This is a great place but NOT a restaurant. You can grab fish and dip but don't plan on eating here.

I was able to get salmon, trout and walleye as well as a smoked fish spread. Too bad we left the next day or we would have been back.

Although it was busy that day, the service was very attentive and the Rachel sandwich feature that I had was very tasty. They also have an extensive wine and beer list in the craft cocktail. Unfortunately tonight I didn't get here early enough so I sat out by the bar, which is absolutely fine. I started with a French onion soup, which I normally do when I'm here, tonight it was a little less oniony than it usually is, but that just could simply be a function of whoever was ladling it up. It's still absolutely delicious. For dinner, I had the chicken piccata with a baked potato and steamed green beans. The steamed green beans are a staple while there are a variety of other sides, such as onion rings or Alfredo, etc. I was a little disappointed in the piccata this time. It was less lemony and more oily than I remember. The lemon wedge helped, but I don't think that piccata would have to need additional lemon to the sauce. The green beans also a little heavy on the butter as was the baked potato. I don't want to say that the meal wasn't flavorful, because it was and my server while really busy was an absolute gem, only that it was a little heavy with the melted butter. After many excellent experiences here, this won't turn me off to coming back again and trying something else. Especially if I can get a table in the back!

Was really impressed that there was a congratulations card at our table, signed by the whole staff, plus multiple employees stoped by the table to share too. Nice touch! We sat outside in the screened in pouch overlooking Lake Superior. Really great view and unique experience. Lots of unique drinks on the drink menu, with happy hour offerings. I went with my stand by... Dirty Beefeater Martini. But my wife had something unique... but I couldn't tell you what it was. Service was excellent and our food was great. Six, twelve or individual. Chophouse House Salad (gf) $8.95 Mixed greens, apples, blue cheese, caramelized pecans, champagne apple vinaigrette. Morels were in season, so we were able to add them to the steak and both were delicious. I particularly loved the salt plate the steak was served on. So much flavor!! The salad was good and the oysters were also good. We ordered the pecan praline dessert that I thought was ok. I probably would have liked something else for dessert. I definitely didn't care for the Brussels sprouts. I'd recommend getting some other side dish. I loved being able to look outside from our perch within the restaurant. From that perspective, I thought our table was fantastic. Service there was fine. I'd told the staff that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and the staff gave him a hand-signed birthday card, which was a nice touch.

The place was comfortable and there were lots of people there-made for a fun atmosphere. What was discouraging was the food. Granted, we got there a little after 8 PM and we knew it closed at 9 PM. We were sure to order quickly and we had the muffaleta quarter, the half pound of shrimp boil (mkt price), hush puppies, a side of beans and rice and two bowls of seafood bisque. We also had lemonade, beer and hurricanes. The drinks were all really good! Unfortunately all the food was sub par. Shrimp Boil: a half pound was about 6-7 shrimp and they were clearly overcooked. Like I'm pretty shocked they sent it out like that. Dry and rubbery and that's one of your Mkt Price items. Side of corn for the shrimp: my daughter found a hair in it that was pretty deeply buried in there. She didn't try it after that. Hush Puppies: dry and while the sauces helped, we shouldn't need to cover something in sauce to make it appetizing. Muffaleta Quarter: it was pretty mushy and didn't have a lot of flavor to it-my subjective opinion. I love muffaletas, so this one hit hard for me. It was almost like there was too much meat and not enough olive tapenade (I think that's what it is?) Seafood bisque: there were no bits of seafood in there. I was really surprised by this. Beans and Rice: it looked like it was sitting out for a long time and was bland and a little crusty. I try hard not to write a negative review without some pretty objective facts, and we let the waitress (who was very apologetic and helpful) know about our concerns. She took the shrimp, beans and rice and the corn off the bill. With regards to the seafood bisque, when I asked if there should be seafood in it, she let me know that they blend up the seafood in the bisque, so there are no chunks of visible seafood. This just made the soup taste like there was nothing in it. I don't think I've ever had a bowl of seafood bisque without visible chunks of seafood in it. I'm really surprised that they would advertise and serve it like this. Maybe it's just me, but I would expect to see and taste seafood in it. I was really hoping for more and I hope this was just a fluke. I was going to stop by there for their brunch over this weekend, but I'm unlikely to give this another chance. I spent $94 plus tip for 3 of us and we didn't take any of it home.

You cannot beat a classic, especially when it's patio season and the Summer Shandies are on tap…read more Smokin'Hubster and I popped in for lunch and had a fabulous time. We rarely sit outside but this patio beckoned and we were helpless to resist. There's even outdoor seating available if you arrive before the restaurant is open! Silas brought us menus and took drink orders right away. We enjoyed the season's first shandies while exploring the menu. His attention was perfect and we shared some laughs each time he returned to our table. Neither one of us wanted to share (I guess) so we each ordered our own appetizers. I can never get enough smoked whitefish spread... until it's ALL MINE! I enjoyed every bite and would do it again. Patrick ordered the walleye strips and he did offer me a bite (generous devil that he is). They were perfectly crisp without being heavy or greasy. If I had known that... nah, I'd still get the whitefish. We'll be back to visit The Portside and try more menu items. Who knows, maybe we'll split something next time?

It's tucked away inside the Masonic Square Mall on the main street, which I hadn't noticed before. Apparently you get an hour of free arcade play with the purchase of a bowl of ramen, but the arcade games were not our thing, and the pinball (one machine) did not appear to be included. Oh well, at least I found really good food here. My husband and I shared the vegetarian Miso Shitake Ramen (with gluten free rice noodles subbed for the ramen noodles, and egg on the side) and vegetarian Shitake Gyoza, and both were delicious! I was intrigued by the Nihon Chaat summer special, but I feared it might be too much food, and it probably would have been. The interior is small and filled with arcade games, so the seating is right outside in the mall area (still indoors). There is table service, though, and the server was super nice and helpful. I hope this place makes it despite their slightly hard to find location, because the food is really good! Highly recommend!

She basically made me feel as if I didn't know what I was ordering and I was truly unsure of what I would be picking up. Upon pick up I was directed to the back counter where I stood waiting for someone to acknowledge me even though there were three team members in the immediate area. Once acknowledged I stated I was there to pick up a TJ Taxi with no cheese and fries. This was repeated to the kitchen and I waited about 5minutes more before given my food. They did honor the 10% discount the hotel mentioned so that was nice. The wrap was decent but not what I was expecting so I'm not really sure what I received.
