunk of potato the size of my fist. This is just too big to bite. Banana pudding - pretty good but very sweet My colleague's sandwich was decent too, but he also had a problem with some soggy bread. The service was decent as both our soft drinks were refilled promptly. The whole vibe of the place is very laid back and there was even a live musician playing. I can't comment on the other orders (though they were eaten fast and completely), but my club sandwich was great. Piled high, fresh ingredients, and I liked the pickle--I'm a bit of a pickle snob. There are multiple options for sides, but chips were dandy for me. I snuck a bit of the gumbo and it was also tasty enough. We got our food to go, but the in-house salad bar was a popular choice by most. It was well kept, ingredients looked fresh and inviting, and I'd try it next time. Earlier reviews have complaints that seemed (to me) to have been corrected--it was a clean store (though I didn't visit the restroom), the staff were on point, and we had no complaints. Of note: I could see how parking could become a nightmare during prime hours due to the layout of the shopping center, but that isn't the restaurant's fault.

This visit was a bit disappointing. The lettuces were wilted and soggy from the water it was swimming in (I wouldn't have dare left that batch of spinach out like that), the actual salad bar was quite messy and there were remnants of food, including an egg in some of the dressings. I almost decided to skip out and go elsewhere, but I realized I didn't have much time left for lunch and decided to make the best of it. I spent several minutes wiping my Romaine and Spring Mix dry from excess water, before adding any toppings. So disappointed.
