I was charged a fee that I could only partially pay due to a missed telehealth appointment. As a result the office refused to work with me unless I paid in full. Could not make an appointment and refused to refill my prescriptions. Was in a panic for a week worrying about withdrawal from a prescription they wouldn't fill. Wish I could give a negative star review. Had my daughter here years ago after finding out she was doing drugs. They put a hefty diagnosis on her and pushed mood stabilizers. We payed out the wazoo- to the tune of thousands of dollars for intensive therapy only to find out she was coming up positive on her drug tests and they neither told me (her mother) or did anything about it. She just kept doing drugs while taking their medications and going to therapy 3 times a week for several hours. No one wanted to give me any info and the doctor that prescribed the meds wouldn't meet with me. We had a young special needs kid in the home and another child and should've been told what was happening- we could've found alternate help... but then how would they rake in all the money. Horrible. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Dear Management, I wanted to share some feedback with you in regards to the lack of customer service my husband and I received from Therapeutic Solutions. Due to how this situation was handled, my husband has decided not to return to your practice. My husband had an appointment schedule to see Dr. Itner. Due to an ongoing health issue that causes debilitating pain making it difficult for him to drive, he had to cancel his appointment. He cancelled 4 hours past the 24 hour cancellation period. The receptionist was inflexible in allowing to extend a one-time courtesy waiver due to the circumstance. Instead, he let him know that there would be a $125 no show fee. I called the next day and left a message to speak with management regarding this issue. I never received a call back. As a manager myself, I am appalled by the lack of service we received. It is apparent through your lack of action that this practice is not interested in retaining patients and is only interested in making a profit. Please enjoy our payment of $125 which settles our balance indefinitely with your practice. You have lost a patient. Hope it was worth it! read more

I am beyond shocked by the lack of concern for patient's mental health. Our daughter has been a patient here for many years. We've never been overly impressed. The doctor spends 5 minutes asks our daughter how she's doing and charges us $150. We've never felt the doctor was ever concerned about helping improve our daughter's severe anxiety, he simply provides a slip of paper for a prescription. Recently she's been doing well and we haven't been in to see the doctor. We were not informed her medication was dependent on paying the doctor $150.00 every three months to spend 5 minutes with her. This week we attempted to refill her medication and we discovered she was out of refills. We called to make an appointment and we were told we were now considered new patients. It has been 9 months. We refilled her prescription last month with no issue or warning. We called to ask if they could provide us with a weeks worth of pills until we can get an appointment and they declined. They told us to beg the pharmacy for pills, which is what we had already done for the three pills the graciously offered us. When we pleaded that our daughter would go through withdrawls from not having her antidepressants, they told us to take her to the ER. We have NEVER encountered such a cold heartless organization. I am a former employee of this business and for eight long, awful months I worked at this facility and the owner has zero respect for women and is so detached, arrogant and money-hungry it was absolutely disgusting. I highly recommend any and all 92,000 plus residents of Chico, CA to stay away from this practice at all cost. There are psychiatrists and therapists elsewhere as there is no bed-side manner with upper-management and they run their office on a business model with zero empathy or regard for the human soul . STAY AWAY . When I called a few lawyers afterwards seeking legal advice , I couldn't find an attorney in town as they were "all booked up" . Why? I enlisted his services for mild depression and he immediately recommend ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) a service not covered by my insurance let alone any insurance! The cost would be in the thousands! Luckily, I was able to see through his manipulation and found a "real" doctor who was able to prescribe me Lexapro; coupled with therapy had been a life saver! It pains me to write this, but I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with Therapeutic Solutions. I have been receiving services from Therapeutic Solutions for several years. I have bipolar disorder and am a suicide attempt survivor. I came to Therapeutic Solutions and my life was really turned around. I was very happy with Dr. Ittner and was confident with my medication plan. Everything changed a few months ago. I had pneumonia and had to go to a clinic in the evening after business hours. My doctor diagnosed me with pneumonia and told me that I was contagious and I had to stay home. I called first thing in the morning and explained my situation and cancelled my appointment. Life happens. I understand their policy on charging for no shows, but this was an emergency situation and nothing could be done. Policies aren't written in stone. I'm sure the people at Therapeutic Solutions have children. How would they feel if their child was sick and they were charged 120 for a missed appointment? It's not like I went golfing and just didn't feel like showing up. This was something that came up because that's life. They didn't even tell me I owed anything. I Then had another appointment. I cancelled two days before my appointment, well within the time that was required. I was charged for this appointment. They said they had no record in their system of me calling. Well, it's in my phone call history. My wife spoke to the front desk. I guess that's just a glitch. Not the first mistake and not the last. They then cancelled my services. I filed an appeal and didn't hear anything for a month. I came back and they had no record of me filing an appeal. I filed another appeal and didn't hear anything back for another month. Diane Schumacher spoke to me on the phone and took more details about the case. I got a voice mail a few days later saying my appeal was denied and she never explained why. I then called her boss Megan Philips. We played phone tag for a while and then she said she was going on vacation for a week. I didn't hear anything from her for A MONTH. This was a week vacation and then a MONTH. I left several voicemails and she never called me back. I even left calls with Dr Abouesh the owner of Therapeutic Solutions and never heard anything back. Megan (She's the Director of Operations) she called me and was unbelievably cold and indifferent to me. I have never had anyone care so little about my situation. She literally said that we almost never approve appeals and that it's more to double check the system. What? That's saying that the appeals process is futile and there isn't any recourse on bad decisions. Their word is law and their decisions are final. This has been the worst medical situation I have encountered. Therapeutic Solutions is attempting to extort me. I have to pay almost 300 dollars to see my doctor. There are no psychiatrists in Chico except the county and Indian Health. I have to go to Sacramento to see a psychiatrist. 90 minutes away to see a doctor. I only have a few days left of my medication and I'll probably end up in another manic episode. I may even attempt to kill myself like last time I was in a manic episode. Do you think Therapeutic Solutions care? No. They don't care about patients. They just care about the money. They are doing this to vulnerable people during Covid. I was in the teen therapy group a few years ago and it was completely pointless. we were taught absolutely no skills on how to deal with our mental health, it was just a waste of time and money. my parents and i are now thousands of dollars in debt for absolutely nothing. as part of the group therapy, you are supposed to see a psychiatrist once a week as well. over the course of the 3 months i attended, i saw the psychiatrist twice for 5 minutes. the "therapists" were all rude and dismissive. one of them would talk more about my sister than me (she wasn't attending and i brought her up once and that's all she wanted to focus on). unfortunately, this is one of the few mental health facilities in town which they profit off of. they figure they can do less than the bare minimum because where else are you gonna go? absolutely pointless. read more

Unprofessional, there's no one on one therapy offered despite what they claim. They offer initial evaluations and group sessions. My first scheduled appt with a psychiatrist resulted in the doctor not figuring out how to use zoom and the appt never happened. Got rescheduled with a different "doctor" that did my initial evaluation and prescribed medication. When I called in to rebook a follow up THERAPY session with what was misrepresented as a psychiatrist , the zoom "session" lasted a few minutes at which time I was told that provider did not in fact do therapy and was only on the call to touch bases about my new medication (because she didn't remember I just did that on the phone two days prior when I called her because their office called in the wrong medication for me at my pharmacy!) No one including her ever mentioned she was only doing the initial evaluation and did not do additional therapy sessions! I told her multiple times during the first appt "we can talk about this subject more on my next session" which she smiled and nodded her head yes. She even asked me at the first appt if I felt comfortable talking with her and would like to continue later. Anyways, The second zoom appt was pointless and not what I told them I was scheduling for but they refused to waive the charge and billed my insurance $150, $81 which was my portion for literally a 5 minute "appt" . "Services were rendered." No, the service I booked for was NOT rendered. Oh , and then I found out that provider is not even a psychiatrist but a nurse practitioner! I said I needed an appt which a psychiatrist and even referred to her as DOCTOR which is illegal since she is not a doctor! read more

This place literally saved my life. I cannot understand all of the negative feedback it has received. It seems to me that people don't fully comprehend how other programs (especially those in government-run facilities in states outside of California) really take away the agency of the patient. I felt like I was in the driver's seat regarding my care from the moment of my intake to the minute of my discharge. Personally, I received nothing but the highest ethic of care and respect. The number of comments complaining about the urine testing seem especially misplaced to me. Is it inconvenient? Of course, especially if you have never had an issue with substance abuse. However, my background includes working in medical offices, so please understand that the urine testing is for more than just the detection of drugs; it's also vital to detecting anomalies within your body that could be missed otherwise. That background in medical offices has also taught me to understand that mistakes happen, and even the best offices still need patients to advocate for themselves. That's the reality of living in the society that runs managed healthcare the way it does. That's not to excuse rude or invalidating providers (and, in my experience, psychiatrists tend to be particularly short on bedside manners) but I think that's a far more legitimate issue to hold against this place, even as I have never experienced it myself. Without a doubt, the office isn't perfect--but no office is. And when it comes to mental illness, which is particularly unique to every individual, it's virtually impossible to expect any program or facility to be the solution for every potential client. For me, it worked, and I will always be grateful for that. read more

They were NOT clear about what we would be charged for group counseling services, even after we specifically asked about it and said we would not use the services if insurance doesn't cover.. Our ability to get the care we need is limited, therefore Theraputic Solutions has always been a constant and reliable source. I have received care when there 2 locations until now. The concern for my overall health with my condition is paramount. With Emory/DeKalb Medical/Wesley Woods only caring for arm lymphedema from breast cancer, I am happy to know Theraputic Solutions continues to provide our overall, inclusive and unique care. If I could do a negative star I would ! if you go in and need a payment plan they say of course .. yes and they are very interested in you and say they will help. Lets be real all they care about is getting you to sign a contract. for treatment. if you don't like the program and want to leave too bad they bill you for the program entirely. they then give you a payment program they never plan for you to keep . if you miss your payment by a day they call once and the whisk you off to a collection agency with in a week . We made over 6 payments and on ONE we were a week late. ! With out any hesitation they send you to a collector. We called and they said too bad they would not remove it from collections. ... They never call to check on you they put you in a room with just about anyone. and honestly it is a big waste of time. you will do better to go to AA at least they have separate meetings for separate issues. instead of being clumped together .. any psychiatrist can give you medicine to curve your addiction you don not need to go here ! and as dumb as they are on all of this .. they then send you to collections if you miss one call to pay if you run late one month. I call this DUMB because they pay a collections agency 25% of what they would of got .. if they only gave you one more call .. and waited till you called or sent you a letter first if the call did not work. Next is the issue they say you get 18 month payments... but all your bills show the total due. and each month it says you are another 30 days late while you are making your payments. The statements are incorrect and they say ... oh well that's our billing system if you call us we will explain it to you. When you call and select billing it always goes to voicemail. the only way to talk to anyone is to select new customer... of course if they answer your call in billing they may have to take a payment and then not be able to send you to collections. what a pooly run organization.. and if you want to speak to a true adult, not just someone over 18 then forget it... seems the " managers are all in their 20s and of course at 20 they " know it all" Not in my worst dreams would I refer anyone here. there you have been warned ... go to AA and see how the members there get help with out taking a dime out of their pocket.. I have thought about picketing outside of their fancy buildings. THEY ARE ONLY IN THIS BUSINESS TO MAKE BIG CASH and live lavishly while you pay thousands after realizing you've been scammed. My bill is currently with collections. I paid $1200 for the drug tests I took over the 3-4 weeks of classes I attended. Those bills weRE seperate, from quest diagnostics. Complete surprise to me, no disclosure of those bills. My insurance company paid therapeutic solutions 6,000$. Then, they billed me another $6,000!!!!!!!! For real. Never was I given a single medication. Counselors make a " therapy" appt for you. It is literally picking a few care plans from a computer program and plugging them in. Never spent more than 10 min talking to mine. Attended between 10-12 group therapy classes. Then, they said my insurance was done paying, so that's my last day. There really aren't many outpatient options around here. That is why RELAPSE SOLUTIONS, as I call them, is still in business. DO NOT TRUST THEM TO CARE ABOUT YOU HERE! I have a long history of bipolar I disorder. I was new in town and decided to call this clinic to establish medication management services. Fortunately I have been quite stable on the same meds for several years. Because I have good insurance I could have gone anywhere but the supply of doctors in this town leaves much to be desired. I was also hoping to get set up with some therapy as I had recently experienced a traumatic loss. My wait to get an appt with Dr L was long but I know that's common in mental health clinics. In their favor is that I arrived 15 minutes late because there had been a.major accident on the street and the way was blocked. The Dr still agreed to see me. My initial impression of Dr Lofty was that he seemed ok and soft spoken. As the appt continued I grew increasingly disappointed with his style. He made no eye contact and appeared disinterested. He asked me a few questions but it felt as though he wasn't really listening. I told him about the trauma and loss I had just experienced. He had no reaction and continued to look down at my paperwork. It seemed obvious that it was the first time he had bothered to take a look at it. Not good. I listed my meds and explained that I had been stable on them for years. Right away he informed me about all the changes he was going to make. Why would he do that after seeing me only one time where I told him I was stable? He refused to prescribe the medication I have taken for years for ADD. I also take it for narcolepsy. My primary care doctor had been prescribing them for years. There were other changes he wanted to make as well that I feared would potentially destabilize me, especially after the stuff I had just been through. So, he refilled all my other medicines with no problems. He gave me refills on them too which I very much appreciated. Basically, I was concerned about the doctors dismissive, judgemental and disinterested presentation. I felt like he was annoyed by my presence and that he did NOT want to be there. It's ok if someone is having a bad day but by reading the other reviews I can see I am not alone in what I experienced. It seems like he is burned out and doesn't like his job ( I wonder if he ever did ). They had me make another appointment for a few months later and I thought that was a long time considering the fact that I had just started out there. Later I cancelled the appointment and I have had to go back to having my primary care prescribe my meds. With my history I really need a psychiatrist and unfortunately my search continues with no luck. So no, I don't really recommend this particular Dr. I have no opinion about other staff as I did not interact with them. read more

Arrived in the office and was told my son hadn't paid his last month's payment , so he was sent to collection and can't see the doctor until his payments are caught up... gee, could have told me when I confirmed the appt. And they know to contact me with any problems as they did once in the past and they didn't contact me. This just confirmed my growing suspicions that this is just a money mill. When I traveled back early from my vacation to make my appointment I was told that my appointment was canceled. They said that they had supposedly left a message about a month previous that I needed to call to change that appointment. I never received that message. If I had received it why didn't they check to make sure I had got the message? They said that they were too busy to see if people received their messages. Oh and by the way if you don't show up to your appointment they charge you $150. Yet they didn't show up to mine. I also received a text saying that they will now be taking a credit card from you in case you don't show up to an appointment, which I have never not shown up. Also why would they need a credit card on file when my insurance always pays? Well needless to say I called to cancel any future appointments with them. They are happy to lose clientele. After waiting months for an appointment, you may find out that they've somehow listed your depression as a drug addiction, attempted to bill you for drug testing you don't need, and set you up with a therapist who doesn't even handle depression cases. You wait a few more months, only to find out that they seem to have forgotten about you. Once you give up on them and find another office that will actually help you, you'll spend the next year getting bills with incorrect charges, double charges, charges they've agreed to remove, and charges that you've already paid. At some point, they'll probably threaten to send you to collections. As best as I can tell, the business is either totally negligent or outright malicious. This place is just terrible. And Karim Lotfy seems to be uncaring, irresponsible and almost negligent. The physicians there are working from a business model and it feels like it. They also relate in this lofty, irritating way. I have liked a couple of practitioners but one left and then the other. The latest one I have seen, Karim Lotfy, is the worst. He has failed to follow through with his agreements with me, when contacted multiple times by office staff, he ignored them. When it finally become impossible for him to continue to ignore me, he made a brief and vague apology about not having written our agreement in his notes. He rectified the problem 9 days after the deadline expired. This had consequences for me. Most recently he discontinued one of my meds without speaking to me. I learned from the pharmacy. I just saw him! I am not drug seeking, this is not one of those sorts of drugs. If he had asked me, I would have said I thought it was helpful. He didn't! Seriously, terrible. read more

I had an appointment in November and was put on a medication trial for two months. I was under the impression that my next appointment was going to be January 9 of 2020. Before January 9 came, I received a no-show fee of $125. I called them explaining that I was never informed of this appointment nor did I receive a courtesy phone call reminding me. The woman on the phone was extremely nasty and unsympathetic! Her words and I quote, "you missed the appointment, you need to pay! It's called a courtesy call! It doesn't mean we have to call you and remind you of your responsibility!" I asked her for a grievance form to send in. I filled it out, sent it in and received a letter stating; "thank you for taking the time to fill out your grievance and express your concerns related to this fee. Our team has reviewed your request and will be upholding the no-show policy for your missed visit. Your no-show policy will not be waived. Please make the payment as soon as possible. They drew blood in their office by a staff member and it was not covered by my medical insurance since they are not a medical office and they charged me over $1,200 for a standard blood draw that would have been paid in full if they sent me to an outside local lab. I now have a collection on my credit report and it has ruined which was once my perfect credit. I am still in shock after my appointment today. I need to see a psychiatrist for a letter of recommendation for my insurance to cover surgery. They made me come in at 8am for a drug and alcohol screening (urine AND blood), which they didn't even do until quarter to 9. At 9 I saw the psychiatrist (who is also the owner). The first thing he tells me is he refuses to work with me because I am a part of the LGBT community and it is against his morals, despite the fact that he specifically lists online that he has services for the LGBT community (and I asked him and he confirmed that yes, he does). I can only assume that he is doing conversion therapy (which is TOTALLY unethical and you can get your medical license revoked for doing). I walked away feeling like dirt. Stonewall plans on putting them on their blacklist of doctors in Chico. I would be scared to go here if I had a mental illness. read more

Don't pee in a cup at this place! Therapeutic Solutions charged my insurance company $2093 for urine tests to test the patient for drugs at our first appointment. One test was $300 and there were a total of 21 tests. What a waste of money. In addition, they charged my insurance $350 for the first appointment with a doctor. I have to agree with other reviewers who say this doctor's bedside manner is atrocious. Even his most basic of social skills are just weird. Now I'm on the hook for the co-pay, and our visit there was completely useless. They did not help the patient at all. Stay away. read more

This is the very best, most effective anxiety and depression program that I have found in northern California. The staff is extremely compassionate, knowledgeable, and flexible to the specific needs of each patient. Classes are small- under 10 participants. Substance abuse education & issues are in a separate program, so this doesnt have an opportunity to negatively affect non-users. They care about each individual and the program works! It doesnt guarantee success, but it definitely provides the most effective tools for doing so. read more

Absolutely, the worst place to go for help. The particular doctor that I saw made a concerted effort to not diagnose me with anything, but was still willing to give me pills to treat said disorder. They jump to very serious and life changing conclusions, never answer your questions (As a matter of fact, they negate your questions), and they make it very clear that they do not know what they are doing and don't really care about your well being. This is a very nice facility where I took my son for multiple visits for his prescription meds -- clean, nice decor. Front desk staff are literate and very friendly. The doctor was detached and formal, though cordial in his own way. During the course of our visits, he made some very keen insights to help understand what was going on with my son, so I could tell he was good at diagnosis. Ok, true, his interpersonal skills weren't exceptional, but as I said, this is to be expected of highly trained doctors in this field! There was a drug screening urine test for my son at the outset, which the insurance mostly paid for, and although my son didn't need this, because he's never used before, I can understand that the doctor needs to rule out recreational drug use as a cause of patient problems before moving on to diagnosis -- otherwise, he could be diagnosing something caused 100% by substance use and not treating the real problem. The people giving one star for this important service have their heads screwed on wrong! People lie but the urine test doesn't, so I think it was reasonable to undertake this part of the screening in order to access other services.
