I've been here for Rigatoni's, Bank of the West (Now BMO), Health Unlimited, and iSushi. On the other side was a Safeway, Ross, Castro Valley Bowl along with other businesses. This place is usually pretty busy, lots of different types of businesses here!!

Update: after coming to the Village Shopping Center additional times since my above comment had been notarized, there are days or perhaps certain times of the day where the parking lot appears empty and it is easy to find parking, while on the majority of times / days I have been - they are usually packed with hardly any parking avail. Sometimes I have been lucky to snag a spot where someone was just about to back out. The spaces are kind of tight and narrow pathways, drive slowly! There are a lot of businesses that have remained here since I was a child and student at CVHS. Lots of new fronts and name changes to others. I haven't taken a stroll around the entire center, but there's a drug store, ice cream parlor, discounted home goods, apparel stores, fitness businesses, specialty goods and boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, the bowling alley is still here, nail salons, juicers, and more. Since its the holiday time, they had a tree lighting ceremony advertised. I thought that was a nice community event that might bring people and families together, though I questioned where the tree was going to be due to the tight space. I would want this center to continue to have a lot of business - good businesses here. I want to see CV's downtown area become an area that I would like to frequent or go to vs. driving to Danville or Walnut Creek or San Ramon. I hope there would be ways to create more parking around the area while increasing the businesses or being strategic in which new businesses should open to create a thriving atmosphere.

It was not only fun to support a local new business with a 10% discount, but to scratch off a possibility of winning a $15 voucher when you purchase $30. Although I didn't win the $15 voucher, but ended up scratching off for a pen offer, I thought it was a creative incentive.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming, chatting with me a little bit about little dog as I was the only person in the shop then. I do love that there are quite a lot of hair claw clips, was able to find one that looked like my dog (white maltipoo). For their grand opening, there was a 10% off discount and my clip was packaged in the cutest little bag. I'm definitely keeping it to reuse as a cute gift bag for sure! Final Thoughts: Adorable little shop that's perfect for cute gifts with fairly reasonable prices for the items. I'm sure people will say they can find items for cheaper else where, but as a small business in Castro Valley, it is nice to be able to shop and check out items in person.

Come early as the parking lot can get full. Always grab a cart because there is so much good stuff. Or not-up to you. I like to peruse almost every aisle, looking at each item of clothing- I got a whole system down. Of course I'm paying attention to the color tag sale of the day, but if it's cute, it's going in the cart. The women's section is great but the men's section is good too. Their racks are packed full. They don't have fitting rooms but there are mirrors if you'd want to pull something over your clothes to try on. What's great is that they also have bathrooms. Very convenient especially when you're shopping a long time. The store also has kids clothes, shoes, small furniture, housewares, toys etc. Did I mention they have a lot of stuff? The store is clean, organized and the employees are friendly. Some items can be pricey, sure, but it's all about rummaging through to find those hidden gems and getting a good deal. I think it's fun. I truly love this place and always come back when I'm in town.

There isn't a fitting room, so I generally try things on over my clothes. While most of my experiences have been good, the staff hasn't been as nice during my last few visits. I wasn't aware of the no-tag rule unless a specific lady was there to change the price. An employee quickly took an item from me, telling me oh well come back tomorrow. Their staff isn't the nicest and sometimes ruins the shopping experience regardless of their selection of items.
