I've never heard of Therapy until my friend from Mountain View told me about it, and we decided to take a look before closing. Honestly, I wasn't looking to buy anything for tonight, but everything in here was so cute and very boho! It's definitely like another Urban Outfitters to me, but more on the pricier side. They carry a lot of popular brands, one including Free People. All of the clothes on the rack were super cute that I couldn't resist trying them on, and I ended up buying the two tops that I tried on because I knew I would regret it if I left empty-handed. Nick Nack, oh, Nick Nacks, I think I love you. This place is heaven for all you nick nack shopping lovers. As stated in the other reviews, this is a very San Francisco esq store. I've heard it compared to Wishbones a lot. Although, I've never been to Wishbones. I can't make that assumption. It has a lot of neat "chatchky" items and vintage looking new clothes. When we came in this time there were some retro looking couches that were for sale. I think its interesting stuff, but can't say I'm inclined to buy. read more

This store opened just a short while before I moved out of Mountain View. But in that short span of time, I became a fan. Downtown MV, which needs another restaurant like I need another purse, desperately needed a cool retail shop--and that's what it got when Therapy moved in. Therapy is a place with a contemporary vibe and a little of everything: cards, furniture, home accent pieces, gag gifts, soaps, candles, men's and women's clothing, accessories, and shoes. It's an eclectic mix, but it works. Yesterday I was in the area for lunch with friends, and I needed some Therapy afterwards. There were really cute summery options in women's clothing, all at reasonable prices. Think Anthropologie at less than half the price. I tried on several dresses, and narrowed it down to one for less than $60. It's a black silk-blend keyhole neckline dress, classy yet summery. And the salesgirls were very helpful in finding the right size and even helping me to button up the back. Unfortunately I was a little short on time, so I wasn't able to try on everything I wanted to. But I heard they opened a shop in my new neighborhood. I guess I know where I'm going this afternoon! I had to bump this up to a full 4 stars. The customer service I get every time I come here is phenomenal. Truly. I'd place Therapy in between Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie in terms of price. Males! They've got items for you too. Same style and feel....clothes, jewelry, knick knacks, some furniture, a few bags and shoe selection, unique greeting cards, CUTE mugs, books, OH and they carry a few NIXON watches and DOGEARED necklaces. Most clothes cost more than I am willing to pay for, for the material and brand BUT every once in awhile I do find something in the sale section ;) I'm petite and many of their items fit too big on me. There's really no reason to take any stars away from this place. It's spacious, I've never seen it overcrowded. It carries brands like Obey, Original Penguin, and Upperplayground, but they don't try too hard like other stores that carry similar brands. I think that's the appeal to me. They don't try too hard (unlike the try-too-hard-to-be-hipsters at Urban Outfitters). The furniture and home decorating selection is pretty sick, and they carry a lot of Upperplayground's artists' works here. The employees enjoy working here. I mean, not like they told me personally, but you can tell. They're friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. They smile. And that makes me smile. I've been to this store in the Mission so I was super excited when they opened one in Mountain View by my work. My work BFF Wing and I were having lunch on Castro when I passed by it the sign. I yelled out, "THERAPY!!!" Wing wondered what caused me to squeal like a little girl so I forced him to go in with me. There's super funky clothes for both guys and girls and really cool knick knacks. Wing got an car air freshener that said "Fuzzy Dice" Around Christmas time, my friend Evy and I were having ramen at Ryowa and thinking about what to do next. Suddenly a bright idea popped in my head. Me: "Have you been to therapy?! (You couldn't contain the excitement in my voice.) Evy: Uhhh... no. Am I supposed to be in Therapy? I took her down the street into the store and then it all made sense. The sales girl comes up to us and tells us that everything in the store is 40% off. No! Now I'll buy things for sure! Not good after Christmas. I walked out of the store with an oh so cute floral print tube dress even though it was the dead of winter and a cute v-neck , 3/4 sleeve, purple thermal... with puffy sleeves. Yeay, I love Therapy. Make sure you drop by if you're on Castro st. at Mountain view! It's a cute store that carries a variety of fun and interesting items (from cards, wine stoppers, jewelry to cute shoes, clothes, and bags). Even though I only buy stuff from here once in a while, it's always fun to walk in and just check out the store. It's the kind of store that you can shop with your bf and not feel too guilty because they have stuff for both boys and girls (except the clothing part is more one sided- mostly girl's stuff). Anyhow, I was looking for a more sophisticated bag to bring to work and found a good sized bag for a very reasonable price and it looks almost like a designer bag. As mentioned before, they have a variety of stuff so I would give this place a try if you're looking for a gift for someone or just stuff for yourself. The price of their items also varies depending on where they got their merchandise from so I'd say it's pretty fair and you can pick and choose what you want to spend money on. Super friendly associates and super cute and cool items. They sell things to knick knacks in the front, to clothes and shoes. They are probably a boutique, because you cannot find this stuff at the mall, which I love because I leave with one of a kid items! I love their jewelry and sweaters. They can be pricey but depending on the quality you can leave with a pricey item that will last you for a long time. Awesome. It was what Urban Outfitters used to be before it went all megamultinational. They have a variety of good and offensive randomness including about 50 varieties or insulting / amusing chewing gum with plenty of jokes that would be banned even from an Abercrombie T-shirt. Cute! Trendy! Cute! Awwww, allow me this one time to become totally frou frou (much to the chagrin of my male friends who were with me here) but all of a sudden, I was filled with a sudden urge to touch certain materials, pick up cute little knick knacks from the display tables and even see a pink mini Domo-kun. Pink! The interior reminded me of an Anthropologie store but with slightly cheaper prices and garb could be rated as hand-me-down. I did, however, find a small black patent clutch purse, which my friend deemed classy, for $30. The staff person at the counter was really sweet as she was remarking on my DL picture. She mentioned I had a great smile, so there was one positive thing about that. I may be back to check out other wares when time permits. Now it was time to go get some dinner! read more

This is a review to celebrate Yelp! Yelp lets customers give honest feedback and businesses can use it to cater to their customers as well as allows other customers to know what truly happened. In this particular experience, all of us involved, have used yelp as the perfect medium to communicate and cater to each others needs. The last review for this store, helped therapy understand what I needed, and I appreciate that within 6 hours from the time I wrote my review, people from the store called me to tell me there was a mistake and that they will find the dress for me and will call me as soon as they receive it. Finally, they found one in the Berkeley store and called me to inform how long it will take them to ship it here to mountain view. Finally, the dress arrived, it fit me great and I bought it. I loved that therapy responded in the right spirit and David,Brittany and others did the right thing by me. I continued shopping and picked up a beautiful bauble jewellery stand and a nice sweater. Their sale is on, go check it. It takes courage to admit one's mistake and mediums like yelp are helping businesses get closer to their customers. I am glad all of us are happy at the end of it! Holy cow!!!! I knew from simply looking at the store front across the street I would love this place. It didn't disappoint at all when I went in! This place is a treasure trove of home decorations, jewelry, shoes (boots, oxfords, flats, etc), home/office, CLOTHES that you may normally find at anthro/urban except NOT because this place is 4348x better than those two in price and selection! The style of the clothes here is indeed reminiscent of the anthro/urban boho chic stuff, though. One thing that really deserves 5+ stars: the customer service. I've never felt so welcomed into a store before and the ladies were nice enough to give me the shoe name and tell me to do some research online at other places when they didn't have my size. As a non-fashion-sensitive guy I didn't even notice at first this place sold clothes, but they've got a very unique collection of trinkets... really neat stuff! - Stuffed animals like Giant Microbes (e.g. kissing disease, the common cold) - Chic furniture and hip wall decorations (there was a really neat retro print I was tempted to get) - Unique books, picture frames, magnets, books, candles, greeting cards, and bags - Apparently there are clothes, purses, jewelry, and shoes here too. - Great, helpful staff. - Really random name. Seriously, that's why I haven't walked in here til now. Pricey, but impossible to walk in and not fall in love with an item or two, even if you're not a clothes person. I am usually on Castro at night for pho, and largely miss the cute stores open hours. Luckily for me I went for lunch instead, and finally visited this store. I don't know how such a small spca can play host to so many trinkets of perfection, but it does! I must have uttered the words cute, perfect, to die, etc.... at least one hundred times. I love this place! One of the cutest boutiques in Santa Clara that sells an eclectic mix of clothes, shoes, bags, toys, cards, and accessories for the urban male and female trendster. It's what Urban Outfitters wishes it could be in another life. I go here for my regular dose of visual browsing, chatting it up with the friendly staff, and gleaning some interior decor inspiration. The last time I was there, I contemplated getting some Nouvelle Images wall stickers. Instead, I bought a bundle of "quotable cards" to splash all over my room (they have an entire rack dedicated to those cards). Some items make me giggle, like the vintage inspired magnets with smiling 50s suburban housewives quoting: "One more cup of espresso and I can fly!" "I love my ungrateful rotten children" "Oh honey! You must be mistaking me for the maid that we don't have!" I look forward to getting me some more Therapy. read more

I've always thought that the retailers on Castro were CRAZY to shut their doors before the dinner crowd started milling about. Also, the South Bay needs more shops geared towards hipsters and wannabe hipsters. Well, Therapy hit both of these things right on the head. Actually, I think there's a little vintage shop on one of the side streets that also tries to do the same, but it's just not prominent enough. Hopefully this will lead to more interesting retail along Castro -- there's certainly plenty of empty storefronts! If the retailers are smart, they won't even bother opening in the day time. Take advantage of the restaurant traffic! I must say, though... please, no more hippie/newage shops downtown. I appreciate a place to buy yoga supplies and crystals, but I think we've hit our quota. We have also hit our quota for chinese carvings, but those guys are only open during the day when I'm at work. read more

I can't even tell you how much I love this store. It's amazing. I've bought so many cute stuffed animals for my 2 year old daughter that she will have forever. I am a bit obsessed. I have to buy every new animal I see. Makes K. Reese and I happy, not so much my husband, but I don't care because she loves them! ;) They also have incredibly cute, unique clothing. This place is really incredible, with in general, less expensive brands for sale than those at Urban (Lux, Free People, and Seven For All Mankind at Urban are all on the pricier side). Clothing-wise, the store has items that are casual but more sophisticated. I absolutely love their selection of knit tops and cute (but not cutsy) summer dresses. Therapy also has hilarious cards and quirky trinkets and home items. I can spend hours in this store, just browsing around! Edit - I'm going to admit that the selection here is a little hit-or-miss. happiness! therapy came down from SF! kitsch to the max, much needed to combat the suburban squeeze down here. when i walked by during lunch hour i saw the store name in the window and was like..."could it be? one of my favorite stores from the mission right here in my neighborhood?"...but i quashed the hope and didn't bother going in. then, when we found ryowa so crowded we didn't want to try getting on the waiting list, we ended up browsing on castro and i found that this was indeed the same Therapy! and they're open really late (till 10 or 11) so you can shop after dinner! prices are high, so approach with the right mentality (i.e., not bargain hunting). go here for delightful/clever/unique gifts, or treat yourself to a splurge if you feel like you need a boost of personality in your life. you'll move up the social ladder in either case. read more

Grab a bite to eat then head over... better yet, head here first so your bellies aren't exploding from the deliciousness that Castro Street has to offer. I am bias because I literally live down the street from Therapy---and I LOVE IT. Price? Pricey, yes-- but these are brand names you are pay for so what do you expect. They have neat trinkets and a whole bunch of stuff you don't really need but want and will probably pay for because it's all so cool. (example: Unidentified frozen objects, aka plastic ice cubes...knock knock notes, aka another way of telling people they're being a douche). Service? I was just here last night, and I was very impressed. The sales lady was on the phone with a customer who was looking for a gold dress. The sale lady physically looked through the entire collection and described each dress that might suit the customers liking. Also helped her with sizing, tones, etc. I was astonished. Therapy has done it again! A few days ago I bought a lovely, warm OBEY jacket from the Campbell location. It wasn't until I got home and tried it on again did I notice a small rip in the front part of the jacket. Feeling quite embarrassed, I drove to the Mountain View location (it's closer to my house) in hopes that they would not only have my size, but also be willing to exchange my 3 hour old purchase. Luckily, they DID have my size and not only were they more than happy to do an even exchange, but the girl helping me seemed so appreciative that she gave me a coupon for 15% off my next purchase! I'm sad I forgot to ask what her name was, but she was extremely nice and must have noticed I was a faithful Therapy customer (as I was wearing a jacket and using a wallet that I bought from that very store) so the coupon was definitely icing on the cake. I don't buy many things from this store, but the workers are always nice and friendly. My friend was eying a jacket, but they didn't have his size. The worker quickly informed us that they could ship the jacket from their San Mateo location for free. The one bag I bought developed a hole in it after about a month. Came here for the first time today! I usually go to the one in Campbell but after not being able to find anything, I decided to check this one out even though it was further. I came in and looked at everything! I wanted a dress to wear to Vegas but I thought I couldn't find it there. I asked the girl working where I would be able to find party dresses in the area since I already looked through Great Mall, Oakridge and Valleyfair. She mentioned a boutique across the street but also said there might be some hiding around the store. Another girl picked up a dress and had me try it on, and while I was in the room the first girl tossed in more for me to try. One of the girls even gave me a pair of heels to try on with the dress to see the whole outfit. I left with dress #1 and a gift for one my girlfriends and I am super happy. Both of these girls demonstrated great customer service that you don't see elsewhere. The apparel here is unique and the quality is definitely better than Forever21 or Charlotte Russe. This urban-chic store is the mini-version of Urban Outfitters. Fun books, artsy cards, few nick-knacks for the crib and of course a good selection of urban clothes and accessories for both men and women but mainly for the young and trendy. The Mountain View location now sells a small selection furniture but the SF store has a larger selection but parking is better in MV. Their Burlingame location has a smaller mens selection and the store is more cramped. Also if you are an employee for any business on Castro St., Therapy will throw in a 10% discount. read more

This is my favourite location out of all Therapy stores. Yes, that's right, it's a chain; I was actually surprised when I found out too! And the absolute great part is that this isn't like Forever21 or Charlotte Russe, where you can spot literally millions of other women wearing the same outfit or carrying the same tote; nope, it's a downplayed boutique where you can buy something in confidence that you won't bump into at least five other ladies with the same things as you. The downside to this chain is that they don't update their website often, nor do they have an online store. You can follow them on Facebook for great deals and big sales though. This place is great for GIFTS! There are all sorts of knick knacks, toys, accessories, decor, books, stationary, etcetera that you can give to your friends and family. There are things with offensive messages to them, but I'm sure that they are only intended for the fun and the laughs. I love to shop in the shoe and clothing sections; the styles are very chic and also vintage. Though most of the clothes are on the pricey side, the dresses they have for special occasions are such great steals. I've also bought many pairs of earrings here, also quite pricey.
