I can't believe all these reviews! It is a little early for a rating but I just wanted to give my…read moreexperience since the criticisms assault this doctor's character. i am a woman and didn't feel disrespected for a minute. and i told him a big story that he had to correct because I was completely wrong about the most important thing. he corrected me respectfully, without putting me down for getting it wrong or anything! and i have gotten the feeling from other psychiatrists that they think they are experts about everything and that whatever you think doesn't matter because you are the crazy one and they get to pass judgement on your mind. he wasn't like that at all, and it has been hard for me to find a doctor that isn't like that somehow. my last paychiatrist accused me of all sorts of pejorative things because I filed a lawsuit and then never followed through, without realizing that I filed the suit the day before the camp fire that I kept telling her was so traumatic for me and messed up my life so much. first of all, why did she bother to look that up about me, when its irrelevant to the meds I need, then pass judgement based on assumptions? this guy did none of that kind of crap, and my first appoint with him is one of the best psychiatric appointments I have had. I am a little concerned with what people say about bills and meds but i will come back and update this review if necessary.

Condescending, interrupting, gaslighting. As it was my first appointment, I explained when we…read morestarted that I wasn't sure what I needed or how to start. Abouesh just continued reading off of a checklist and became visibly frustrated when I wasn't sure how to answer some of the questions, and began crying because some of the answers were emotional. In a matter of ten or 20 minutes, he decided that my problem was anxiety. Which is not what I was there for. I was trying to articulate (and explained that I was struggling, this is important later) what I needed and becoming increasingly frustrated when he kept dismissing the issues that I was trying to bring up and instead blanketing them under anxiety of which I "obviously suffered from" because I was crying. He was making me cry harder! His ego was very evidently hurt when I disagreed with him on a lot of what he was saying. When he asked what was making me so upset and I stated that he was being very unempathetic, he used the excuse that hes a doctor and he has to be. YOU WORK IN THE MENTAL HEALTH FIELD. We continued to try and talk, but he kept interrupting and talking over me and asked me to not say anything because he was "struggling to articulate"... Ultimately, he stated he would like to try again a different day because apparently I was just too emotional. No progress was made at this appointment whatsoever. When the possible diagnosis of ADHD was brought up, it was dismissed as depression or anxiety because he said "I have ADHD, bad, so I know what that looks like." Which is insane for this 50-60 something year old man to compare himself to a 28 year old woman. One of the most asinine statements of the visit that I will end on, was when I brought up potentially being autistic (I know psychiatrists cannot diagnose this but I thought maybe it could be relevant) and he says and I QUOTE "I don't think you're autistic. You might be somewhere on the autism spectrum...but not autistic."...HAHAHAHA what??? And then admits that hes not licensed to diagnose that. CLEARLY dude. I politely agreed to be added to a waitlist and left the office on a cordial note but I wish I had been more upfront and truthful in the moment, but I was so upset and in shock about how I was just treated. I will be calling back the office to remove my name and tell them about my experience.
