I've really onlv visited TCSC for coffee. They do have an extensive menu and have a few fun drinks. They have quick service and their drip coffee is satisfying. However, their specialty drinks are really not as good as other coffee shops. They tend to be overly syrupy and little burned tasting. If I come again I'll stick with the drip. read more

Just passing through on our way to the Indiana Dunes, I took a group a friends to this cafe based on the good reviews. They were right on. The location of this place is very strange being in a strip mall but once you find it and get inside it's a breakfast experience as good as it gets. The interior is clean and attractive with a decidedly alternative and artsy feel to it. That said, it isn't the typical "hippy cafe" that image seems to evoke but really tastefully decorated. Though the selection seems like standard cafe food they do have a nice selection of healthy dishes and smoothies to supplement the typical eggs, potatoes, toast breakfast combo. They also make their own corned beef hash in house which is truly devine. If you live locally and haven't been to this place yet, go. Go right now! If you've ever wanted to see the Indiana Dunes, let Third Coast Spice Cafe be one more reason to get there. read more

We stopped here on our way to Indiana Dunes State Park. We were seated upon arrival and the service was good. However the food was subpar. The portions were smaller than typical breakfast restaurants and while this was not a problem for us this might be disappointing for most. The pancakes were served barely warm and the omelet was not only small but lacked an adequate amount of cheese. Additionally the oatmeal was scalding hot and served with thawed blueberries in July. I added ice to my oatmeal to eat it. read more

I wanted to like this place sooooo bad. I choose it over the normal breakfast dive but wish I hadn't. The store is clean neat and inviting. I sat myself which I actually like. I was greeted by a not so friendly waiter who rolled his eyes when I ordered a water...sorry my bill won't be what you like it because I'm not a coffee drinker. At least attempt to hide your emotions. He brings me my water with no straw but I look around and everyone has a straw so I wait...and wait.. By this time I know what I want and I still need the straw! Finally get my food Corn Beef Hash with eggs... WHERES THE CORN BEEF!? This thing was so doused with onions and green peppers I couldn't taste a thing and the little itty bitty pieces of corn beef was ridiculous. Boooooo Needless to say disappointed Should've tried the mom and pop diner read more

Very nice foid. But waiter was not very friendly. He spilled juice when he brought it to the table and just pushed some napkins in my hand to clean it. He never mentioned where to get coffee refill and we had to find out from other customers. Also my wife overheard him to saying to others waiters that job sucked and was only worth it because if tips. He should really work in his attitude if he wants to get those good tips. If not for waiter this would be a 5star. read more

Love knowing that this business uses locally sourced and organic foods when available. We always enjoy the serene atmosphere and the good food. read more

The food is good. Smoothies healthy. Coffee is delish. 5 for the food. 1 for the service. The service is terrible. So averaged a 3.

Let's keep this short and sweet. Pros: - Great selection (lots of local and organic options) - Great staff - Good prices for the amount and quality of options Cons: - It's in Chesterton, but I live in indy. This mean I only get to eat there when I am in Chesterton visiting family. read more

Our newly discovered favorite place to eat when we visit Michigan City. The menu is new and fresh. We both thought our meals were unusual and tasty. My husband had Archie's Special and I had the Gravy Train Bowl; both were delicious. We'll certainly be back ho explore the lunch menu the next time we stop at the Michigan City outlet mall. read more

A hidden gem of NWI... I am consistently excited and satisfied with my experiences at this cafe. It's a perfect complement to a Saturday afternoon spent at the Euro Market in Chesterton. The only problem I have is deciding what to eat... their breakfast options are awesome, but their buffalo burgers are one of a kind! I went with a friend once and we ordered every single burger side that the cafe offered - sure, maybe overkill but it was certainly fun :) read more

This is our go-to breakfast spot when we are in the area visiting family. Bit of Swiss baked goods are available, and the fresh squeezed oj is a must. The omelettes are delicious, and the hash browns are tasty. service is friendly, and we usually make a point to get a loaf of bread to go. Can't wait to go back! read more

Great local spot! They have a few vegan options. We ordered the Coconut curry tofu (which was amazing), vegan chili, porta bella and spinach sandwich without cheese, as well as two coffees. The service was great and the cleanliness was exceptional. read more

Fresh ingredients and healthy choices (even for the kids!) are what I like about this place, even though I don't always get the healthiest items. Temperatures in the dining room are usually on the cooler side, so if you get cold easily, bring a jacket. My recommendations: 1) If you like biscuits and gravy, try it here. You will not need any other food. They give you a huge saucer/plate with 4 thick biscuit halves smothered in gravy. It's all the gravy you can use. 2) The old standby are the eggs, bacon and toast. Relatively inexpensive, and all I ever need in a breakfast. The whole grain toast is nice. The bacon is peppery! 3) Pancakes are delicious, and a good option. My wife also seems to like the French Toast. 4) They've got some kind of Cajun Chicken sandwich with bacon that I enjoy. The Buffalo Burger seems to always be on special when we go on either Saturday or Sunday. It's good. The fries are good, as well. 5) Yellow Bourbon Coffee. In this case the bourbon is a flower, not liquor. I dig this the most. The only downfall to Third Coast is that it closes at 3 p.m. So it's never a dinner option for us, which is a bummer, because it's one of the better places to eat in town. They serve a small orange garnish with every breakfast. It's a nice touch. They also have Italian soda syrups if you're into that sorta thing. read more

We ordered omelettes- the ingredients were fresh but I asked for mine to be made soft (not runny or brown) and the outside was a little too crunchy for my liking. I think I would go back here again and try something other than an omelette. The menu looks great. The staff was friendly and the coffee was good. read more

See all

I had the morning glory pancakes which tasted exactly like I had hoped they would, delicious. I wish they had come with a side like meat or hash browns though! It's a nice place to come for breakfast or brunch when you're looking for simple good food. read more

Delicious and natural food. Been here for breakfast and lunch. Flavors taste great. Had a gravy breakfast bowl and it was a huge portion. Coffee is delicious! Came in and sat ourselves. Quick service and affordable. Close to home and a favorite of mine! read more

Stopped here after a long walk with my pups at Coffee Creek. It was their first time dining in public and I was pretty nervous as they love to bark...dachshunds Anyway, once they settled in they were fine and our server, Miranda B. was incredible! She was very friendly, gave the pups water without me having to ask and she was just overall a fantastic server! Example, I asked how sweet one of the latte's was and again, without me having to ask, she offered to use less pumps of sweetener than usual. Just thoughtful! The food was delicious and I will definitely be going back again. read more

Great little coffee shop and breakfast place. Service was friendly and fast, coffee is good, they have a little baked goods area for those on the run but also have a sit down restaurant for breakfast and brunch. Plus fresh squeezed orange juice in a fun machine that the kids loved watching. They also have a little kids table with puzzles and books. read more

This place is great, especially during the summer (outdoor seating). The food is always healthy, tasty, and very fresh. The staff is both friendly and timely--I've never had to wait long for food or the check. I'd especially recommend the omelets; they're made with delicious ingredients that aren't as readily available at other restaurants. read more

So it looked like it was going to be a good eating experience. I ordered the corned beef hash which was overcooked hashbrowns with a few pieces of thinly sliced shredded corned beef that tasted like burnt garlic. The waitress offered to take it back and replace it with another dish. I ordered they are soup special which was apparently an appetizer as it was about 8 ounces of soup and then I was charged $10.45 for the hash. The soup was very mediocre and certainly not a full meal. read more

Ordered the Archies special. The blend of veggies was great! The only suggestion I would make to the owner is the description of the dish is a bit misleading. The veggies and eggs come on top of 4 slices of toast. If I had known that was the bulk of the dish, I wouldn't have ordered it. Again, food and service was great, just add that the dish is mainly toast. read more

We love Third Coast! Been going for years. My friends and I love going for brunch because you can choose from their breakfast or lunch menu. Their menu is accommodating to everyone, including those with allergies. David, the owner, has always been so friendly! Takes the time to say hi to me any time I'm there. Says a lot about a busy restaurant owner! read more

Same owners of Lemontree. Always fresh, farm raised animals. Great for breakfast and lunch. If I were you I would ask for hummus no matter what you want. read more

Loved the ambiance and staff! Vegan and vegetarian friendly options and delicious desserts. We were just stopping through on our way back to southern Indiana but i would come here in a heartbeat if we're ever back in the area! read more

Third Coast is our favorite breakfast spot in Chesterton. The staff is very friendly and always provide excellent service. The food is consistently great- not overly greasy, the portion sizes are perfect and they use delicious, fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is lovely- very clean, bright and there is always great music playing softly. There is also a coloring and puzzle station to keep the kiddos happy until the food comes up. Plan on spending a little more than you would at the greasy spoon, but you get what you pay for; it's worth every penny! ...and you're supporting a local business! read more

This place is amazing and it continues to be my favorite place to go since we moved to Chesterton 3 Year's ago. The blueberry pancakes are the best and corn beef hash is to die for. Always get good service and love the tea and honey they carry. Come here regularly to get both for home. Did I mention the fresh squeezed orange juice? Can not say enough good things about this place!!! By far the best in town, to bad they are only open till 3. read more

Stopped in for breakfast, amazing! I had the seasonal pumpkin spice pancakes. They were cooked perfectly and came with homemade cinnamon butter, and whipped cream. They were so rich I could only finish one. I wish my stomach had not betrayed me, as I would have loved to finish both. My husband got a bowl of some type, can't remember name, that came with eggs, potatoes, gravy, cheese, and a biscuit. He said his was very good as well. Wish I lived in the area to try every item on the menu. read more

Tried again on Saturday. Waiter was terrible. Had to flag him down to order. Food was really bad. We would have sent it back but we were starving. Won't be going back. read more

Best place in NWI for a healthy breakfast. Super nice servers and a great menu with lots of veggie and vegan options. Everything is fresh and consistently delicious. Although I'm not a vegetarian, I always order a meatless dish because they're so damn tasty. The giant orange juicer is really groovy, too. There's outdoor seating as well, but it's just a few tables next to the parking lot. Not the best way to enjoy your food, but if it's a sunny day and the restaurant is crowded, it's a nice option. I also love restaurants that don't have TVs. I find it really distracting to have one or more TVs within view, so that's a huge plus for TCSC. I'd love to give Third Coast five stars, but I personally don't love sharing space with lots of kids. Third Coast is definitely "kid friendly," which most people appreciate. I'm not a huge fan of little ones crawling around, but it's not a deal-breaker. I come here about once a month if I know I can leave my grumpy pants at home and put up with other people's children for an hour. read more

Stopped her with my boyfriend and 17 month old. Service was decent but nothing spectacular. Waitress didn't bring our food and let it sit under heat lamp for 15 mins. She never asked if we wanted to order a drink for baby and never checked to see how our food was after delivered. Food was okay but a bit overpriced for the quality. read more

My friends and family seem to like this place for no reason other than it's close to town. After being here three times my opinion is that it's overpriced mediocre food, lousy service and I really don't want to go back. Sorry. I'm going to push for Round the Clock next time. read more

Traveling on the road like we do, it makes it extremely hard to find good food. And let me tell you - the food wasn't good, it was GREAT. There were four of us with four different preferences and taste palates, and we all still came to agree that this is the best lunch stop we've had on our 4 months on the road. I ordered one of the veggie omelettes with home fries, and my boyfriend had the raspberry cheesecake French toast. Both were amazing. Our friend Mike has the chili and he was obsessed with it. I would be a regular here if I lived close by! read more

Very fresh, very good breakfast and lunch choices. However, be warned that you are paying for quality, not quantity here! Don't expect "normal" portions here, but the food is sooooo tasty!!!! read more

On a visit to Notre Dame and an overnight stay in Chesterton we yelped a good breakfast spot and found ourselves enjoying a delicious brunch at Third Coast. Easy to miss in a strip mall if you're not looking for it, this is a perfect spot from a delicious twist on breakfast and brunch favorites. The Thirst Coast Omelette was a winner and I also nabbed a few bites of the pancakes. Great service and ambiance. If we're in the neighborhood again, we'll be back. read more

First off, yes this place can be pricey, but hello , if you're looking for healthy DELISH food, then why not pay more? If you're looking to be a penny pincher then go to Denny's, its that simple. Anyways, got a little sidetracked. My bf and I visited Indiana twice so far to "get away" (Dunes, beaches, hiking, etc) and we're not health nuts by any means, but we try and eat healthy when we can. Also when we travel we like to kind of take advantage of places that aren't franchises, so we wouldn't have them in Chicago. Hence, us trekking here to eat to start our days. The first time we can to indy we ate here when this place was still new and expanding, I don't remember my meal much (3-4 years ago) but I remember loving it and the OJ was fresh squeezed. This past time we came, we noticed that the restaurant finally looked "completed" and had a larger menu. I ordered a southwest style omelet that came with whole grain bread (toast) strawberry jam. I also got flapjacks that came with cinnamon butter and maple syrup that was actually mapley and didn't taste like I was just eating liquid sugar. My boyfriend also had an omelet and hashbrowns and we both had oj and coffee. First thing we noticed, yes the oj is still fresh squeezed. and the coffee tasted homemade (not the bitter grainy flavor some places have with a pot that probably hasn't been cleaned). Also the omelet was incredible. A lot of times I get omelets and theyre either not cooked right or the veggies inside are over seasoned , or the cheese is a running mess, yuck. Not here, the egg was perfectly fluffy and seasoned, with the veggies added a nice flavor with the shredded cheese on top. My bf's hashbrowns had a nice smoky garlic flavor to them, and the jam had chunks of stawberries in it. The best part to me were the flap jacks. I LOVE flap jacks. But this is a simple thing I feel not a lot of restaurants execute well. Either they taste like fluffy paper , or they taste grainy, or they're too sweet (like sugar was added to the batter). Not here, it was the perfect balanced of what you would expect grandma to make you on a Saturday morning. Besides the food, the setting is real nice, lots of colors and very friendly servers. They had a few bees outside near the patio area, but remember , Bees are Bros, so we didn't kill them just shooed them away and they left us alone. When we left, we left FULL, for most of the day. Next time we're in Indiana, we're coming back here for sure. read more

We were in Chesterton and looking to get some carryout. Had a decent meal at Third Coast once before, but this one was problematic. Ordered a coconut curry bowl and it came with no coconut curry? How does that happen? The turkey and cheese sandwich came with no cheese and the side chips we're missing, too. We all want to support restaurants thru the current situation, but you'd like to get a somewhat honest effort in return. Not sure how I could go back. read more

This is my go-to breakfast place when I'm in NWI and don't want to start my day with a grease bomb. They use local, fresh ingredients in the food and you can definitely tell by the taste. I am also a huge fan of breakfast beverages, and reign over the table as the Beverage Queen. Third Coast provides drinks that are of suitable quality for monarchy. They have several varieties of coffee, including organic, and they have a new fancy machine that makes orange juice while you watch - they put in whole oranges, and out comes awesome juice! I love the homemade quiche here - they are individually made, so you get your own small quiche that was just baked. The last time I was there I got some sort of vegan breakfast burrito/wrap thing which was delicious, but more lunch food than breakfast. I had to make up for it by eating a muffin. So sad. read more

EXCELLENT breakfast!! The food quality is very good. You can taste the fresh ingredients. We've yet to have anything that was not good.

We have been coming here for two years and have noticed that things are progressively getting more inconsistent. I pretty much get the same thing every time and have noticed that the service and food has changed a bit. The breakfast was always good and as of lately the food has been different to say the least. I'm not happy about the changes like putting my toast in my bowl of chili or gravy train because it makes the toast soggy and also hard to put the jelly on. The server said it was to conserve on dishes and no one likes the toast anyways. I don't understand the point of serving toast to begin with if no one likes it. The service appears to be more lax now since they would rather sit behind the counter, to text and gossip so if you get an offer for a refill on coffee please take advantage of it. read more

Food was good, filling, it took a little long but there was a lot of people. Beautiful spot. Great staff and they offer paper and plastic products to cut down on waste. Scenery was beautiful and simple with all the flowers. I really enjoyed it. And our server was a peach. She made sure we had more than enough to drink while the food was taking a minute to come out. Will be back. read more
