Service was a bit slow, but the drinks were great, and the atmosphere was definitely in a different vibe from the time you arrived to their hidden menu. It's worth getting a reservation and trying for a low key well made cocktail on Boise. read more

Thick as Thieves is a really great experience. From the moment you dial the phone to the moment you exit out the back, there is a bit of surprise and fantasy. The ambiance is very nice, very dark. Not sure if there is a dress code, but I wouldn't feel comfortable in shorts. The service is incredibly friendly and will make you feel special. You never feel like just another customer, even when it is your first time. The drinks are well crafted, yes definitely crafted. We found many interesting ones on the menu, and the bartenders are quite capable of crafting something to your liking. This is definitely a place that I would take a date, a business colleague, or a CEO. Note, do expect to pay $20/drink, with tip. read more

You guys! If you haven't made it to Thick as Thieves yet, drop everything you're doing and make a reservation right now! From the moment I reached the top of the stairs and grabbed the phone, I felt like I was doing something naughty. They check your reservation and then come out to grab you. There's a door and an elevator expectantly waiting, but that's not where you're going!!!! As they usher you through the secret passage way, you're greeted by a 20's vibe art Nouveau style bar that is low lit with swanky heavy curtains all around the seating area, a fireplace, and a muted winter color palate lending to the boujee, cozy atmosphere. When they seat you, they hand you a menu with little black lights which reveal secret menu items. We arrived for happy hour, but the rest of the menu was so enticing we didn't choose anything on the happy hour menu. You absolutely get what you pay for, and let me tell you, these bartenders are craftsmen! We started with the "Poppy don't Peach" like a bourbon peach pie - hubby liked this one so much he ordered two. I had the Sailors Knott, which is kind of an old fashioned with rum, and the essence of toasted coconut. You had me at toasted coconut. Next I had a Vodka drink with passion fruit - my absolute favorite food! This one was really special! The passion fruit must have been in to foam on top because I got its essence every time I went to drink past the foam and it was delightful! Lastly, we asked the bartender for a recommendation, Bourbon for hubby and Gin for me (don't knock it til you've had GOOD gin - the general consensus here is that people who don't like gin, love their gin drinks, so I encourage you to be adventurous). Per the bartender - craftswoman's suggestion, hubby got the Night Cap a very boozy selection that had him getting tipsy by the end of the second one! Must've been good! Haha For me she recommended her favorite with gin - the oil and canvas, what a spectacular work of art! With every sip I was more intrigued! Olive oil emulsion in a drink?! Who knew?! The essence and slight sweetness lended to the complexity of flavors dancing on my tongue! One more please! DO NOT - I repeat, DO NOT skip this one! It is absolutely stunning! This was honestly THE BEST date night we've ever had - albeit it was the most we've ever spent on drinks, but again, you get what you pay for and the service and romantic, swanky ambiance is worth it alone, then factor in the drinks...they even offer mocktails and I have every confidence that if you didn't find something to your liking, the bar craftsmen at Thick as Thieves would be able to craft something to your taste. I'm only disappointed I didn't get a pic of the bathrooms - weird right? Well, it's all about the details, little vintage tea tins filled with mints and such. No detail was forgotten at this establishment! We will absolutely be back, and request a little more private booth to really capitalize on our time together! Thank you Thick as aThieves for an incredible experience! read more

Love love love! Staff is so knowledgeable and so helpful. Not a gin drinker but they may have turned me apparently when I have it "right" gin is delicious. Great speakeasy -- private/hidden entry, dark-ish interior, excellent design and decor, great cocktails, and friendly, knowledgeable server. However, for the price of the drinks ($16-$20), the huge ice cube taking up approximately 75% of the volume of the glass was a disappointment. read more

My wife and I visited a couple of weeks ago and let say the cocktails and music are superb!! I asked our waitress if she could have the bartenders craft a cocktail with citrus, duck fat and single barrel bourbon. She came back with the best cocktail I've had in 5 years easily! My wife loved her drinks and the vibe is amazing w/a staff that is awesome. We are planning our trip back from CA as we speak! read more

Read about how this was the new trendy bar to visit while in a Boise. I enjoyed the unique atmosphere and secluded feeling. The drinks were finely crafted and well balanced. Unfortunately, while sitting at the bar and having a few drinks each; we were never once approached by a server. I had to flag someone down to reorder drinks on several occasions. When I asked for my check, I asked one server and waited about 10 minuses. After I knew no check was coming, I then asked our original server, and he promptly got us our check. The atmosphere and drink quality give this place a lot of potential. But the dismal costumer service makes it somewhere I can't see myself returning to. read more

Speakeasy is alive and well in Boise. This is well hidden, in plain sight downtown. Once you enter and dial in the ambiance is excellent. Our group throughly enjoyed the time, service and drinks. The space is well laid out and even with energetic music it's easy to have a conversation for a group or as a couple. We had several of their bar offerings. All are well designed and painstakingly crafted. We enjoyed the entire experience. read more

Thick as Thieves in Boise is a fun, vibrant, and modern speakeasy. We also tried Gatsby's nearby and loved both. Each offers a distinct, excellent experience. Thick as Thieves feels more contemporary, while Gatsby's provides a traditional speakeasy vibe. Both deliver exceptional service and whimsical fun. Highly recommend trying both! read more

This was a fun experience, from the secret entry to the unique drinks. The service was spectacular, properly attentive, but not intrusive. The drinks were delicious, promptly delivered, but expensive and they use clear ice which is a bonus. The ambiance just right and noise level was ok but it was early on a weekday evening and the bar was not very full. $190 for 4 people, 2 rounds of drinks, 1 charcuterie board and tip. read more

5 stars 100%!!! You wouldn't know it's there unless you knew it was there. The craft cocktails are superb. The Poppy Don't Peach bourbon cocktail with a touch of Prosecco is refreshing. The ambiance has an elegant retro aesthetic, feels like you're being teleported back to the 50s. The music was a mixture of 90s rap- R&B, which is what I grew up listening to. The servers were very informative and attentive, they definitely work together to deliver great customer service. read more

Great little speakeasy. Fun entry experience, cozy ambiance, and SOLID drink menu. All that, and they're not overly pretentious. We were out and about with no plans to pop into a nicer cocktail bar, but the fact that I was rocking flip-flops and a hat was no big deal. I ended up getting The Pastry War, and now I'm on a mission to recreate it at home. My wife got a NA mocktail made with hibiscus, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The only downside is the cost, but it's not far off from other cocktail establishments. Just know what you're getting into. Will we be back? For. Sure. read more

I haven't been to many bars downtown yet, but I think it's still safe to say that Thick As Thieves will remain one of my favorites. Not only is the atmosphere absolutely killer and the service excellent, but the drinks were the best I've had. The Pan Dan is a must try! Hard to find, but amazing once you get in. High quality cocktails you'd find in any major city. The black light menu was a nice touch

Thick as thieves is such a fun spot. It really does give speakeasy vibes. Upon entering you have to use an old fashioned phone to call the restaurant and let them know you've arrived. You enter through a secret door and once you do you're transported back to prohibition era. The ambiance is immaculate as well as the drink menu. They have a variety of fun drinks and some on their secret menu as well (make sure you ask for a blue light). All of the drinks are served in their own unique way, which adds to the experience. The amaro float might be the best drink I've had! read more

We legitimately stumbled upon this bar looking for another one, and I am so glad. The whole set up is so cool, and the menu surprise was next level! I think Boise is worth coming to visit just to come in here. 5 star experience all the way!! read more

Love love love this place! FYI to y'all that don't understand speak easies... please don't complain about not getting in without a rez. This place is an EXPERIENCE. Go. Just go. I'm from a pretty alcohol-centric place but this spot amazes me every time. The sophistication that goes into the drinks, concept, service and vibe are out of this world. Excellent service and drinks. So fun. The drinks were made with such skill. I loved the atmosphere.

Amazing atmosphere and cocktails. Must visit should you be in Boise. Solid Manhattans.

Girlfriend and sister surprised me with a reservation here for pre birthday dinner cocktails. The entrance is discreet and unassuming as you'd hope for a "speakeasy." Once inside, the lighting and decor give off the prohibition era vibes. Drinks were great, each coming in their own unique glass, and no more expensive than other fancy cocktail bars downtown. Lastly, I thought that given the limited seating and requirement to make a reservation we would at some point be rushed to either close out or order more drinks, but that was not the case and our waitress was very nice and timely. Great spot to start your evening off with a well made cocktail - will be back! read more

I came here with my husband as part of our anniversary weekend. The experience is a lot of fun. You enter through an inconspicuous door and dial the rotary phone-something I embarrassingly had to have my husband do for me. They'll ask if you have a reservation and come through the mirrored wall to get you. The ambiance is very romantic and the venue is mostly candlelit. The decor is an elegant mix of traditional 1920s speakeasy style and elevated modern bar style. Our reservation placed us in a love seat in front of the fireplace filled with candles. We were given menus-beautifully designed and started with the Birds of a Feather and the Poppy don't Peach. Birds of a feather was spicy, boozy, and warm. Poppy don't peach is very refreshing and fruity despite the amount of alcohol in it. For our second round I switched to the Poppy don't Peach and my husband got an espresso martini, one of the best either of us has ever had. Thick as Thieves is pricier at around $14-$17 per cocktail but it's a fun, romantic experience with well crafted cocktails. Perfect for a special occasion or nice date night. You're definitely paying for good service (all recommendations were perfect and staff is attentive) and the atmosphere as well as your actual drink. read more

Excellent date spot. Great drinks and ambiance, but there needs to be a dress code. I wouldn't say I like getting dressed up to have $15 drinks at a swanky bar, only to sit next to a guy in cargo shorts and mandles. Secondly, the choice of music was terrible, pop garbage and way too loud. Maybe consider Deep House, Frank Sinatra, Acid Jaz, Miles Davis. read more
