It seems to me that people don't fully comprehend how other programs (especially those in government-run facilities in states outside of California) really take away the agency of the patient. I felt like I was in the driver's seat regarding my care from the moment of my intake to the minute of my discharge. Personally, I received nothing but the highest ethic of care and respect. The number of comments complaining about the urine testing seem especially misplaced to me. Is it inconvenient? Of course, especially if you have never had an issue with substance abuse. However, my background includes working in medical offices, so please understand that the urine testing is for more than just the detection of drugs; it's also vital to detecting anomalies within your body that could be missed otherwise. That background in medical offices has also taught me to understand that mistakes happen, and even the best offices still need patients to advocate for themselves. That's the reality of living in the society that runs managed healthcare the way it does. That's not to excuse rude or invalidating providers (and, in my experience, psychiatrists tend to be particularly short on bedside manners) but I think that's a far more legitimate issue to hold against this place, even as I have never experienced it myself. Without a doubt, the office isn't perfect--but no office is. And when it comes to mental illness, which is particularly unique to every individual, it's virtually impossible to expect any program or facility to be the solution for every potential client. For me, it worked, and I will always be grateful for that.

I called to reschedule an appointment and was told the provider was 4 months out. Luckily they had a telehealth spot that day. I entered the video call and the provider joined. But I was unable to turn on microphone or video on my end but I could hear and see the provider. I messaged him through the chat that I was having trouble. After a moment he stated her still couldn't see me. I messaged aging wanting to know if we could talk over the phone instead. After a moment he hung up. I called the office stressed and upset but couldn't reach anyone so I left a message. That was on Friday. A week has passed and no one from the office has reached out. I understand the office is busy with chico growing and more clientele. I am not blaming the provider. But mental health isn't something you can wait 4 months for to get checked out, especially when something sudden comes up. There is enough anxiety and stress associated with the sudden issue and need to reschedule, but then the office doesn't even call you back.

Very, very concerned. I called this place for the first time…read moreon Sunday and left a lengthy message with all my information on it. It is now two days later and they did not even give me a call back or anything. When I called them right now, being the one that initiated the second call, the mail that answered had absolutely no reason why they didn't call me back. The only reason that he stated was because they don't work on Sundays. I let him know that in psychiatry, any reasonable person would think it's extremely important that they check their messages when they come in having somebody on call to do that for their patients. Supremely important is that they return phone calls. Any reasonable person in my opinion would believe that if you're dealing in psychiatry, actually somebody's life could be on the line and you don't even call them back for two days. Note that I'm not saying that that's in my case but they have no idea who I am and who the people are. They are calling for the first time. For me to witness them dropping the ball this seriously, I'll be calling somebody else that shows the importance needed to do this type of work and to take it seriously enough. I offered him more than one time to give me a good explanation on why they never called back and he was unable to do it and only apologized. In my opinion, others should realize that they did this.
