I will never recommend or return to this facility. My eye surgeon uses this place so I won't be going back to him because of my treatment at Skyway. When I called the Surgery Center to complain about my hurtful treatment by my nurse I spoke to a very nice nurse at first. Then the nurse manager called me with a bad attitude to start with then she basically said I was lying. I think if they have cameras in the surgery room etc. it would prove I'm telling the truth. Not sure how far I will take this complaint but the abusive nurse and manager should lose their jobs. read more

I've been unfortunate in the fact that I've had over 7 total knee surgeries and been to 4 different centers back home in NC. I had a scope back in 2022 with Dr. Granlund, who is an amazing Dr., but I can honestly say Skyway Surgery Center was the best experience I've had with a surgery center! The ladies who checked me in were very friendly, and patient with my wife and I. The nurse that was assigned to me was amazing. I wish I could remember her name because she was so caring and put me at ease without and medications! Haha. My anesthesiologist was very friendly and explained everything so well. I do remember the nurse in recovery was also so kind to me. Other centers that I have gone to always has someone that acts rude or just doesn't want to be there. I'm sadly having another knee surgery soon, and I'm glad to know I will be taken care of wonderfully again! read more

This facility is very clean and the staff is very kind. Every nurse or faculty member I met was sweet, friendly, and made sure they did all they could to keep me comfortable. They were very clear and concise when giving me directions on pre/post-op care and they gave me a good idea when it came to what the cost through my insurance would be. I even received a get well card after my first carpal tunnel surgery. I am very glad I chose to travel from Redding to Chico to come to this facility. read more

This probably isnt the surgery centers fault but when you arrive at your 9am scheduled time and - after inquiring - are told at 9:40 that you still have at least another hour to wait. My surgeon is still on his first case and I am case #3. Not only is this super frustrating for me but super inconvenient for my ride. I think the front office staff needs to communicate with patients when there is a long delay simply to help us mentally prepare during a somewhat stressful time. But the nursing staff is AMAZING. Super friendly and efficient. The anesthesiologist was also the best!! read more

My grandfather was scheduled 2 different times here for outpatient surgery at this modern, comfortable, clean ambulatory surgery facility that opened in 7/2004. There's a large, comfy waiting area for family to wait for their loved ones. The staff is very efficient & polite while checking you in quickly. Their billing coordinators will contact you prior to go over your insurance coverage & what you are to pay so there aren't any surprises day of! They are contracted with and accept most major insurance companies and Medicare. Inquire with your insurance company and the center's billing dept. for specific questions. Besides being more comfortable, it can save you money to come to a center like this vs a hospital for outpatient screening/diagnostic tests (colonoscopy, endoscopy, biopsies) as well as pain management corticosteroid injections, etc. The facility is owned & operated by 20 physician partners in the Chico/Oroville/Paradise area. National Surgical Hospitals, acquired a 40% interest in it as well. It's a 12,600-sq-ft multi-specialty surgery center housing 3 operating rooms & 2 procedure rooms all equipped w/the latest technology & equipment. It performs over 4,200 surgeries annually. There's also capability for a patient to stay overnight if needed, but the occasion hasn't come up yet we were told. A lot of the doctors have offices in the same complex as the center to make it easier on the patients and thus you aren't driving around trying to find a completely different place. The CNAs/RNs in the preoperative area are reassuring, professional and do their best to keep you comfortable (bringing warm blankets, pillows, etc.). I liked that prior to starting the IV, they give a tiny injection of lidocaine to numb the skin to make it more comfortable for the patient. I was also impressed w/the IV starting skill of the RN which is important as there's no need for an unskilled nurse hurting/bruising/damaging your veins. There's capability to perform an EKG right there saving you an extra trip/money pre-op and also increases patient safety prior to surgery. We really liked anesthesiologist, Dr. Brad Tym who was personable & jovial all while assuring us grandpa would be very well monitored and the least amount of medication would be used to keep him comfortable (Full anesthesia wasn't required for either case). Dr. Tym is a permanent staff member at the center which is much more reassuring to patients/families as he knows the facility, equipment and there's less chance for complications/errors. 5 stars for him, very kind & competent man! Once grandpa's surgery was completed, I was called in to meet him in the PACU where he was very comfortable and being carefully monitored & assessed by a kind RN. They offer you beverages, warm blankets, inquire about your pain level and do all they can to keep you comfortable. The doctor came over and explained the surgery to me & gave post-op care instructions to refer to at home. He was itching like crazy to leave, had minimal post-op pain and was ready to eat by the time we left! Yay! Two reasons for 4 stars: 1 is that a day prior to your surgery, an RN calls to remind you the surgery date/time and ask many questions RE: Medications, health history, etc. When you arrive in pre-op the RN asks the same slough of many questions all over again which is annoying since you just answered them yesterday. This is a waste of both parties time, decide on 1x you're going to ask these questions, not 2x-either on the phone day before or in pre-op bay. Or while you're there, they could do a more condensed version of the pre-op interview & make sure all of your medications are current. 2nd reason for loss of stars is w/both surgeries, we were called that AM to bring grandpa in 1+ hr. earlier than his original scheduled surgery check-in time as they claimed they could accommodate him. When we arrived both times early, he wasn't even taken to the OR until 30-45 mins+ past his ORIGINAL scheduled surgery time. So, you get to sit there nervous, waiting longer than you should have and it's not like you can get coffee or eat to kill time, as you can't have either prior to surgery and you're already hooked to an IV. They need to work on their timing/scheduling. Yes, surgeries run longer than expected, we understand, but don't call people to come even earlier if you're running even later than you anticipated. Or let us know this at the front desk so we can have the option of killing time elsewhere. Overall, every person we encountered at this facility was professional & kind and I would highly recommend it to anyone needing outpatient surgery/screening tests or anything that doesn't require a fully equipped hospital. read more

Very uncomfortable due to complaining staff about each other and physicians. There was not much privacy and was concerned about the competence of some. The stretcher had previous patient's stuff on it. It is apparent that some did not know that hearing is intact when sedated and yes know what I heard. The hot coffee was good. read more

This is my second time using Skyway Center and I really can't say enough about how wonderful the staff is here. They make you feel very comfortable here. I like that they inform you about everything that is going on with any procedure they are doing on you before the surgery and after. They were all very kind and caring. I also want to add how great Dr Brazil is. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand at a different facility and thought it went well, but that was because I didn't have a comparison. I have had no pain, no swelling and have more mobility in 3 days than I had in 3 months with the other hand. And Dr Yip my anesthesiologist he was so kind and informative. I chose to have a Bier Block which keeps you awake for the procedure and you don't have to take a nap and have that yucky feeling. I knew nothing about this procedure but he walked me through it step by step. Thank you everyone. read more

What a horrible place!!! If you are a modest person this is a place to stay away from as the recovery room is "co-ed" and the staff makes no effort to shield the sexes from each other. Waking up disoriented and the first thing you see is a strange man staring at you from the adjoining bed.... Nurses showed no understanding or compassion and the end result was a procedure that will never be forgotten. I guess there is a reason that these people do not work in an actual hospital which is where ALL of our medical procedures will be done from now on! Follow up, 02-12 Filed complaint with administrator who denied all charges even though it was witnessed. If you choose to use this center you would be wise to carry a recorder and request copies of all your documents as the staff forges patient initials and does not properly record information. read more

Surgery in 5/17. Taken in immediately even tho I was 45 minutes early. Treated with utmost care and respect. Staff was fun and uplifting. Anesthesiologist was great. He heard my concern of family history of difficulty coming out of anesthesia. He medicated accordingly. That was the quickest and best response I've had coming out of anesthesia following any surgery. Dr Davis, surgeon, and staff were fabulous! Nice clean facility, friendly staff. The receptionist took my info right away (everything I had to repeat was important, so I was ok with that). I spent minimal time in the waiting room before going back. The RNs were helpful and congenial during my prep. I had a bunch of podcasts queued up for long wait times and maybe listened for 20 minutes altogether. The Operating Room was cold, but they gave me a warm blanket - then it was lights out. I woke up feeling cold so the nice, somewhat chatty, post-op nurse took me outside into the warm sun where I found comfort. Then my ride showed up and we left. If you have some time in the area I recommend taking a stroll along the creek at the USDA tree farm located at the end of Cramer Lane (~1/2 mile southeast). I've had surgery twice now, once about a month ago for shoulder surgery, and the first a few years ago for carpal tunnel surgery. I was so comfortable that when I awoke and was ready to go home, I jokingly asked if I could stay there for a couple of days. The staff are very professional yet friendly. Even the anesthesiologist and the surgeon, who came to meet me before the procedures, made me feel relaxed and that I was in the best of hands. I had an umbilcal hernia repair this morning and I could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone was kind and patient. I was a nervous wreck and everyone I encountered did their best to help me calm down. I was so afraid to have my surgery that I was ready to cry. I am grateful for each and every doctor and nurse that took care of me today. The surgery went well and the pain management was excellent. The facility itself was very clean and didn't feel like a hospital setting. It felt more like a friendly doctors office. I would highly recommend the Skyway Surgery Center to people who might be a little wimpy when it comes to pain and fear of the unknown :) read more

I have had previous problems going under anesthesia and had concerns prior to going under. Dr. Gleason came and met with me prior to my surgery and explained the procedure he would use and what to expect. He took the time to listen to my prior issues and based on what he told me to expect, was right on target. The after effects would have concerned me if he had not explained them prior. While still in recovery for my surgery I will not rate the Dr. that preformed the surgery. I was pleased with the attention I received by all the staff and felt the over all facility was good. read more

My daughter needed to have shoulder surgery. She was very scared before going into Skyway. The doctors there were great! She was not scared at all going into surgery. It is a great place for anyone of any age to get surgery done. I am very happy that we went to Skyway Surgery Center instead of the hospital. The doctors and nurses care about your comfort. The price was half the cost it would have been if we went somewhere else. I would decently recommend it for future surgery! Simply amazing!!! read more
