Rice, half a curry and another curry dish with a ton of sauces.
    Sheelz J.

Tried this place for the first time due to the reviews. Well, our food arrived and it's a no go for us. The quantity is too little even for 2 people and a kid. We ordered a pad Thai, 2 curries, one veggie dish, 2 rice. The boxes of rice is minuscule.

    Green curry lunch set

I'm not overly familiar with lunch spots in the West End, but I can't imagine too many would have a comparable deal to Thida Thai. For around $10 today I got a lovely plate of green curry, rice, spring roll, and salad. The curry hit the spot--creamy coconut base with just enough heat and a heaping portion of deliciously aromatic rice. The veggie spring roll and salad were standard. All in all a delicious, filling, and uncomplicated meal that I would happily repeat again. The place was quite empty at around 1:00pm. Our server was friendly, and the food was delivered quickly. Thanks, Thida Thai!

It really is hard to find a good Thai place around the city. With that said, this place may be my new benchmark. Parking is virtually non-existent here. You may want to walk. The staff are actually Thai, and are prompt. Excellent. The inside is decorated with many pictures of Buddha and elephants. It's a bit on the tacky side (looks like mid 90s) but the ambience is nice. Their soup is freaking good. I'm not sure about the authenticity (I don't remember having mushrooms in my soup in Thailand) but they had just the right mixture of sweet / sour / saltiness / spiciness. omg. I cannot praise the soup enough. Yes it is pricey at $10+ per bowl (large), but split among your friends, this stuff is crack. I also had a chance to try the red curry with rice. The rice is $1.95 on top of your dish. This is nickel-and-diming in my opinion, which is why I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars. I'm sure no reasonable person would eat an entire bowl of pure gravy and not go away hungry. But the quality of the food was again, excellent. Just the right mixture of spices. Highly recommended.

Phad See Ew - my wife just told me the photo doesn't do it justice. She's right!

This is our favourite Thai place - the Phad See Ew is amazing! And the photo doesn't do it justice.

    drunken noodles, to go
    Hamilton O.

The history of the drunken noodles (the dish) is that it's something Thai people order or make at home to cure themselves from a night out and heavy drinking. It's supposed to be simply noodles and whatever else you can find in the fridge, and to be spicy. It's usually very tasty and unique, esp when they use cherry tomatoes, fresh thai basil and peppers. Well, ordered some drunken noodles at thida thai. the dish was put well together, but missed the freshness (not to mention there's no tomatoes on sight). It's tasty, but you can do a better one at home - which shouldnt be the case, ever! Not happy, but will certainly try their other dishes.

Usually, that would be enough to make me look elsewhere. This time, I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. The stall is run by a genuinely friendly couple, and the service was impressively quick. My order was ready in about five minutes and handed to me with a bright smile. There was something refreshing about that kind of service. No fuss, no long wait, just a warm greeting and a hot meal. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai combo for $16.75, just a little more than the roughly $15 regular dish. The combo comes with a pop, soup and spring roll. The pad Thai arrived loaded with crunchy crushed peanuts, crisp vegetables and savoury shrimp. The noodles were soft and chewy, while the vegetables and peanuts brought plenty of crunch and contrast. There was a nice balance of sweet, savoury and tangy flavours, with the shrimp adding a deeper savoury note throughout. I went with medium spice, which turned out to be just right. There was enough heat to warm me up without overwhelming the food. The spice lingered on the palate, giving each bite a pleasant kick while still allowing the other flavours to come through. What I enjoyed most was how much the food reminded me of home cooking. It did not feel mass-produced or thrown together simply because it was lunchtime. There was a certain care in it, like someone had taken the time to make a proper meal. For around the same price as something you might get from a school cafeteria, this was considerably more satisfying. The soup was the one weak point. It was essentially hot water with a little salt and cilantro, and I could have done without it. The spring roll was much better, adding some crispness to the meal. Little Bangkok may have been the quiet stall, but the food gave me a reason to stop. Fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavours, a satisfying mix of textures and just enough spice made the pad Thai genuinely enjoyable. Add the remarkably fast service and the warmth of the couple running the stall, and this was one lunch-hour gamble that paid off.

I didn't really like the table we sat at because it was on a slant and the the table was a bit wobbly so it made both sitting and eating a bit awkward. We shared an appetizer platter so I was able to try the following: - Spring Rolls: Good. Better and lighter than I expected. - Satay: Good/average. - Crispy Wontons: Average Service wasn't great. Rushed, not readily available, and both drinks and food came out fairly slow. Overall, it was ok. Nothing really outstanding in food or service, andexpensive for what we got. Would be willing to try again, but only if someone suggested it.

The restaurant is located on a busy street and is unassuming/easy to miss so I'm glad my boyfriend pointed it out for us to try with some friends. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. I also liked the fresh raw bean sprouts on the side. The khao soi was curry noodles with tender beef and crispy egg noodles. The curry was very flavourful with a hint of heat and sweetness. This was also my first time trying curry noodles at a Thai restaurant. The green curry was filled with bamboo shoots, peppers, and a good amount of chicken. The flavour from the bamboo shoots really comes through as well. For the crab fried rice, it came with a spicy sauce and pickled vegetables.
