    Needed a longer cook

3.75 stars We had our eye on this place and decided to finally make the trek up one day after all the recent hype on social media (plus we love Tabor so it must run in the family)! We ordered the garlic knots and love that they offer options of marinara or vodka sauce- vodka sauce please! Also had the New Haven since it's not super easy to find around these parts. The garlic knots were disappointing. Not fully cooked on the bottom and some piles of u distinguishable dough but the tops were lightly browned. Perhaps the oven was too hot? Not sure, vodka sauce was great and we loved the fresh generously grated cheese on top but we stopped after we both noted the mushiness of the knots. Consolation was that the flavor was there, just lacking on the cook. On to the pizza- a pie that shows well both on top and bottom. Sauce forward with a good bit of tang and the right amount of cheese. We felt it was a solid pie and while maybe not in the 8's for us, certainly the mid to high 7's. Aside from the knots maybe having an off day- service was very friendly, kind and accommodating and we will one day trek back to try the standard cheese pie! The place was packed for a random Thursday lunch so thats a great sign!

My kid in San Diego saw this in Dave Portnoy's... and said, hey Mom, you better check out this new pizza place while you're in Jersey visiting family! There used to be very mediocre pizza places in this strip mall. But this place, which seems to getting hype not just in New Jersey but on social media nationally, is super tasty. We didn't want to have it be too crowded when we went, given the new reviews. So we put in an order a day ahead in person, and then picked it up today right on time. We got a cheese pie and everyone agreed it was very solid. The dough was excellent and the pizza was very flavorful. We are going to try to try the New Haven before we leave town. I wouldn't say this was mind blowing but it was very good. One drawback is that they're so busy they don't have time to do slices. But right now they're not really serving a local drop in crowd, but more foodies in the know who are ordering whole pies. But the pizza is definitely fresher than Gencarelli's. So I'm glad news reached San Diego and my kid could fill me in during my trip!

I came in with high expectations after reading about this place on NewJersey.com, and I left very impressed. At just 25 years old, the owner clearly has a bright future ahead. I'm not sure where he learned to make pizza, but he absolutely knocked it out of the park with our lunch. We tried three different pies: the Cheese, the Hot Honey Roni, and the New Haven. The Hot Honey Roni was the clear favorite of our group, followed by the Cheese, with the New Haven coming in third. The Cheese pie alone deserves high praise as I'd give it an 8.9. It's really that good. I'll definitely be coming back, especially since it's right down the street from one of my customers. Looking forward to trying more of his pies next time.

I ordered online and initially I was shown a 40 minute wait. After I placed the order I noticed it was a two hour wait. If your order is scheduled for a time, don't expect to get it any earlier. My order was scheduled for 6:15. I arrived at 6 and was told to wait until the scheduled time. It was actually three minutes late. Oh well. While I waited I had a chance to check out the small dining area with seven tables - three higher tables with two chairs apiece and four tables with four seats each. You might be better off with a take out order. We opted for the New Haven pizza and Vodka Chicken Cutlet Parm. The pizza was very good. I really like these sourdough bread that they use and the sauce was tasty. No complaints on the Vodka Chicken Parm. It was a huge piece that I wasn't able to finish. There was plenty of cheese and sauce and it was truly delicious. Overall, the hype is real. Was it worth a 2 hour wait? Probably not but we would visit again.

Heard great things about this place for months so Wifey and I stopped in for a to-go order. Wifey and I took home a plain pie, a burrata pie, and garlic knots with vodka sauce. Service was super friendly and we got our order pretty fast for as busy as the were. Really loved the vibe of this place - they don't have a ton of seating, but enough. While there it was a constant flow of people picking up. As for the food...WOW, JUST WOW. We've been going to the same pizza place for almost 25 years, love their pizza. I don't know what to do moving forward because the pizza at Third Proof was RIDICULOUSLY good. Plain pie was delicious, with a GREAT crust and a really nice sauce - savory and not sweet. The buratta pie was even better...crispy crust, salty buratta, garlic and the amazing sauce. Finally, this was the first time I had knots with vodka sauce...there's no reason to go back to plain marinara because I'm hooked. Lots of garlic, nicely cooked and a fantastic sauce. Best pizza I've had in a long time.

First time trying Third Proof. My coworker who lives in the area told me about it. I came to check it out, and I wasn't disappointed. The food was delicious and worth checking out. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which is refreshing.

Placed a pickup order for 7:45 without realizing they close at 8. The place was absolutely packed with about 10 people waiting for pickups and full seating. Despite that, the staff was hustling, super polite, and very apologetic about the delay. They were churning pizzas out as fast as they could. We tried the new Haven pizza which was thin, saucy, and delicious. The vodka sauce pizza was super cheesy and oddly enough tasted even better the next day. The garlic knots were to die for. Cheesy, garlicky, buttery, crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside. We will definitely be back to try the chicken parms and get more garlic knots.

The Proof is in the Pizza!! throughout my busy schedule I always try to find time to indulge in new Pizza experiences. Anytime, anyplace, anywhere I go I'm always on the lookout. So I'm super stoked to report that upon first inspection of Third Proof I found some of the most expertly prepared Sourdough Pizza I've ever enjoyed. IYKYK, Sourdough is made with naturally fermented dough using what's known as sourdough starter instead of commercial or instant yeast to leaven and flavor the dough. The wild yeasts that are in a typical mixture are what's responsible for making the sourdough rise as well as creating great flavor and excellent texture. Made completely from scratch you can tell that each and every phase of this baking process has been carefully thought out and the obvious use of the highest quality ingredients here are clearly evident in each and every tremendously tasty bite. Baked to perfection, this thin style crispy crunchy Pizza only needs a first proofing to make it's case to the FULLEST!! !! Yes People The Proof is Most Definitely in the Pizza !! Come And Get Your Munch On!!

Wanna give this place 0 stars so they don't get too busy and I can always get this quickly. Honestly a top 3 pizza place I've had. I ordered the New Haven style with no parm (they actually read and followed that request which is a huge bonus now a day) and it was fantastic. Crispy with burned crust ends but the undercarriage is crispy but no burned. It's a sourdough used which has a unique and crispy profile. It's a relatively new place and the ovens look "legit". Will definitely be back for more. Top tier pizza!

If you love L'Industrie, you'll love Third Proof. The cheese pie is physically and texturally almost identical, which is pretty amazing considering that Third Proof is sourdough only and L'Industrie uses yeast. Sooo crispy (the kind that gives you ASMR vibes), but not dry -- with an excellent chew. Truly great pizza. The owner was behind the counter slinging pies, which is always nice to see in a sector of the food world where this started as the norm but seems to be a more rare occurrence. He was super nice, down to earth, and was genuinely interested in what we thought of the pizza and other famous spots we'd all tried. The place is brand new, so very nicely updated and super clean. At $21 a pie, this is pricey but worth it, and competitively priced for the growing northern NJ pizza scene. My husband (who already promised we'd be back within a week to try a square pie) and I will be regulars for sure!

The ambiance is what one would expect from a casual BYOB -- slightly better than average decor; attentive but not overwhelming service; and freshly-made and tasty classic Italian favorites at reasonable prices. I recently attended a surprise birthday party for a friend at Tuscany Villa and I can't say enough good things about our experience. The kitchen executes well on flavorful and beautifully presented dishes and every member of the staff was incredibly professional and attentive, making sure that our group was well-taken care of all evening. The dinner menu features typical pizzeria cuisine including a variety of slices and hot and cold subs as well as a variety of more Italian favorites including pastas, chicken, and shrimp dishes, which offers enough variety to appeal to everyone (including those with dietary restrictions like gluten or dairy intolerance). It's obvious that the chef takes pride making meals that present well and taste great. It's rare to find a spot that hits the mark on both high-quality cuisine and seamless hospitality. Even though my usual dining companion and I don't enjoy pizza - due to my lactose intolerance (more on that later) - we finally stopped in for dinner on a recent Saturday night. The restaurant occupies a historic building built in the 1870s that once served as Montville town hall and later became a tavern and inn catering to travelers making their way through northern New Jersey along US Route 202 and the Morris Canal. Today, the Columbia Inn offers diners a great neighborhood pub atmosphere with a lively bar scene and an adjacent dining room that can accommodate larger parties in a casual, family-friendly dining experience. Overall, our food was terrific. My dining companion really enjoyed her St. Peter's fish ($28), a flaky white fish topped with minced garlic, diced tomato with arugula, and a light tomato sauce alongside mashed potatoes and mashed carrots. I ordered the Chicken Scarpariello ($28) -- a very robust sauté of chicken, Italian sausage, and sweet and spicy peppers in a bold, tangy white wine and vinegar sauce -- also served with the mashed potatoes and mashed carrots. Both of us thought our entreés were genuinely delicious. However, we hit a plot twist. Navigating an Italian menu with lactose intolerance is already an extreme sport, but the description of the Scarpariello in the menu looked totally safe. Enter a creative sous chef, who apparently likes to improvise a little off-script. A few bites in, I realized my chicken was secretly wearing a cozy blanket of melted cheese hidden just underneath the sauce. I strive to be the lowest-maintenance diner on the planet and will happily eat around almost anything (while deferring my criticism to a Yelp review) to avoid sending a plate back to the kitchen. I was fully prepared to operationally pick off the cheese and soldier on, but our server, Yuri, caught my look of mild betrayal and swooped in like an absolute hero. He refused to let me suffer through a cheese-scraping mission, insisted on taking my dish back to the kitchen, and had a fresh, dairy-free version out to me in record time and offered his sincere apologies for the snafu. Major credit to Yuri for handling it like a total rockstar. I'm deducting half a star for the stealth cheese surprise and rounding down to 4 stars, but thanks to Yuri's legendary service and the fantastic food, we had a great night and will definitely be back! PRO TIP: The chef seems to enjoy freelancing and dishes may be served with slight variations from the menu descriptions. This has the potential to cause problems for people with food allergies -- so be sure to make your server aware of any specific requests when ordering.
