We have quickly become addicted to their food! We've always ordered to go due to covid and we have not been disappointed. It is fresh and hot. They have gluten free buns and make sure to separate the fries. Definitely returning over and over! read more

Food is pretty good, we always sit outside since we stop here after kayaking the Squamscott River. My husband and I usually get 2 appetizers and 2 drinks - cider & beer. The staff is very friendly, the 2 bathrooms are clean (but disconcerting that there's a TV in there). read more

Friendly place! I came a week ago on a Tuesday, where they offer a weekly "burger and a beer " deal for $10 (fries included) and it was fantastic. They offer a large selection of beer, seating was comfortable, and there were a ton of TVs for sports. Very friendly employees AND customer base! read more

Last night my family and I had a really nice experience sitting out on the deck. We were spaced far away from other tables, the server was wearing a mask, and gloves when serving food and drinks. We felt really comfortable and really appreciative that the staff took such good care of us. Sanitizer machines at the entrance and near the bathrooms too! Given everything that's going on I want everyone to be really respectful and grateful to the restaurants opening and the staff that's willing to risk their lives to serve you. This place just opened and with the weather being so nice I want people to understand that wait times are going to be longer, and to not take it out on the hosts or staff if it takes much longer to be seated and receiving food and drinks. They are figuring out a whole new system and it's not easy. Things that guests can do would be leaving after having their meal instead of lingering for an extra hour at peak dinner times and NOT ordering another drink. It's not the staffs fault your reservation has now extended an extra 30 minutes, it's because no one is getting out of their seats. Consider your server, maybe don't make them split 5 checks for the table, don't ask for a meal with a bunch of different modifications and ALWAYS tip 20%. read more

Ordered 6 wings (which basically comes as 3 whole wings) w/the Spicy BBQ & Sweet Chili sauces on the side. Amazing dry rub w/hickory smoked flavor! My only regret was that I didn't order more ! Over 50 beers on tap too ~ read more

Stopped in mainly because of the reviews and the proximity to the hotel. The place was packed and on a 25 minute wait so I elected to sit at the bar. The bartender was courteous, prompt, and continued to check-in during my meal. The place is on the smaller side, but the decor and atmosphere is really good. I decided on the honey bbq wings and the cheese fries. The wings are jumbos meaning the wing and drummies are attached making them very meaty. The wings were perfectly smoked and the honey bbq was an excellent compliment to the smoke. The cheese fries on the other hand were a little disappointing. They are basically a pile of fries in a boat tray with a slice of cheese melted in the middle. I would definitely recommend stopping in. I will be back in 2 weeks and will make a point to eat here again. read more

We used to frequent this place when it first opened. They have a great selection of beer but unfortunately the food quality and accuracy has gone way down hill. We've been there twice in the last four months. Last time they served us raw chicken. This time they made our order wrong and they were less than sympathetic. I'm disappointed in the service and find it pretty unprofessional that the waitresses are sitting at the bar after work. It took several minutes for someone to come over and cash us out for our takeout order. They were unable to find it and then determined they made it wrong. We got a less than sympathetic apology and were sent on our way. This will likely be the last time we go there for anything but drinks due to Sea dog being right down the street and being exceptionally better. read more

So glad we stumbled upon this place. Some of the best French fries and onion rings we've ever had. Burgers were good too. Nice set up for dining during covid-19. Would definitely eat here again. read more

Not quite happy. Last week had an awesome pepperoni pizza... though the quantity of pepperoni was slim... the pizza tasted awesome. It was exactly what I wanted. Today ordered another pizza... extra pepperoni this time... and garlic knots. The knots were burnt and the pizza was tasteless. Very disappointed. read more

I really enjoyed blowing some good money here! The food is delish, very good quality for bar food, we did take out so I'm not sure about the service for dine in yet but the girl that took our order to go was very kind and patient to my picky, grumpy ass husband that couldn't make up his mind as he was exhausted from a 24 hour shift with not enough sleep yet lol . So that says a lot for me on the service and I was thankful she was too.. it's not just bar food slapped together it really good thought out menu and quality burgers n sandwiches we got. I seem to enjoy more services in Exeter than Portsmouth. Folks seem nicer read more

Bad system for seating people. System told us we were next yet the hostess sat others. Then the system told us our table was ready but the hostess said she had no idea why and the system is messed up. Waited over an hour and 15 minutes when told 20 minute wait. This was the second visit with a similar experience. We won't be back. read more

Don't bother with this place. They don't take reservations so we waited for a table to open up for our party of 8. After about a half hour we asked when the table would be ready soon they were just waiting for people to finish up. The party got up and left and we were thinking we would finally get a table when some group just walked in and they gave them the table. When we asked why the useless girl at the desk said the manager told her to give him the table. I'm assuming he must know the manager because he didn't have to wait at all. If the food is only as good as the customer service it will suck. We finally just left and went somewhere else. Will never come back. Stay away from this pathetic place!!!!! read more

Sat outside for over 15 min and not one wait staff even acknowledged us so we left. I was a waitress and no matter how busy you are , you should at least acknowledge your customer and let them know you will be with them soon. read more

My friend and I came here for dinner while visiting the area. our waitress kayla maybe visited us 3 times throughout our whole experience. we arrived at 5:30 and did not leave until 8:15. our drinks were always empty and we ordered takeout. kayla told us it would be out soon and ignored us for about an hour. finally we asked the hostess about the pizzas we had placed orders for and she checked for us. kayla brought out the two pizzas saying "sorry" and walked away. i am a server and i understand when it's busy it's hard to keep up with your tables but this service was just unacceptable she had maybe two tables including us and she focused more on side work than her current tables. I would not recommend based off of this experience. read more

Great re-design from last restaurant! Great tap selection. Bunches of monitors to watch the games. Friendly staff. However the food is the sore spot. Everything is just alright. And if they can concentrate on the pizza that would help a lot. The burger & meatloaf were just alright. read more

So disappointing we sat and waited 30 mins for waters and our waitress and an hour before we got our food, which by that time we had to go. I ordered a house garden salad that came with 3 tiny chicken fingers and my wife got a BLT salad. Our waitress apparently had way to many tables outside to have tables inside as well. Service was horrible. We each also got two drinks and our bill with tip was $120.00. This is absolutely crazy and so over priced. We will never be back read more

Love the Moose. Super beer selection, friendly staff, great food, and fun bar. Best menu items are the BBQ pulled pork pizza (get with ranch to dip) and their wings--order fried then grilled with the house hot sauce on the side and bleu cheese to dip. IMO best wings in the area. Great place to spend a Saturday/Sunday during football season. read more

This is a nice little tavern with a great beer selection. We went on an off time for lunch so it wasn't too busy. We sat at the bar and had two friendly bartenders wait on us. We split a delicious beet salad to start. Perfect! We shared the cheeseburger sliders and fish tacos. They were both good! Cheeseburgers were on a soft, yummy brioche roll. The portions were just enough that we had leftovers for later. Will definitely try again in warmer weather to sit at their outside area. read more

The moose. It's not as mighty a a moose should be. We were promptly greeted and had a brief wait. The chicken wings were very good but a terrible value. $8.99 for as they call it 6 but it's really 3 whole wings. You split em up there is your 6. Same game with 6 whole wings split em up there is your 12 for $15.99. Really? So we eat our overpriced wings Our food comes before our table is cleared. Our waitress did not clear our table or bring our food.I think they treat it as the food runner is supposed to bring my food and clear my table. If you see an empty pile of plates in the table anybody can pick them up. Waitress, waiter or manager. The busboy/food runner had hustle and was very polite. Thank you for that. The food is average. TVs could be found everywhere. Drinks very weak. I now know everyone talks about the beers here instead. They really can't mess up a draft . Can they ? I get the bill we ordered a couple of nonalcoholic drinks. They were good, however they charged us full price as if they had alcohol in them. NOBODY LIKES TO FEEL THAT YOU ARE INTENTIONALLY TRYING RIP THEM OFF. The bill was adjusted to different amount. I would think it was just a mistake if the table beside me didn't have an issue with their bill as well! If you go here it will be an average experience. I urge you to pay attention to your bill. In all of my reviews I never had to mention a concern over a bill. read more

Staying down the street in Exeter, Bestie and I made this our home base for our long weekend. While it was within staggering distance of our hotel, the extra cold weather made us rethink our plans and we decided that we would limit our consumption and drive. Our first experience was wonderful. We pulled up and found a parking spot right in front, even though the place was packed. Even with single-digit temperatures, there was a cheery fire pit lit in front, with several people huddled around it. We went inside and miraculously found two seats at the bar. Within seconds, the bartender, Siobhan, was over to take our drink order, and with glasses in hand, looked around the establishment. The first thing we noticed was the wall of beer taps behind the bar. They were mostly craft beers from around the area, with a few more widely distributed small breweries (we saw Two Roads from our hometown of Stratford, CT!), and a couple of national brands. Bestie, looking for a place to hang her purse, discovered charging ports at the bar. This is only the second bar I have been in that has had these, and it's a great idea for those of us who constantly need to be in touch with the outside world and fear the dreaded "low battery". Televisions over the bar (and around the room) were tuned to sports, and captioning was turned on so we could follow along (so few bars do this). Siobhan kept our glasses filled, and we finally noticed the wooden pallet high ceiling, which looked nice, but didn't do much to keep the noise level down. On our way out, we noticed the pizza oven, a large fiery opening in the wall near the doors with its own little bar. The next evening, we came in for a nightcap after dinner. Siobhan was off, but Tabitha was on the sticks, and made us feel right at home. It was a lot less crowed, as there were many Christmas parties in the area, but those who were there were having a good time. For our last night in the area, we decided we'd eat at The Thirsty Moose--we'd been looking at their menu for two evenings, and there were a lot of things that caught our attention. It was crowded, but we managed to find seats, and Tabitha and Michayla, behind the bar, made sure that we had full glasses in front of us before we even got our coats off. I started with the Moose Rolls: BBQ pork and slaw wrapped as an egg roll, with an Asian-influenced sauce. Hot, delicious, and a great twist on a classic. Bestie tried the poutine: french fries with cheese curds and gravy. This was her first experience with it, and she gobbled it down quickly. I guess she liked it. Even with all the options available, we both decided on sandwiches. Bestie had been thinking about pastrami for a few days, and she took advantage of it being on the menu, substituting a side salad for the fries that came with it. It had a good amount of meat and swiss cheese on it, and the Guinness mustard complemented it well. I had the BBQ Chicken Cheddar Bacon sandwich, because BBQ and Bacon. This, too, was plentiful and delicious. After a few more drinks, we prepared to go home. I bought some swag--a Thirsty Moose t-shirt for Writer Friend, who warned me not to come home without one for her. So, between food and service, this was a great choice for a hangout while we were in Exeter, and I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great selection of beer and food (and a place to charge your phone). read more

Ordering couldn't of been easier. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We got everything we asked for in our take out order and within the promise time. Yes they have pizza and yes it is good ! But those wings.... Smoked first then grilled these were hands down some of the best wings that have ever touched my lips! I am honestly debating rerouting my return trip just to have the wings one more time. Don't miss your it if your in Exeter NH this is a must. read more

I ordered a veggie burger for lunch takeout and it was very disappointing. The lettuce was brown and wilted and the tomato was not edible. They doused the entire thing in way too much mayo. Tomatoes are in season right now so there is NO excuse for mealy tomatoes. Gross. It was a veggie bean burger and it tasted worse than a frozen patty, soggy flavorless mush. Take it off your menu if you can't do it right. This piece of garbage cost $16 bucks. Think twice before ordering take out from here. read more

Haven't been here since before Covid. We arrived after 7pm and we're told we had to wait 25 minutes although plenty of tables were open, however, they were not cleared yet. We then decided to take the last 2 seats at the bar. The bartender was extremely busy but she greeted us, took our beer order and let us know the kitchen was backed up 45 minutes to an hour which was ok as we wanted to enjoy our time together. We ordered wings for our appetizer and sandwiches for our main course. After about 45 minutes the sandwiches came but no wings. The wings arrived shortly after. The California club and chicken tzatziki sandwiches was awesome. Both were served with a generous amount of fries. The wings were good too however they do not cut the wings in half and tell you that the 9 full wings are considered to be 18. The wings were huge. I couldn't tell the difference between honey bbq and Caribbean jerk visually but you could taste the difference. The wings came with a good portion of celery, carrots, ranch and blue cheese dressing. We had leftovers for sure. My only criticism besides my appetizer coming out after our meals was seeing the bar back cleaning up dirty dishes and glasses, washing them and then stuck her hand into a container to get a cherry for a sundae without washing her hands first. read more

The Thirsty Moose has become my go-to place when I'm looking for a night out with friends, family, or my girlfriend - and the venue really can suit any and all of those occasions. Their food is great (I have made it my goal to try every menu item at least once) and their beer selection is amazing. They have awesome deals depending on the day of the week as well, not to mention visits from breweries every week. Half-price pizza Thursdays are becoming a closely held tradition among my best friend and I. My one criticism is that some of their items are a little pricey. I'm a hot sauce wingnut and $9 for three full wings is a little bit much for me. Thankfully, many other items are really moderately priced. That said, I still recommend them wholeheartedly. I want to give a specific shout-out to the waitstaff as well. I have never had anything but a great and pleasant experience being waited on here. Every waitress I've had has gone out of her way to make us feel at home and happy. Truly excellent service. Hope to see you there. read more

We got takeout last night. 2 bowls chili, poutin, and a caesar salad. We ordered curbside service and were there on time - lights on - in the spots facing the restaurant. We waited 10 minutes in the parking lot and no one came out. Turns out the staff missed the large print that said curbside pickup. We went in to pick up and found the food was luke warm, not hot, chili had no sour cream on side, and caesar salad had no cheese on it. Not the best for a half-empty restaurant, and pricey for what we got. read more

I've been there a half dozen times. The seating is limited and awkward. Each time I go, getting seated is more stressful than it needs to be. The last time I went, there were at least 4 tables that were open, that needed to be cleared. I stood there, literally, five minutes trying to ask the hostess if there was a wait. Each question was ignored as it was impossible to get her attention. I walked out and went straight up the street to the Tailgate Tavern. They were more than happy to have my business. read more

Excellent burger and the Bavarian pretzel was fantastic! Great beer selection, fast service and friendly staff.

1:30 pm on a Friday in August - the patio had maybe 5 tables full, the restaurant had maybe 4 out of 10. We sat at the bar because there was no hostess In the area which was fine. Bar is lengthy and wide open with multiple televisions. Barman was prompt with menus and got drinks right away. Food service extremely slow for one sandwich and one mac and cheese and our server/barkeep was busy schlepping ice and sort of managing the back area. We had to ask after 25 minutes - "we had to make sure the grilled chicken (for the Mac and cheese) was cooked". Also - too much waitstaff milling around - the traffic jam is between the two sections of the bar for both incoming and outgoing which looks disastrous. Salad / prep lady stuck at the end of the prep area but she knew what she was doing! Young guy making pizzas focused on socializing more than keeping an eye on where the dough was going. Overstaffed for that time of day/size of restaurant which happens to be a repurposed Friendlys and the inside looks pretty good. Food was very good and the bar area was clean. Bathrooms are disgusting - the one that was open was unisex which was fine but the door didn't lock the trash was overflowing and it hasn't been cleaned recently. Overall good enough for a lunch but wouldn't make it a destination. read more
